Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 I am just curious as to what everybody who likes both genres would like to see in future wrestling video games. I would love to see a career mode that has you create a couple of wrestlers at the start of the career mode. Than throughout your career when of these caw's will be a returning superstar who just signed with the WWE. Another might be an up and coming rookie. While another might be a wrestler who was seriously injured by the hands of you and has come back for payback. This will all be randomly generated throughout your whole entire career. So one of your caw's wont show up until maybe year 5 while another might show up the next week. Another thing I would love to see is more and better story lines. Why not have like a tv title championship. Where the title has be defended on every tv show and not on ppv. Make the champion an old school Steven Regal who would use the time to his advantage and constantly go outside for the 10/20 count and or get a dq just so he can keep his belt. Make the time limit be 15 minutes and just have a champion who is programmed to cheat and keep his belt at all costs. Since you have to beat him and he doesn't have to beat you for the title to change hands. This can lead into a match at wrestlemania for the climax. Where you get a match that is either no dq, no countout or a ladder match for the title.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 I'd like the future additions to the SmackDown series not be ghey with the no DQ rules. Just because a wrestler knows the match is no DQ doesn't mean they need to go and use weapons all the time. I was playing SD vs. Raw today (rented it), and the match was Benoit/Flair, with me as Benoit. It ended up going about, oh, 12 minutes, but hot damn it was awesome. Only big downside was Flair constantly going for sledgehammer and chairshots, which he never really does.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 (edited) What I think they should do is make a wrestling game that has no attatchments to any wrestilng organization. That alone would improve the game, simply because you then can't bitch about the roster not being all there. Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Oooo I want to see an injury system implemented into the game as well. So lets say the champion gets injured at one show and has to give up his belt and it is right before the Royal Rumble. Make the Royal Rumble for the championship. Or if the champion gets injured before the survivor series, Make a King of the Ring style tournament for the gold.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 ^That'd take forever to do and make it look nice, but it definitely is possible. I mean, they had the "create a taunt" feature for SYM and HCTP, and "create a walk" for SYM and HCTP, and "create an entrance" for the GC WWE games, so why can't they use a similar system to do the "creat a move" feature? Plus, I'd just make the Shotgun be in a game. Use the Gordbuster animation to start it, and then have one of my player turning around, and then use one of a Stunner or a Diamond Cutter. Voila, you got a version of the Shotgun right there.

Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Some sort of "hot tag" mode would be nice. I am not quite sure how it would go, but tag matches seem so underwhleming if I beat up a guy for an hour, only to have his partner come in and just act normally. Less "random" storylines would also be nice. For instance, in Smackdown once, my character does this big, heroic face move to close out my PPV match...then the next night my guy decided to form a heel stable out of the blue. Not to mention the ever great: "work my ass off to win the Tag titles, then promptly forget about them and never defend them" angle. I also like how some female wants to be my "manager" but after that storyline wraps up, I never see her again. I wish they were able to put them together in a slightly more cohesive way. Moves took a while to make, but they came out pretty smooth. The system from the Tony Hawk games wouldn't work well, I think. It could be a two disc set, with the main game on one disc and all of the create-a-stuff on the other. That'd allow for a lot more things to be included. I realize that there is zero chance of it happening, but a guy can dream.

dubq 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Continuity in the season mode would be nice. The ridiculous amount of face/heel changes in the SDvsRAW season is fucking ridiculous. OR, how about continuity in ANY mode. How lame is it that when I play a created PPV in SDvsRAW that in the first match, Tazz & Cole say we're in LA.. but when the second match rolls around, we're suddenly in Texas?!?! Christ, all I want is a developer who can sit back and say "Holy Crap! That doesn't make sense! Why did we do that in the first place? Are we morons?" jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I'd like to see you have a lot more control over your career/season mode. I'd really like some kind of training to help improve yourself, injuries and some small rehabilitation things, and have these have some impact on how your character progresses through the ranks. It would have to be done right though to not end up just being annoying.
Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Ok I have another question. Will you as fans allow Yukes or whoever to just sit back on graphics and sound for the next game as long as they put all their time into gameplay and storymode as long as the game is on the ps2? tetsubeav 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 1) Customizable Titan-trons. How hard can it be to have a few default trons that can fill in your wrestler? I mean, it'd be like the pre-PPV feud review clips on HCTP & SDvR. 2) The ability to rip music into the system for entrance themes. 3) More storylines in season mode 4) Create-a-move WITH some sort of code system so that you could put in a code from someone and it'd be able to put the move together for you instead of you having to try to recreate yourself. Basically, take the graphics of SDvR, combine it with the existing features of HCTP and add the three wants above and I'd be happy.

