Day after Thanksgiving sales?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knew of any video game deals for the day after Thanksgiving. I was lucky enough to get a GameCube with the Zelda Collector's Edition for $80 last year, so I was hoping some stores would have some decent bargains this November 26th. Has anyone heard of any?

Im advising everyone to not shop at Best Buy. Its really a complicated story, but it comes down to them not wanting unwanted or "Devil" customers to shop their stores any more. "Devils" would be people who buy stuff only when they have it on sale for a deep discount and also people who send in rebates. They want "angels" to continue to shop there, people who walk in and buy stuff no matter what the price is and dont send in rebates. As I said, its kinda more complicated than that, but if you want to know more you can read this article

'Devils' to them are the ones that take the rebate and return the product and return opened items and buy them again at the discounted opened item price. However, if I'm to be lumped in with the devils because I mainly buy rebate items and opened items but not do the underhanded tactics associated with them, then they'll take my devil money and like it.

Wow, that's a poorly written column. I'll give him that he ties everything into his theme of illusions, but he really stretches to make this essay work:

- First he explains the concept of the 'Devils', and cites two cases - customers who buy something, send in the rebate, and then return the product, and customers who buy something, return it, and then buy it back at a discount on the 'open items' rack.

- Then he jumps to the conclusion that because BB doesn't like these 'Devils', they dislike all people who buy loss leaders, and wonder why they have them in the first place, since BB is out to screw everyone over. (Not that he tries to really prove this, since he's already going to his next point, which is that)

- Apparently BB - and BB alone - 'force' the manufacturers to create a mail-in rebate that apparently noone likes, and especially not the consumer. And somehow, this causes rifts between everyone. (Which is why consumers and manufacturers keep coming back to BB.)

- And then he somehow goes into a rant about data collection (in this case BB asking you for your zip code) and how smart he is by paying cash and refusing to give out his zip code... actually, I'm not sure what this has to do with illusions. Maybe he just doesn't want to be found when SkyNet goes online?

So anyways, in the end I'm not really sure what point this guy is trying to make other than pay cash and fly under the corporate radar.

good sales sad thing happened to me two weeks ago. I went to best buy to get sd vs raw and coudnt find it so I picked up the holiday game guide there to see the release date on it . I asked a worker and the computer said it was in stock so he went to back and got it finally. I went and paid the full 49.95 price. then was horrified to learn later that in the holiday game guide was a 5 buck off coupon for sd vs raw or DOR man was I poed the neew sd magazine also has the coupon for best buy

Don't feel bad, I paid full price as well, less $5 from my BB Rewards coupon. Sadly, Fry's decided to not run a sale for SDvRaw that I could price match...

Best Buy can fuck itself. I read the ads and made my plan of attack for what to go for. I had 3 items I wanted, and figured if I got 1 I'd be happy. Went when they opened at 6am. I braves the 20 degree weather and the crowds. Went in and first looked for the mp3 player I wanted. I asked an employee and she showed me where they were and handed me one. Then I went for this portable TV, and found that too. So I thought wow I'm 2/2, I won't even bother going for the 512 mb cruizer mini. So I get in the line and after 40 minutes I get through, only to be told I need a ticket to buy the mp3 player. The ad had no mention of a ticket, the employee who handed it to me said NOTHING about a ticket, just here you go and have a nice day. I complained but to no avail. If I hadn't gotten the mp3 player I was going to go for the cruizer mini, but didn't, and now they were most likely all gone, and I wasn't going to go through the line again anyhow. Needless to say I'm fucking pissed off, it's bullshit. I don't even know where I was supposed to get a ticket, I saw NOTHING on a ticket anywhere. And you'd think the employee who handed me the damn thing would have said something but nope. Anger.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Actually I'm now past the angry stage and onto the just depressed stage.

And it's a good thing I had something else to buy and not just the mp3 player, because if I waited through the line with just that and couldn't buy it I would have gone off and either A. gotten my mp3 player or B. been kicked out/arrested.

Regarding Smues -- WTF? You had an MP3 player in your hand and they said you had to have a ticket?!

Last year at Best Buy I purchased a bunch of stuff and was in one of the 20 improvised lines they had. When it finally got to my turn I was told that I needed to go into the line that stretched across the STORE becuase I was buying some specific item (I can't remember what it was). Although what REALLY ticked me off last year were the 20-or-so times I saw CSR pimping reward-zone cards/special warranties/etc...

Yes, in my fucking hands, for all 40 minutes I was in line. It was handed to me by an EMPLOYEE. I didn't grab it off a rack. I couldn't find them, so I asked an employee and she pointed at a basket of them they had behind a counter and then handed me one. Didn't say a damn word about a ticket. Nothing in the ad said anything about a damn ticket. That's great store communication they have going there. What made it even more fun was the fact that the people ahead of me in line had to ahve something grabbed from the back or something special so they stepped aside so the cashier could ring me up, and when she started she told me i'd need a ticket for the mp3 player, then the item arrived for the customers so she went back to them and that took 5 more minutes. So I got to stand there for 5 minutes wondering what the fuck she was talking about with a ticket. It's not like the mp3 player was the most important thing in the world or something, but it just ticks me off to have an employee give me something without a word of limitations, and then tell me nope sorry we suck ass, no mp3 for you! I'm also guessing that however you get a ticket, they were out, since she didn't say anything about how I could get one, just some crap about "you need a ticket, I have 8 people with tickets who need these." Or some crap like that. Argggggg the anger is back. DIE BEST BUY DIE.
