Quick Hell In The Cell question

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question, how come at Judgement Day 2002, the HIAC match between Jericho/HHH suddenly became a falls count anywhere match, to the best of my knowledge, none of the previous or after matches were falls count anywhere, but JR sold it like it was a normal thing, was the falls count stipulation added on some Smackdown show before the show and I missed it?

I was sitting ringside for that one and everybody around me was like what the fuck when they went for the pins atop the cell. It was news to the live crowd too.

in the Smackdown games, can't you pin ontop of the cell too?

Maybe they think that ontop of the cell is directly above the ring, which is still in the ring space, just above it, so pins are eligible?

I have no clue, just wanted to post a thought.

To answer your question specifically, no this wasn't a stip that was mentioned to be added on. Rocket gave the most correct answer on how it ended up that way.

Is it just me, or is the JD 2002 Hell in the Cell match the most forgotten, underated hell in the cell matches ever? I've noticed that everytime someone brings up a topic regarding Hell in the Cells in any way, shape or form. this match is hardly ever mentioned. Hell, the No Mercy Hell in the Cell gets mentioned alot, and it happened in the same year.

eh, just something I noticed.

I blame that on smark hate for HHH; it was a questionable booking decision to give him the win. That, and there was no real buildup on the match itself; Jericho was used by Vince to teach HHH a lesson in storylines) and the match was HIAC simply because Vince said it would be.
