A mini-rant on what pisses me off about SD.

Recommended Posts

Here me out, here's my rant.

I could go into a long rant about why and how much Smackdown still sucks these days, but I don't think that anyone would disagree or bother reading it because anything related with "Smackdown" is deemed "stale" and "boring" because, well, it is. I have barely watched Smackdown this year, but I try to keep up with Raw (It's no longer a priority to watch wrestling on Thursdays and Mondays.). So I tried watching Smackdown tonight and since I'm writing this during the show, you can tell the show's not really gaining my attention.

One of my main issues right now is Tough Enough, mainly because it's taking up so much time on the program. Similiar with the Diva Search, as most of you said already. Not saying I'd rather see other shit they would have put on instead of Tough Enough, but yeah.

Obviously, giving 1 million dollars is pretty outrageous, but at least it's making the competition more interesting. At least until the WWE fucks it all up. First and foremost, do they expect these guys to be super athletes? Do you really think most of the guys in the WWE currently could do the stuff they are making these guys do in this year's Tough Enough competition? It's not realistic to a fan's perspective.

Look at tonight's episode for evidence. Kurt Angle bashed EVERY SINGLE wrestler in the Tough Enough competition, including a UFC guy. Thus, burying their credibility for even winning the contest either way...but of course, WWE believes that WWE > Than all other atheletes...at least in their mind, and only in their mind.

Later in the broadcast, he's buttering up to Carlito. Does that make any sense what so ever? You think Carlito would go out and do that shit the other guys were forced to do and actually do it? What has Carlito done, "on screen", to pay his dues as they've constantly told these Tough Enough kids. It's such a contridiction.

I could get into about how they had a segment of telling the guys to NO SELL a bodyslam from the Big Show last week, but first and foremost I didn't watch it, so that ends that.

The company might deny it, but as a fan who has considered getting into professional wrestling, it's so obvious how much of a joke this company is becoming. Firing guys like Rico when he always gets great heat, both face and heel, at house and TV shows...and could go in the ring. Sure he's "old", but he's better than most of the slobs they have including the current WWE champion.

I understand the logic in building new stars but they've shoved certain guys down our throats this year that has not only backfired but the characters ending, but losing viewers to an all new low for Smackdown on UPN. I still would like to know why I should care about Carlito, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak, Heindreich, Orlando Jordan and the other new stars they've shoved down our throats.

And JBL is still champion? Ahh..ha. Hey, he's a great character but that doesn't mean you make him the flagship for the fucking show. I'm hoping Booker gets the belt, even as a transition champion for Angle over the winter, just because it would be loads better than the crap they have had for the past year.

I noticed one fan had a sign tonight..."Come Back Brock."

At least that would be a start.

Thanks for reading.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent

In a month the RAW and Smackdown rosters will have been merged. Don't fret.

That would be nice. I think that if they were to split them, they should blow their load on the SD vs. Raw feud and have it end at Wrestlemania...the put the rosters together.

It would make things at least a little interesting.

Yeah, when you're the son of Carlos Colon (a.k.a God of Puerto Rico), I'm sure he's paid enough dues having to live up to his fathers name.

Like I said in the Smackdown thread...

The Angle sucking up to Carlito thing has some good fact with it...

Remember, Angle had his problems with Cena as GM? Carlito humiliated Cena...

Do the math.

I don't buy that...just because Ronald Reagan was a former President doesn't mean that his son could be one too.

GEORGE F'N BUSH

I wasn't going to open up that name just because, well, you know. Not saying I don't agree with you...but we should stick to wrestling, lol.

Point taken, Chris...I forgot about the Cena deal. Honestly, I didn't watch it, but I know Carlito beat him for the title.

Well it's a 50/50 isn't it? If you're the son of a famous wrestle,r odds are someones going to push you hard because of your name.

I like Puder because of his background and he's got a wrestler look to him...similiar of a Benoit or Angle.

Justice is a bigger guy who looks pretty athletic.

The guy everyone in WWE likes is pretty cocky, but I really don't see anything that great about him yet.

I think if Puder can show more chrisma and contiune improving, then you've got to go with him.

Puder had better get a better name if he starts wrestling because that name will bury him. I mean it looks like it's pronounced Poo-der.

Hilarious

I don't mind Smackdown! because I don't get RAW at college. I find the storylines mildly interesting and I'm willing to suspend enough disbelief to enjoy the weekly show. I see where you are coming from but I just can't allow myself to be so critical because if I was to start complaining, I don't see where it would end.

Randy Orton.

Rocky Miavia.

Curt Hennig.

Need I continue?

Orton with those two?lol

I'd put him with Putski,Watts,Flair.

Can't say I watch Smackdown anymore but it can't be any worse then Raw's face/face/face vs. evolution main events every week over and over and over again.

And I'm not saying Raw is the greatest wrestling they have ever produced, either. By far it's not.

But compared to Smackdown, it's obvious where the effort is put into it that is what really bugs me.

Good God, the Orton bashing is pathetic.

Randy Orton is no where near the legend of a Mr. Perfect or a Rock, but because you don't like the guy does not mean he's a "David Flair" so to speak. That's so irrational it's laughable.

If you can't add shit to the topic but an unwarranted jab, BUTT out.

Smackdown has its slew of problems that all pretty much come down to the booking. WWE booking nowadays seems to be so "on the fly" and people like JBL, Jordan, Suzuki, Reigns, and Jindrak all exemplify this.

Why would Angle pick those two guys to be groomed for anything? Both have been wrestling for a fair amount of time at least and have done NOTHING.

These guys are supposed to be percieved as main event type people, but never finished the grade below.

Randy Orton is a prime example of this, in being selected by HHH to be in Evolution without anyone knowing shit about him or what he could do. Orton, IMO, did the best he possibly could with being handed way too much, and at about this time would have been ready for the main events. Instead, he is further advanced than he should be.

History tells us that the Rocks and the Lesnars that become a cornerstone of the company at a young age will not hang around. How many title reigns can you have before you even turn 30 and still have that fire to do more?

Anyway, Smackdown suffers BIG TIME from being taped. I think if the show were live, we might have that Raw type feel to the show, and, more importantly, the roster may produce more under that pressure.

This topic comes up all the time, with the show looking like the minor leagues, etc.

I've grown tired of the show as well, and if the booking persists, (Booker in a 20 minute match with OJ who has NO offense, each new title holder getting a month of buildup from midcard hell and thrown the title, and WCWesque angles and characters) I quit.

They don't actually get a million dollars.

This is like an extended version of the Steiner/HHH feud. *shudders*

It's also like they took a part of the Old Tough Enough that everyone talked about - the wrestlers coming out and blabbering about all the struggles of being a pro wrestler and punking out the kids - and put it on EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Classic WWE.

the problem is that is not the same te as before. now its being down apparantly in scripted format (with angle acting as a heel instead of his real self like he did when he was on the earlier tes) since it is live on sd. and how are any of they chalenges gonna make them a good wrestler? eating pasta and running alot=wwe superstar this has less sense and credibility than a Dubya state of the union address are they ever going to be trained on tv? no cuz that would "expose the business" bahahahhahahah as if everyone abouve 10 years old doesnt realize its fake

enough already with the stupid contests , no wonder they have to fire people, they are constantly spending money on crap like this,

I think the current Tough Enough is an OK idea...at least all of these guys seem like they can be real wrestlers, and a few of them seem genuinely talented...but they devote way to much time to the contest every week. Just a short five minute video would be enough for me.
