Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Test decided to be a dickhead in real life to a mentally challenged boy. Wha!? I would've fucked him up.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Test was in many ways similar to A-Train in the ring, but he was so bad in the charisma department that he just had to go. Honestly, of the three, he had the least value. You just couldn't do anything with him. A-Train I think they should have kept, but good riddance to the other two. Papacita 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Thing about Test is that while he may not have been all that charismatic, he's shown that he's capable of getting over with the whole angle with Stephanie. And although I was never really dying to see Test get a big push or anything, he's a guy that they've had a bunch of chances to make a star out of, but rather than take advantage of them, they instead buried him and sent him right back down the card. It's probably best they released him now, as he's had so many sudden starts and stops with his pushes, and that coupled with his limited abilities would make it hard for fans to get behind him anyway, but for me, it's just a shame to see someone who had the potential Test did get wasted the way he's been. And to be honest, I'm still bitter that I never got to see T&A get a tag title reign.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Ya know, with Rikishi, Spanky, Kanyon, Noble and now Gunn released, TNA could profit big, but none of them have showed up in the promotion. I wonder if it's the no compete clauses in their contracts or just fear of being jobbed out to Jarrett? Supposedly, Knoble was told he'd be brought back at a later time, so he probably doesn't want to do TNA for fear of it working against his re-hiring. Gunn and Albert, two guys that were pushed down our throats time after time without amounting to anything Except A-Train wasn't constantly pushed down our throats. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Hopefully, Bob Holly will be the next to go and then TSM can pop the champagne bottles. By the way, I'm so glad Billy got fired, everybody knows Road Dog was the one who carried the team!
Enigma 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Ya know, with Rikishi, Spanky, Kanyon, Noble and now Gunn released, TNA could profit big, but none of them have showed up in the promotion. I wonder if it's the no compete clauses in their contracts or just fear of being jobbed out to Jarrett? Rikishi was told that once the heat on him died down, he would be brought back as long as he didn't do anything with TNA. Noble was told that he was being fired to keep WWE out of trouble due to the nature of his firing, and would be brought back soon.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 What's great about Gunn (and Holly for that matter) is that they could/can easily have lifetime positions with the company. For whatever reason, the WWE always supported them... That is, until they got cocky and decided that they actually deserve anything more than what they got. Fökai 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Edit: Oh yeah, thanks for wasting a KOTR on Gunn, WWE braniacs. But really, did they have anyone else to give it to that year? They were poised to give Gunn a push, which involved his win at KOTR and his interference to cost Rock the No. 1 Contendership at Fully Loaded.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Well, considering 99 was really the D-X tournament, they should have given it to either Big Show or Kane if they wanted a credible threat set for the title.
Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Shit, there are SO many worthless workers they could have released before Train. Seriously, Luther, Tomko, Heidenreich, Suzuki and Fertig all have jobs, but they release A-Train? Bah. Gunn I don't care about. I agree on the all of the rest of those workers, but Luther Reigns? He is at the very least on the same level if not higher than A-Train was and has really come into his own, and the two of them could have made quite a formidable tag team if A-Train stayed on Smackdown. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Fertig is in OVW for life. He gets called up and gets cold feet. Isn't Jim Cornette really high on him? I mean he must like him for Fertig to be in OVW for the past 3 years.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 Well, considering 99 was really the D-X tournament, they should have given it to either Big Show or Kane if they wanted a credible threat set for the title. Neither needed the title, though. Show was already seen as a title threat, and would go on to win the title later that year. Kane never needed the reign, simply because he was seen as a title threat year in and year out. Gunn was seen as the next mid-carder to get the strong push (obviously in the vein of Austin, Helmsley and Shamrock), but blew that chance as quickly as one could. Guest wrestling365 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 The release of Billy Gunn comes as no surprise. He recently went into rehab to deal with substance abuse after he was found passed out in an airport lounge. Believe it or not, but Gunn was one of the WWE's longest serving employees with around 11 years service under his belt. A-Train, who was on the injured list, is a more tricky situation and his release is somewhat surprising. The reason behind his pink-slip differs depending on who you talk to. Those close to A-Train say he's a nice guy and well liked in the locker room, but was often pulled by management for not putting effort into things. One source told me that A-Train has been questioning recently whether or not he wants to stay in the business. I guess that decision was made for him. Test, who was also on the injured list, has been told by one doctor that its probably in his best interests to never wrestle again. His neck is in real bad shape. The WWE caught wind of this news and decided to let him go as there was only a few months left on his contract. The bigger question here is, where does Test's real-life girlfriend Stacy Keibler stand in all this? The last time one half of a couple left the company the other followed suit -- that being Jerry Lawler and Stacy "The Kat" Carter in 2001. Please don't go Stacy!!! Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 2, 2004 (edited) To tell you the truth, this day isn't as grand as I thought it would be. I kind of feel bad for the lug. I would much rather they release him last year (when it was obvious that he was not good, average or even acceptable and any one facet of wrestling) than now when he's hurt. If they're cutting him now, that probably means he's healthy again. Vince doesn't usually cut injured workers. He'll usually wait until the guy's in working condition again, THEN boot the guy's ass out the door. He supposedly was about to be cut until his injury happened, so that's the only reason why he was still getting a paycheck this long. Also, yes, Holly would be the logical choice to be canned next (hey, it worked with Test, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed).

A-Train is still hurt from the rotater cuff thing and Test's neck is fucked up still. Billy Gunn...Well, he's a crackhead so...yeah.

Garth 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2004 I can't say I'm really upset to see any of these guys go. A-Train is the only one who I maybe would of kept out of the three, I thought he put on a good string of matchs with Benoit last year. I think it was their match at No Mercy last year I was sat there saying to myself "wouldn't it be sad if this was Benoits last match" moments later A-Train drops him headfirst onto that chair nearly breaking his neck in the process. Guest Korgath Report post Posted November 3, 2004 The biggest pity of all is that the marks probably don't remember A-Train. I mean... when was the last time he showed up on RAW or Smackdown!?
Ced 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2004 A-Train is the one I'll miss the most of the bunch. Sadly, the last image I have of him is slipping on that chair and dropping Chris Benoit on his head. Billy Gunn's career lost all of its salvage value after the Billy & Chuck angle and disasterous feud with Jamie Noble. Good riddance. I never cared for Test outside of his feud with Shane McMahon. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 3, 2004 Rob Conway is a better worker than Test, Gunn, and A-Train combined. Why shouldn't he be pushed? Because of his ugly beard?
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2004 WHAT? When did this happen and what did Test do to him? The day following SummerSlam last year, HOURS before Sunday Night Heat was to be taped, he arrived with Stacy. There was this mentally challenged fan, he was just a kid, who wanted his autograph / picture. And they blew him off after just looking at him. Maybe it was issue of kayfabe, but even HHH isn't that fucked up. What Test did was cold and he wonders why nobody likes him...
