Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Best beer and it's nowhere to be found in this miserable fucking city.
1234-5678 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 You're just going to have to settle for a Heineken or a Labatt Blue, my friend. Take a deep breath, we're going to get you through this.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 This past Sunday, I took Agent to this place that had a great beer selection (not that he cared ) and they don't carry it.
1234-5678 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Ok, Tecate? Amstel Light? Molson XXX?!
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Tecate and Molson are alright, but I like drinking those superfancy imports. For instance, in the first pic in that Agent/Inc meet thread, the pint in front of me contains the wonderful Spaten Optimator, with a 9% alcoholic content.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Minutes ago, I finally realized every beer website extant is flash, which I hate. Also, I derive a perverse pleasure from reading the labels on bottles of Molson.
1234-5678 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Well, speaking as a true connoisseur, I can say I have had Stella on one occasion, and it was quite excellent. 8/10 Of course this is coming from someone who has drank something called "American" beer the past few weeks, and that is $7 a case.
The Czech Republic Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Incandenza looks like a Colt .45 man to me.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 I drank Steel Reserve, once. For the day or two following, you couldn't convince me that it didn't give me esophageal cancer.
The Czech Republic Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 My grandfather died from esophageal cancer. That's an evil disease.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Steel Reserve is an evil brew.
1234-5678 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 My grandfather died from esophageal cancer. That's an evil disease. Mine too, although I'm not sure whether or not Steel Reserve caused it.
Special K Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Stella is excellent. I would recommend perhaps Sopporo as an alternative? It's an excellent, crisp beer, as is Asahi Dry though Sapporo is better. Pilsner Urquell is pretty good too.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Never had Asahi Dry, but I'm familiar with and like the others you mentioned. That I can't have Stella whenever I want is most maddening, not that I can't find a beer similar to it.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 You fuckers have the worst taste in Canadian beer. Molson XXX? are you fucked? Labatts Blue is the worst of the major beers. Swill.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 You fuckers have the worst taste in Canadian beer. Molson XXX? are you fucked? Labatts Blue is the worst of the major beers. Swill. Those two + Moosehead = the only Canadian beers you can find with any ease around these parts. Moosehead's the best of the three, obv.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Oh, I forgot La Fin du Monde and their ilk. Good stuff.
1234-5678 Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 Ah I did forget about Moosehead. And I have a 12 pack of it sitting in the fridge left over from New Year's.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Canadian beer doesn't like going this far south, I guess. I've never seen any other than the ones I've already mentioned.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 There's a lot of Kokanee around here. That one is okay. Look for Alexander Keiths. MmmmmmmmmmmmK
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 I've seen Alexander Keiths in Orlando, which is two hours south of here (same place where I had Stella the other day), but I've never had it.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 I've seen Alexander Keiths in Orlando, which is two hours south of here (same place where I had Stella the other day), but I've never had it. Its quite delicious. I'd drink Stella if it weren't so bloody expensive here. When I splurge, I go for Red Stripe. I'm such a pimp.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 You can order a 12-pack of Stella from the company itself, but it's $39. Granted, that covers tax, shipping, gift wrapping and some sort of special message, but do I really need the last two? And do those things really need to drive the price so high?
PLAGIARISM! Posted January 6, 2005 Report Posted January 6, 2005 So stella isn't commercially available in the US yet? It's everywhere here, but it's known as 'wifebeater' and makes people fight. I like it, but I'm too cheap these days.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 The fact that I'm a cheap bastard cancels out any desire I might have to buy alcohol/drugs on a regular basis. I guess that's a good thing.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 So stella isn't commercially available in the US yet? It's available. It's just I can't find it anywhere in my town, in spite of having a couple of bars with an extensive beer selection.
