Last week, I took advantage of that Circuit City deal and picked up 6 PS2 games for $30. I've been dying to play them, but guess what I discovered after calling all 12 stores that sell video games in this area?

They were sold out.

How can they be sold out? A few days previously, I had been in GameCrazy and they had a ton. Besides, doesn't everyoen and their mother already own a PS2? Unless all of theirs broke down...

I am deeply saddened. I needs me a PlayStation 2.

There are NO PS2's or X-Box's anywhere here right now.

Kinda upset cause I wanted to buy my friend a new XBox to replace the one he has that's defective.

Late christmas present indeed.

Still plenty of them around where I live. Not many X-Box consoles but there are an ok amount of PS2s and a shitload of GameCubes.

Toys'R'Us and Electronics Boutique in Auburn, Mass had them just last Thursday. Toys'R'Us had a huge amount actually. They had them all up in the overstock.

Has anyone got one of those new smaller PS2 systems?

I have one of the new smaller PS2s. I didnt even know of there existance before I finally went to buy a PS2. It came out the week I bought it I was plesently suprised.

I think the reason you cant find any PS2s is because I know they discontinued the bigger one once the small one came out and alot of people couldnt get a PS2 for a while because of that and its probally just people getting the PS2 like they were planning on doing before....plus it is only a few days before christmas now all systems usually get a boost in sales around this time of year.

Aren't the refurbished ones better, anyway? I heard that they have all the bugs fixed. I bught mine new and had to send it in to get the disc tray.. whatever.. replaced because my games kept fucking up.

Oh, wait, you're talking about PS2. Well, uh, my question remains valid.

There just about as good as new, Sony put all new hardware in them but people still worry about buying them. I recommand buying a warreanty if its possible.

I'm having the same problem with the DS. The week after it launched, every store within 50 miles had no less than 25 of them, and now they are nowhere to be found.

The Gamecube is the easiest-to-find system around this area. I work at Radio Shack and we cant even begin to sell them. I have Metroid Prime Echoes on Demo at our store, and still cant get people to give it a second look.

Looks like the PS2 is the end-all, be-all system for this Holiday. Even pre-owned systems are gone from every game shop around here.

my PS2 is going on EBay, I suggest you buy it for a ludicrous amount of money.

Maybe someone can clarify this. I heard from a Circuit City worker that there were no PS2s available around Christmas because Sony fucked up again. Those slim PS2s have some sort of manufacturing defect that makes them break, so they all went back, meaning there were no PS2s in stock. They shouldn't ship back until February.

If my source is credible, of course. I don't think I fully trust him.

There was a problem with the shipments over in Asia.

The Yakuzas always take their share, first. :P

I've basically given up on the PS2 at the moment. I set a deadline of 1/1/05 for finding one since that's the last day I can get the CD's I want at Best Buy for $10 each as well as X-Men Legends for $35.

No stores have any systems in stock and they say they don't know when they'll get any more. If I can't find one tomorrow, which I doubt, I'll be trading in the 5 games I have for $100 store credit to go toward CDs or a GBA.

Besides, I have bought around 15 new console games in the past 2 months. I don't even have time for those. Why get more games now? They'll be just as much fun if I play them later. I can spend my money on other stuff. Either that, or with the GBA I can at least play outside, while traveling, etc. and get some old-school 2D goodness.

Then again, I change my mind constantly, so who knows what my plan will be tomorrow. I'm just tired of waiting for a PS2 right now.

Sorry for rambling.
