Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I'm definately happy to see the sole surviving kai en tai member pick up the Cruiserweight title. He has been one of the most underated wrestlers in the WWE mostly due to his size. People look at Funaki and think, oh well he must be a Japanese Barry Horowitz a jobber to the stars. People tend to not know his Super J Cup contention in 95 the various Middle weight titles he won in Japan. the man can bust out some moves in the ring, but we never see them because 80% of such moveset is just to flashy and might show up certain people not even on the same Brand roster.... Now lets Pro and Con this.. Pro: Funaki's winning is in a long time coming, he has the tools to represent the Cruiserweights well and perhaps allow him to show case his true Junior weight style more. Con: Unfortunately the earlier statement still holds true, that too many people from the fans to managment sees Funaki as a Loveable Jobber, who wins through Flukes. He maybe the transitional Champion as many suggested. But no matter how long the duration of the title reign they will undercut his accomplishments by calling him lucky. What do you guys think about Sho's Win?
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Definitely glad to see it. I think this was more of a "thank you" to Funaki from WWE for all the years of jobbing he has done. I hope they let him utilize some of these flashy moves you say he has (I've never seen him wrestle outside of WWE).
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 The last time I saw Funaki in the ring even close to a PPV< he jobbed to Jindrak at Judgment Day. I was so happy he won the number one contender's spot as I think it was one of those things that wouldn't happen so I figured he would be like Nunzio as just be Flavor of the month for Spike, but low and behold Funaki did it and he won the gold. (Has Funaki even won gold at all in his WWE career up until now?) Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy whose been with the company for what 6 years now? I for one am proud for Sho Funaki! SD's numba one CW champion!

Guest Mike Haseloff Report post Posted December 13, 2004 This was a long time coming! Ultimately, with word that the little guys aren't going to have a place at the top of WWE (did they ever?), I could actually see Funaki holding onto it. If stock in the Cruiserweights is going to drop, a comedy champ seems like it'd fit the WWE bill. It certainly wouldn't be the first time, and I'll tell you what. I'd much rather a Funaki than a Duane Gill or a Spike Dudley!
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I like that the underscore for the WWE forum was changed to FUNAKI! FUNAKI! FUNAKI! I'm glad they put the title on him. I would love it if he'd defend it weekly against someone new...try and at least start up the division.
Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I'm usually the first to roll my eyes at the conspiracy crap but I see this as nothing more then a nice back-handed bitchslap to the face of Paul Heyman. It was meant to say "Look the cruiserweight division is a joke and always will be, so support and fight for them all you want and we'll just make another meaningless title change to put you back in your place" I see why Rey, easily the top cw star, wants no part of the division anymore. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 Good for Funaki, but anyone who thinks he'll be elevated *with* the division instead of being used to drag the division down to his level (down, like, a proverbial inch or two, basically) is kidding him/herself. Are we sure Funaki's boyhood dream wasn't to bukkakel a blonde, large-breasted American gaijin bimbo?

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2004 I said it last night at the sports bar and I'll say it again: Spike Dudley needs a gimmick of being a Confederate officer of some kind. Colonel Dudley. That facial hair of his SCREAMS 1860s.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2004 If they really want to do the boyhood dream crap they should book Funaki exactly like HBK in 96, including accusations from a cruiser contender's wife that Funaki made a pass at her complete with shadowy women revealing their past affairs with SD!'s #1 announcer, plus a worked shoot angle where Funaki is knocked out by a Kidman enziguri, and eventually Funaki vacating the title and leaving the company when he "loses his smile" That's comedy!
