Man, I love the Cure. I won't recommend singles cause I'd recommend too much.

Seriously though, Disintegration gets the press, but their best album was The Head On the Door. That's actually the only Cure album I'd confidently recommend to somebody who doesn't want to listen to a whole album.

Isn't Slint the band that Abby Gennette (sp?) fronts? I remember her mentioning that she was in a band with a name that sounded like that back when she hosted MTV2 Rock.

She's one of the hottest women ever made, so I'd like to know if her music is any good.

I dunno, her band is nothing like Ashlee Simpson.

I wonder what kind of crowd the Ashlee Simpson tour is going to draw? Either A. Her adoring Hillary Duff loving, inept, teenage girl fans or B. People going to mock her/seeing if she's the "real deal". I'm guessing both, she's playing 5,000-6,000 seat venues with no name opening acts, which seems a little to big for her to me.

I'm listening to Thug Matrimony right now. Some of these songs are stunningly great, but the best line comes from Tampa Tony on "J.O.D.D.":

"No child support, so swallow my kids, ho."

Awesome.

WHY is Vanilla Ice BACK?!?!?!

He never really left, he just lost about 99% of his fan base. He's released like three albums since his hey day (The one where he had dreads, the one where that was produced by Ross Robinson, and a *shudder* double album)

Check out his album cover:

I think it's funny cause he looks kind of retarded.

You know, I even like the message tracks on Thug Matrimony. I think part of it is their placement. He hits "These Are the Daze", kind of a soft message track, and then "I Wanna Sang" which is even more, and you're like "Ok, two in row. I didn't know Trick had it in him". You think it's safe and then... "Children hold ooooooon... to your dreeeeams!" It's almost like he's trying to be funny.

More Thug Matrimony thoughts: "4 Eva" is probably the best thing I've heard with Jazze Pha's chubby-ass name stamped on it. And it's where he says the name of the album! Bonus points!

Edit: It's also a lot better than T.I.'s new album, Urban Legend, which I listened to in full yesterday. Nothing on there is quite as good as "Rubberband Man," but it's decent.

"Sugar (Gimme Some)" is my favorite song on there after "Let's Go". Talking Heads! Trick Daddy's cultured.

Cool ending on the album too... just when you think it can't get any better, the fuckin Ying Yang Twins show up. That's going out on a high note.

So I was looking through my CDs today, and I noticed that I have a live Iron Maiden album. I don't remember ever buying it or listening to it, but there it is.

I may pop it in tomorrow.

You know what's an album from the 60s that's good? Astral Weeks, by Van Morrison. (I've never heard the Charles Mingus album of the same name, so I can't comment on that one.)

But yeah, the title track, "Madame George," "Ballerina"...outstanding.