Most 'smarks' will say yes oddly enough...so asking here probaly won't get your best response. But...there is also a huge majority who will asy hell no. They want to see the graphics updated. I'm one of those people...When I saw that they made them a lot better then HCTP...I couldn't wait to get SDvsRAW...even if just for the graphics.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Graphics don't make a game. They help, but hell, the bells and whistles usually matter more than the graphics. At it's core, it's all about the gameplay. That's the only thing that matters. A game can have the best graphics in the world, but if it's not fun, no one is going to play it. That would be nice if you had like an injured shoulder and for your next couple of matches your opponents do nothing but work on your shoulder. This could either lead your wrestler to getting even more injured, losing more and having to work against their short comings.

yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 It'd be nice if they had some sort of Phonetic chart thing to where you can select the pronounciation of your CAW. That way you can have your CAW "John Doe" and you can select the phonetic spelling (see the chart in Webster's dictionary) and the ring announcer can announce the CAW as such. You know they have the capability of doing that in this day and age.

And no.. , yes, I know I worded my response wrong..but whatever. What I mean is, I'd buy a game that looks like SDvsRAW...and plays like SDvsRAW. I already knew SD had decent gameplay, and when I saw the newer graphics, that just made me want it even more. SD's gameplay isn't bad...but there's a lot of people that say it is. Or if it's not that...they're complaining about season mode or something, evidently forgetting that most of the other games didn't even have..a season mode. And when like...SYM came out, there was a bunch of complaining about the use of WWE storylines, and a lot felt that THQ/Yukes whatever..should be coming up with their own storylines. Well...they did and now we have a shitload of diva stuff because last year there was complaining about divas not playing a big enough roll. IMO, some of the complaints are what make the next game worse. (even though..I do actually enjoy the season mode.. )Because when Yukes finally does add whatever in...people realize they didn't really want that...and then complain for the next full year. And thinking about your question, if it played like Thunder..I don't know. I probaly wouldn't buy it, but I probaly would try to get it. So, it plays sucky, doesn't change the fact that if I wanted to I could have Chris Benoit vs chris Jericho at WMXXI. Or a Eddie/Kurt HIAC or something. Sometimes I even do go back and play WCW Thunder or Mayhem or something when I'm in a 'WCW mood'. So I probaly would still get it..
Ced 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Create a Titantron: I hate having to go with the generic WWE entrance because all the other Titantrons feature another WWE wrestler. Rip an Entrance Theme: Especially with the shoddy choices for generic themes SmackDown gives me. Not even a feature but bring the King of Colosseum series to the States: I really want a competitor to the WWE series. Flip top be damned.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2004 -Expanding on the injury ideas earlier, I would like to see wrestlers be injured for lengthy amounts depending on the amount of damage you inflict on them. For reference, use the storyline in HCTP or SYM where the cruiserweight/jobber comes out and upsets you and finds ways to beat you for the full month. I was using Lesnar and Ultimo Dragon scored the upset. WHen the PPV came down, I beat the mortal hell out of Dragon and hit the F5 6 times in a row to end the match. Dragon should have been out of the game for a month or more and then they could have a feud or believable continuity when he returned. -Include an option to cut a promo or interview to insert yourself in feuds or set up matches for the future. You should also be able to interrupt the other matches on the card for the night. If you could come down and help another person win/lose or just beat the hell out of both guys and cut a promo, that would be cool. -Include personal booking in the season mode. I would love to book my own feuds. They can include the current templates they have set, but I should be able to decide whether or not I want to move one way or another. Totally different from the current selection of a choice and how it leads to different angles, you should be able to branch out at any time. For instance, if your wrestler has been in a mini-feud with another wrestler for a few weeks, you should be able to decide if you want to put it on the back burner and use the continuity a couple months down the line for another storyline (Benjamin undefeated against HHH for example), injure the person in a match, evolve it into a title feud, etc. You should have an infinite number of ways you could go, and be able to book the entire fed. -At least 5 matches per show and 7-8 for PPV's. Being able to book your own angles would make this worthwhile because you could see how things play out for the lesser characters on the shows. -For fuck's sake keep track of who you are friends and enemies with. You should never be fighting people in your faction (like Evolution vs. Evolution for the tag titles) unless you wanted to book it that way. Every time I played as a member of Evolution in HCTP, I ended up putting the titles on the line against the other 2 members of Evolution and dissolving the group like a month in, or fighting each other in tag and then act like it never happened the next show. Yeah, but crank up the speed, add the VPW touches like the shooting, smooth it out, include the replays and post-match stats like in Revenge, and so on. I still like No Mercy's career mode more than nearly any other, even if it they're basically rehashed major angles from that period of time. The branching pathways was a really cool way to do it.
