Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Hey, IDRM: I'm playing the Sneetches on my show tonight. OH YES I AM.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Aw man, you shoulda gave me a shout out. You sound bored.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Sorry. The only Sneetches I could find on soulseek was this four song ep that I don't think was an official release. It collects these songs they did for various tribute albums. Of the four songs, I really like three of them; the one I don't like is a cover of "Everybody's Talkin'" (from the film Midnight Cowboy). Which I don't like because it sounds just like the original, which I didn't like to begin with. But yeah, I need to do what I can to hear more Sneetches. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Yeah, I've been trying to get my hands on Sometimes That's All We Have for less than $30. I hate spending money. Don't worry, you can dedicate some other random song to me. "This one is for my nigga, Milky." My real name is too common. A girl got it tattooed on her once and didn't even care when we broke up, she could just find another one.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Weird that this is Ian Mackaye.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I mean, that's obviously his voice, but the music is nothing I'd ever expect from him.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Awesome. By the way, I did get Guerilla and it was pretty awesome too. I also got Ludacris' Red Light District and I only listened to half of it but it's pretty good. I think LCD Soundsystem is pretty cool afterall.
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 This LCD song I'm playing right now is good, but they have so many better ones.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 The dedication to "milky" got a chuckle out of me.

Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I just heard this group called Underground Resistance that I liked a lot. I'm just mentioning for the hell of it, but since you brought it up, take that as a techno recommendation. They're Detroit Techno, an offshoot genre which is my favorite kind but most people don't know about unless they're into that sort of thing. I've checked out a couple of songs, it's not bad. I really enjoy the Galaxy 2 Galaxy CD thus far, namely Hi-Tech Jazz (The Science). Thanks. Does anyone listen to the Horrorpops? They're a psychobilly band which spans a lot of other genres as well. I just recently discovered them after hearing they were coming to town. Went out and picked up Hell Yeah!...they're not bad, nothing I'm crazy over. I'm going to check out the live show, as they've got go-go dancers and the bassist plays a giant stand-up. Has anyone seen/heard them? Impressions?

Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I rarely listen to rap these days. As such, I haven't played much rap on my show in some time. But hey, I played Black Star last week, if that counts for something. Anyway, I found the Sneetches' Sometimes That's All We Have on slsk. I'm two songs in and man, this is so fucking good. Too bad everything they've released is out of print, as I'd be willing to buy it all right now. Thanks for telling me about these guys, IDRM.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 No probs, homeboy. Yeah, that is one bitchin' album. I will pay $30 to own it if I never find it elsewhere, even though I've heard it already, it's that good.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Do American folks like The Streets? People trying to be snobs in the UK loathe him, but they're very wrong.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I bought a banjo. Effort! I love the banjo in The Monks' songs, just hammering the shit out of the thing in time with the backbeat.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted May 2, 2005 After one listen, I like Side B best of Bitches Brew, and found it more compelling than In a Silent Way. side b of disc one, or disc two? it's got 4 sides. if the latter, then i totally agree. "sanctuary" is my absolute favorite miles moment ever. First disc, actually. The delicate interplay and simultaneous fighting between the guitar and horn grabbed me. godthedog 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 i listened to 'straight outta compton' today, for maybe the 3rd or 4th time ever. eazy makes me want to stab myself in both ears with a swiss army knife corkscrew. that fucker has a voice more annoyingly nasal than liam gallagher, his flow is fucking TERRIBLE and has all the fluidity of a jagged sheet of sandpaper, stretching his syllables out in all the wrong places and having no sense of meter at all, and his rhymes betray the language skills of a retarded 11-year-old: "shinin' a light in my face, and for what? maybe it's because i kick so much BUTT" what the fucking FUCK? you're in a group called NIGGAS WITH ATTITUDES singing a song called "FUCK THA POLICE." YOU DON'T USE THE WORD "BUTT" IN A SENTENCE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER. are you afraid of offending somebody, did you not think of anything else to rhyme that? what the hell is wrong with you? "do i look like a motherfuckin' role model? to a kid lookin' up to me-- life ain't nothin' but bitches and money" THAT'S how you do a line in a song. if only ice cube did all the rapping in NWA. i saw a 2-pack of his first 2 records at tower the other day, i may have to pick them up. i think i'm going delirious from all the writing of final papers i have do this week. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 Well, he did say ass immediately after that "BUTT" thing. And Ice Cube ghostwrote most of that stuff anyway. But I agree with you, Eazy ain't much to write home about. I kind of dig his nasally whine, though.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 I like Eazy best as a hype man. His ranting at the end of "One Less Bitch" is probably my favorite moment from his career, maybe excepting all of "Gimme Dat Nutt."
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 I saw a minature keyboard in the £1 store. It had about 5 sounds. I could really kick some ass with that, I feel.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 My old Casio played "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" for the demo. You could play along with it using some of the weird effects and make it sound utterly terrifying.

You can't blame Eazy for having shit lines, he wrote very little of his own stuff. Blame Cube. And I like a lot of Eazy's rhymes on on 187-Kill 'Um (or whatever that one was called, the one that's really nothing but a slam on Dre) whoever wrote for him then did a great job. Jingus 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2005 When I Have Money I really need to spend some of it on some quality rap albums, as my education has been woefully lacking in that department. I heard some new Backstreet Boys song on the radio today that actually didn't suck. It sounded more like Coldplay than any of their previous boyband crap. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me.
