Wait...w-w-w-w-wait...me and Agent...LIKE...the same band?!

Yeah and they are most famous for writing a song about the Big Bad Wolf. Rejoice.........

I'm pretty sure I used to own a copy of that single before they had to change their name.

Agreed with mentions of the Posies.

Also:

Far (much as I love OneLineDrawing and New End Original, neither of them have the same raw edge as Far)

Pist.on

Menswear (can't believe they split just after releasing their best song)

Carter USM

The Macc Lads

"Three Little Pigs" is off of Cereal Killer: The Soundtrack. The much, MUCH better album is the follow up, 333, which featured the single "Carnage Rules," which was the theme song for the video game "Maximum Carnage."

I miss the Union Underground, STP, GnR, and Faith No More an assload. I also miss the real Metallica, even though that doesn't technically count. This St. Anger bullshit has got to stop. I miss Newsted too :(

If you've never heard the sheer genius of the Macc Lads, I feel for you, I really do

Wow, I actually vaguely remember that. Red case for the game?

So, to sum up, their two biggest songs were about the Big Bad Wolf and a comic book villain.........rejoice.

It's not like they ever did anything serious. That's the whole appeal.

Actually, Agent, that's not really true. They were serious about making music that you could laugh about, which they succeeded at very well. Hell, 333 has a song on it called "Fight" that BLATANTLY makes fun of hardcore, and "The Theme Song" off of 333 is a perfect parody of power ballads.

And how can you hate Gwar? I mean...they're fucking GWAR!

Gwar is fucking awesome.

X-cops is fucking awesome, too, and they're half Gwar and half Green Jelly.

Anyone that has to rely on gimmicks has always pissed me off I guess, but that can also be my own shoddy definition (GWAR, Green Jelly, Slipknot, KISS, ICP).

I'm the biggest musical asshole there is, so don't mind me. I honest to God like about 5 bands, and that's it, except for assorted classic rock and early 90s rap.

Hootie and the Blowfish --- but only because the sight on my gun is a bit off and Darius is a pretty quick for a chubby guy.

...Yes, it's a joke. Nobody could actually miss Darius...

Green Jelly really didn't have much of a gimmick, man. They wore whatever they came to the show dressed in, only had props in their music videos (well, all the videos for Cereal Killer were claymation), and played songs as a way of making fun of everything. Call it musical satire. That's not so much a gimmick as it is being true to themselves.

Because, you know, using your definition of a gimmick, GNR was a gimmick band too, considering Slash always had the hat and the sunglasses and the cigarette, and Axl was the primadonna that would stop a show if he felt the need to order a pizza. It's the "loose cannon" gimmick.

Not to mention the Doors' vague spirituality meets down to earth blues rock.

Musical satire? I think we should just stick with saying Green Jelly makes fun of things. Because that's as far as it goes.

Posted

True, it is a very loose definition. I have no argument.

Except AOO's definition of the Doors. That wasn't a gimmick, that was their "style".

Wait, what's the difference between the two? Fuck this, I have a headache.

GWAR fucking rocks brother. And Axl was a fucking whiny pansy who sang like I was stepping on his nads.
