Black Lushus Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Okay, so I watched this movie again for the first time in like 10 years...the scene where Joe Pesci gets smoked...he realizes as he enters that room that he is about to get killed then BLAM...the question is, how does he realize this? Was there a signifigance with that particular room? did it just suddenly snap into his head before the bullet did as he entered the room?
AboveAverage484 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I've seen that movie several times and still didn't see anything. I've even paused it and looked at the room and didn't see anything striking. Maybe somebody can help us out here.
Special K Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I think it's the fact that the room is empty, as opposed to filled with some important mobsters there to see him be 'made'.
Ravenbomb Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 yeah, if he were getting made, there would probably have been people in the room. No people = not getting made = getting whacked
Guest Beingz0wningj00 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 The Italian gangsters are heavily known for their ability to make you feel everything is alright. so Spoilers if you haven't seen the movie Part of being a made guy, you can not be touched by the lower men on the totem. When Pesci killed that man in the restaurant, who was a made guy in another family... the other family ordered the life of Pesci. His own family had to whack him to prevent a war with rival clans. It's not like they are going to just say "Time to die, Tommy" so they told him he was finally being made. This allows Tommy to be unarmed and placed in the care of his family. So the empty room, like the guy above me said, none of his mob mates were there with him. Plus an empty room is easy to clean up all the blood.
Black Lushus Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Posted December 16, 2004 okay that makes sense...thanks!
The Mandarin Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 There's also a fish mounted on the wall.
Black Lushus Posted December 17, 2004 Author Report Posted December 17, 2004 ha! I noticed that and was like, ummmm does that MEAN something?
Guest TheLastBoyscout Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 ha! I noticed that and was like, ummmm does that MEAN something? Sleeping with the fishes, perhaps?
dpac Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Also how come towards the end when Ray Liotta hands the baby sitter the plane ticket, the ticket is blacked out?
GreatWhiteNope Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Also how come towards the end when Ray Liotta hands the baby sitter the plane ticket, the ticket is blacked out? The producers never got clearance to use the company's name. It was an American Airlines ticket - the company complained because they didn't want the movie to imply that they allowed cocaine dealers to go undetected. The ticket was blacked out in theatres as well.
