The Mandarin Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Sometimes I don't realize that the movie was based on the book if the book is of a different name. I've got none right now, so somebody else get the ball rolling.
starvenger Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Off the top of my head... Apparently "Christmas With The Kranks" is a John Grisham novel called "Missing Christmas" or something like that. "Jackie Brown" is "Rum Punch" by Elmore Leonard. And I think that there's a lot of Ray Bradbury and Phillip K Dick short stories that get made into films with different names. "Total Recall" comes to mind.
Vyce Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 "Stand by Me". It originally appeared as Stephen King's "The Body".

Guest The Gecko Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 "Apocalypse Now" is based off Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness
Special K Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Blade Runner = Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Philip K. Dick. Though it's loosely adapted.
Guest JMA Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Cape Fear was based on the novel The Executioners.

Maximum Overdrive was trucks? You sure cause I know that later on they made another movie called Trucks based off a Stephen King book....unless it was some shitty sequal...
MrRant Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Maximum Overdrive was the actual theatrical movie of the book and the I think USA made the another tv movie adaption of the book as well.
Guest Mr.Negativity Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Manhunter is Michael Mann's adaption of the Red Dragon Book. Grisham from CSI played the protagonist in that one.
