Guest Jason Report post Posted December 22, 2004 You will not see a team come back that quickly as the Dolphins did against the Patriots. In the final two quarters of the game, the Patriots were horrible. I'll admit, the Dolphins played one hell of a game last night. I will give them my props. I do not hope this happens again. This was a dismal performance from the Pats both on offense and defense. It was ultimately a bad game for Brady and the Pats. The Pats were defeated 29-28 by the Dolphins. Tom Brady played absolutely horrible. He threw 3 touchdowns, but with 4 interceptions. I have not seem him play that badly since his first year which was 2001. He threw just 18 of 29 for 171 yards. Don't tell me that was good. He has had bad games like this before but this was a shocker most didn't see coming. I hope he doesn't have another breakdown like this. Hopefully, he will be ready for the Jets Sunday. That game he must win. Corey Dillon, he was the only good player on the offense last night against Miami. He rushed 26 times for 126 yards. He scored one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown. He was the best player in my mind last night. He never fumbled or screwed up like the rest of his team. He deserved to get Horse Player of the game but I guess he didn't. He will have a big game, in my mind, against the New York Jets. The defense was, in my mind, possibly the worst I have seen them so far. They couldn't stop the Dolphins in the 3rd and 4th quarters. They didn't pick off anybody. Though they did sack AJ Feeley once. Not one single player on the defense can say they didn't try hard cause they did. They just didn't have the right stuff last night. Unless you count them against the Steelers. It just wasn't their game. We have had many times in which we lost dreadfully. I just don't want something like last night's game to happen to my Patriots. I hope they beat the Jets. That will get them their groove back. I speak for many Pats who would say it was just a horrible game for us. I hope this doesn't happen in the next two games. So I say, good luck to them in their next two and the Playoffs.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 22, 2004 then why don't you post your argument against my post if you disagree with me It's one game. Checkmate. Nope. The sky is falling. The Patriots are going to go on a 21 game losing streak. God forbid, had Bill Belichek only read jason's post at thesmartmarks!

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 It was an off-game, it happened to other teams this week too. Tampa lost to New Orleans, Green Bay lost to Jacksonville, Minnesota needed a missed extra point to beat the Lions, the Eagles struggled with Dallas, Pittsburgh almost got beat by the Giants, the Rams got dismantled by a team that lost to San Fran twice... It was a bad game, nothing more. It gives Pittsburgh homefield most likely, but it isn't a season breaker by any means.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 Guys, anytime a poster has a substantial post on a topic, he is more than welcome to start a new thread on the topic. I haven't seen a specific Patriots topic, so I see no reason for ridicule of this thread.
Guest bigm350 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I don't think New England should worry. I think they'll put it alltogether and be back in the Super Bowl again.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 22, 2004 Guys, anytime a poster has a substantial post on a topic, he is more than welcome to start a new thread on the topic. I haven't seen a specific Patriots topic, so I see no reason for ridicule of this thread. It's still ridiculous the Pats fans get their own piss and moan thread about losing to an undeserving team, but noone else has done the same for our own underachieving teams. I mean fuck, I could have started at least 3-5 threads on Green Bay's season alone, yet I haven't even thought of it because it's pointless and creates no real discussion other than to vent my frustration at losing. So, this gets filed under tough shit. -=X
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 If you started a thread every week, that would be one thing. It's not.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I wouldn't start my own thread on this either. But you care too much if you are getting bent of shape over this.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 22, 2004 Fair enough then. The Dolphins beat the Patriots because New England underestimated them and don't typically play well aginst their defense. Jason Taylor had a great night, and Tom Brady made some idiotic decisions based on what he'd been able to do in the past (as I'd previously stated in the NFL thread), particularly on the interception that he tried to complete while falling down. I wish I had a defense that played as hard as Miami did last night, and I have a lot of respect for Jim Bates as a coach that's basically taken a team whose season is in the shitter and made them proud enough to earn a win. So there's my contribution. I wouldn't start my own thread on this either. But you care too much if you are getting bent of shape over this. I don't really care enough to get bent of shape over it, I was merely giving reason for the ridicule, which I feel is justified since there's already a discussion thread about it. Anyways, moving on..
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I guess the Dolphins and the orange jerseys are like the anti U of L black jerseys. Whenever they wear em, it's a guarranteed win. I'm torn on the ramifications of this loss for the Pats though. On one hand I think it could be a sign of things to come, since it likely cost them home field and could come back to haunt them. But then it could just be a meaningless loss too if they bounce back and return to the SB.
Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 It was the orange jerseys. The Dolphins came back last year against the Redskins on a Sunday night game wearing those jerseys. Am I the only person that freaking loves those orange jerseys? Awesome awesomeness is the only phrase that describes them. I commented Monday night that the only way they could improve them would be to be wearing orange pants too! Okay but seriously - the make a buck third jersey trend is just a wee bit out of hand. And to contribute to the thread: Miami certainly was not undeserving of the win, they played hard, and exposed Brady for the fraud that he is. The Next Montana he is not. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I wouldn't go so far as to call Brady a total fraud. The guy has 2 rings regardless. I like to consider him the Honky Tonk Man of football, just one lucky mofo. The whole thing against the Raiders in the playoffs, the countless times that the Pats seemingly get an INT on someone at the goal line, or a bullshit fumble. I swear these guys are like the Ohio St. of pro football. Just constantly getting luckier than fuck. Some of that is talent I guess, but not ALL those times. I think that's why I have a hard time considering the Pats one of the best teams ever. They just strike me as the Chris Chandler Falcons who went 14-2 if they didn't have to play the Broncos in the Super Bowl and get squashed.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I still can't wrap my head around the belief that winning 21 straight games is mostly luck, and not the fact that they have a shitload of playmakers and a coaching staff that loves to befuddle their opponents. If BenRo wins 15 straight games and the Superbowl, will THAT be luck too?

I love the orange jerseys too. I personally hate it when teams wear dominant white jerseys at home, for some reason that always struck me as odd. The other sports are more guilty of it than football though. Oh, and how about this alternate jersey since we're talking about alternates-> Just found that looking for alternate jerseys. I was looking for a yellow Vikings jersey, but was unable to. I like the big cheese uni's, though. And personally, I don't believe Tom Brady is a fraud at all. The guy gets it done in the clutch and plays like a superstar, but all great QB's have off days. I was somewhat surprised noone made mention of this one pass he made in the 3rd quarter, even though it was incomplete, it was a perfectly thrown bomb, it traveled a good 50-60 yards or so in the air, but the amazing part was that it was dead accurate if it wasn't played so well by the Miami DB. He's got all the tools to be great, and he already basically is in my opinion. Hell, he already has more Super Bowl rings than my favorite QB. I think that's why I have a hard time considering the Pats one of the best teams ever. They just strike me as the Chris Chandler Falcons who went 14-2 if they didn't have to play the Broncos in the Super Bowl and get squashed. They were lucky they were beneficiaries of another Minnesota chokejob. Those 98 Vikes (as I've said many times before) was one of the most dominant teams I'd ever seen, and had no right losing in the NFC Championship. If BenRo wins 15 straight games and the Superbowl, will THAT be luck too? No, that would be a byproduct of managing the ever-popular "Trent Dilfer 2000" offense. Off the top of my head, the Leafs, Wings, Blackhawks, Cowboys, and a few others just look cool in white. The Bears have been wearing navy blue pants now on the road and it's not as cool as the old all-white getup. Anyway, my point is, white is better at home.
