Guest Thrashist Report post Posted November 30, 2004 I actually have no problem with the Benoit-Edge finishes in both the battle royal and main event. It adds heat to the world title chase, makes their feud seem like the top angle on the show, and serves as pretty compelling television for your average mark watching at home I know the finishes are screwy for us cynical smarks, but I don't think anyone of us would have been happy with anything they could have done. If it was a clean finish for Benoit or Edge, people would complain that they gave it away on free TV on a bumfuck Raw. If it was clean for HHH, people would complain even more (rightfully so). But this finish adds enough drama to keep people interested and makes HHH look bad at the other two cowinning the title while he was laying on the outside, even though he'll probably end up keeping the title on a technicality. Benoit got hoodwinked by a age-old trick. Orton can't get a decisive winner during the same two men. Orton was horrid in his role, with the only thing that he was prepared for was the lingerie fashion show with the...ahem..."Divas" (and Stacy). They must be completely bankrupt in Creative if they're using the same goddamned "He won!! NO, HE won!!!" finish TWICE in one night. As soon as Vince appeared on the stage, I switched to MNF because any desire I had to watch that battle royal was gone with the bait-and-switch I knew was coming. Hey guys, you promised a battle royal for the title last week. GO THROUGH WITH IT!! It's getting comical how WWE continually fucks up good things through their own ineptitude. There have been worse endings to Raw and let's be frank, it could have been MUCH worse if they had the show end with someone resolving the double pin ending by stating that HHH keeps the title since Benoit and Edge pin/tapped out.... RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 I loved the finish. It was a legit cliffhanger. They should hit 4+ in the ratings next week, if they play their cards right. The main event was probably the best match they've had in a while. I enjoyed the shit out of that. HHH was bumping like a motherfucker but selling like a fuck. Benoit killing him with the suplex was fantastic. They did too good of a job building up Batista in the Battle Royale. If you're going to do something like that, go all the way. The crowd BOO'D when he was eliminated. That's bad when he's a heel, and especially bad when they're building him up to leave HHH when he won't. The rest of the show sucked. The Diva thing was just plain bad and killed the crowd. The WWE really needs to look at the crowds reaction to these things, cause a lot of the audience doesn't cheer for this shit. And it is SO TAME. You can't have it both ways - you either don't do it, or you get down and dirty. WWE isn't willing to do that, so fuck em. Why am I supposed to cheer for Randy Orton? Like, fuck. "You're really pretty"??? Again, TAME. Orton should say "Yeah you look great...Hows about you suck my cock now?"... Who the fuck cheers a ladies man?
