This week in the NBA

Recommended Posts

He just came back from an injury, he'll be starting again soon, if not in the next game. Artest and Croshere have been starting.

Wait a minute... O'Neal isn't starting for Indiana..?!

He's working through a toe injury.

From what reports said, the Pacers were surprised to have him back in the lineup this quickly (he played in their second game).

Im impressed by the Bulls they rallied last night against the Nets and almost won. Alonzo Mourning played pretty well, eventhough I don't think he'll be a factor in the post anymore.

HELL YEAH, Clippers got a better record that the Lakers

Clippers beat GS 94-86 to go to 2-1

Maggette with 26 and Bobby Simmons with 21

I really like the effort this team is showing and when they get Kaman and Kittles back I think they might be a big surprise.

And mark my words Shaun Livingston is going to own this league in a few years.

I just got back from this game (since I live a 2 minute transit ride from the Oakland Arena) and I must agree that although Livingston's stats might not indicate it, he is going to be pretty damn good in a couple of years. Hoops is natural for him. Wilcox is becoming a prescence down low and Maggette and Simmons were excellent from the perimeter. I think the Clips are pretty fun to watch.

On the flip side of this game, the Warriors are just woeful. Their offense is atrocious. I think it's a combo of new guys getting used to playing with one another, but the biggest factor is getting used to a college coach in Mike Montgomery. Looking at the rest of GS's schedule, this team could easily go 0-8 before getting their first win this season.

I agree the League Pass rules. Especially since I am a Jazz fan and the Lakers game was probably their one ESPN game for the year.

If you can check out Jazz games do it, its a fun team to watch, good defense, unselfish, and they run the floor well. And you can check out the league's leading shot blocker!

The Lakers then run the table.

...with the Kobe-led Heat beating them in the Finals.

Vince Russo books the NBA~

I have the NBA League Pass and let me tell you, if you like NBA hoops, it's fucking awesome. Since I get to sample quite a bit of game action, I must say that the games this season, for the most part, have been a lot more uptempo than previous years. Just my $.02

I could probably find out myself pretty easily, but I want to browse the boards and I won't be getting off my ass (or this site) soon, so I was wodnering- how much does the League Pass cost?

I get plenty of Bulls games on WGN, Fox Sports Chicago, and I think Comcast Sportsnet is showing some, but I don't get to see many Timberwolves games in Illinois. I'm still sticking with the Bulls even after 6 years of suck, but the T'Wolves are my favorites and the only team I like that can provide any sort of entertainment. I'd also love to see some of the teams whose games I never get to watch on TNT and TBS.

John Stockton should come out of retirement and hitch his wagon to this team so he can get his ring.

But not Karl Malone. He had his chance.

Utah could very well wind up with homecourt in the first round this year, if they keep up this play. Right now, they're arguably playing as well as any team in the league.

see the Yankees have spoiled you. If you think the Knicks can't win 30 games you're smoking rocks.

There, that's better....

The Knicks are as solid as the second tier gets in the East. After Detroit, Indiana, Miami and Cleveland there's no team with a definitive edge on them. I mean, it's TWO games in and they're trying to fit in a new #1-A option on offense, growing pains were expected.

Totally agree about Arizia starting over Tim Thomas, and I think it will happen, hopefully sooner rather than. Thomas is a fucking worthless pig. That was BY FAR Tuss' worst move to date. In what universe is Tim Thomas deemed more valuable than Keith Van Horn? He's NEVER put up better numbers and never shown even flashes of the desire needed to be a great player. Thomas is a closet racist, he flat out dislikes white players, so it's no surprise he jetisoned the galloping ghost.

Anyway, Knicks win 44 and take the Atlantic

Boston Celtics will surprise this year. Paul Pierce is continuing to be an underrated star on the level of AI, Vince Carter, etc. while Ricky Davis is really stepping up. Payton is being Payton and guys like Mark Blount, rookie Al Jefferson and Walter McCarty are also stepping up and helping in all facets of the game. I think the biggest reason though will be Doc Rivers and his new Up-Tempo offense. The Celtics hung in there against the Pacers and just annihilated the Knicks.

League pass right now costs $169.00 for the entire season. They usually offer a lower price at the half season point for like $30.00 or $40.00, but IMO it's worth more to get it at the start of the season. You get every game unless there are blackout restrictions regarding a local team. If you are getting Bulls games, then you won't get them on league pass because you already have access to them from your local affiliate.

We got screwed here in Dayton Saturday night, because we did not get Cavs-Bucks because it was on FSN Ohio, except Southern Ohio schedules differently, so we didn't get it on a technicality.

I like Boston's team too, lots of talent there, one of the smartest players in the game in GP and a bonafide mega-star in Paul Pierce. I pick the Knicks to win the Atlantic because, lol, I'm a homer, but still, they're a virtual lock for the playoffs.

My early Eastern Conference picks:

1. Detroit

2. Indiana

3. Miami

4. Cleveland

5. New York

6. Philly

7. Boston

8. Washington

I'd like to say Toronto makes it, they've got the talent, but I've seen them fall apart too many times down the stretch to have any faith in them. Washington has a lot of young but not THAT young talent. Hughes and Jamison have been around the block now, and Arenas, if healthy, will have a great year. Throw in Jarvis Hayes and a solid crop of young big men highlighted by Kwame Brown (make or break for him this year, he needs to become consistent on a nightly basis) and Etan Thomas (when healthy), and I think they can make some noise this year. My 5,6,7 could go in any order, the Atlantic is really a crapshoot with them. New Jersey is on the outside looking in this year, they'll get off to a horrible start, go on a decent run when Kidd comes back in mid-December, and then fall towards the bottom of the pack after Kidd is traded for young players and draft picks. My gut feeling is that when Kidd eventually gets traded it will be a multiple team deal with someone else's (whatever playoff bound team lands Kidd) veterans going somewhere for a lottery pick headed to Brooklyn (better get used to it now).

Why does everyone think Cleveland will make the playoffs. Not only is Drew Gooden no Carlos Boozer, they had to trade their backup center to get him. Milwaukee hasn't gone anywhere, plus Orlando is tons better than last year. I'll wait a while longer to pass judgment on Toronto, but right now it looks like they could sneak in there before the Cavs too. If they couldn't make it last year, it surely won't happen this year.

1. LeBron is the best player in the East

2. They have McInnis for a whole season, plus Snow and Lucious Harris. When LeBron didn't have to play the point last season they put up a + .500 record. He's much more valuable to them playing the 3.

3. Big Z is the best true center in the East.

4. Drew Gooden isn't Carlos Boozer, but he's better than you think.

5. Paul Silas is a hell of a motivator.

I TOTALLY spaced on Orlando though. Duh! They'll be right in the middle of the NY, Philly, Boston, Toronto, Washington crowd.
