Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted January 6, 2005 - RAW did a 3.4 rating this week off hours of 3.2 and 3.5. The rating is viewed as a disappointment due to this being the first week since Monday Night Football ended, as well as the high profile Triple H vs. Randy Orton match that headlined the show. - Velocity did a 0.4; Experience did a 0.5; and Heat did a 0.8. Credit: PWInsider.com hopefully this means we wont get HHH/Orton at WMXXI

razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 So what does this say? During the "hot" period when Raw was getting 3.9 for a month it proved that people want to see HHH lose the title but when the main event is HHH vs Orton the ratings go back to the norm of 3.5..... So is this the case of "giving away matches on free tv" or a case of OMG they made Benoit into a jobber in the hour so I refuse to watch the rest of the show? Or is it that nobody cares about good ol JR defending America with his cowboy hick logic?

Enigma 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 or a case of OMG they made Benoit into a jobber in the hour so I refuse to watch the rest of the show? You people really, really go overboard on the paranoia about Chris Benoit. Some of you forget about the fact that HHH was his bitch for ALL of 2004 just because he puts over Batista. Jeez, chill out. He's got to lose once and a while. It seems like you want Benoit to do the very thing you hate about HHH (always winning).
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Let's not forget, Triple H has never beat Chris Benoit.... ...unless you remember Benoit's debut match against him in February 2000 on Smackdown! and later that year at No Mercy.

JR, you are no Gordon Solie. I usually can't stand Coach on commentary but did anyone else feel that the show had a completely different feel/fresh feel to it when he was doing play by play by himself? I don't know if it's because it had been so long since I've heard a one man commentary, probably since Joey Styles, oh yeah, once when Tazz had to go solo due to Michael Cole running away from Heidenreich. I think one of my main problems with Raw right now, besides HHH and a poor creative team, is that the show needs freshened up and that includes disbanding JR and the King on commentary. At the very least, get Austin or someone in there as a third commentator. I'd like to see JR in a President of WWE camera role and Lawler could either host Kings Court or be a backstage interviewer. Put them together on PPV's from time to time perhaps.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 That's it WWE needs to push Regal to the main event. Only the Man's Man Manager can bring new life into the main event scene. Regal still needs to get revenge for all of the abuse (Mental & Physical) that HHH has done to Eugene.

Jericho should comment when he retires, he does a class job of it. Flair is just fantastic on the mike.

Regal should have faced Tista instead of Rhyno in their beat the clock challange match, would have made more sense. Benoit should have faced Snitsky, not bloody Viscera. What sense does it make to bury one half of your tag team champions? And not 'bury' but...well, have him lose in 3 minutes. Whether Batista's a monster or not. And I still don't get why it's ever thought of as a 'disappointment' the ratings not high when big things happen..if they aren't advertised. What if the RKO/HHH match, can, in fact draw well, how the hell were people supposed to know it was going to happen? Well, if they missed the beginning. And yes, I know it was mentioned a few times throughout the show, but whatever. Sort of how it's 'disappointing' if there isn't a huue jump when the Rock shows up. Dandy 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I would like to see Raw go back to the announcers being at ringside (which would coincide with a new set, of course), and have the announcing done by Coach and Chris Nowinski. Of course, if you dont advertise, you only get the hardcore no matter what fans. I remember they did a staced show early in the year I think when Bischoff announced 5 mathces the same week SD! had a PPV. RAW was way better. I meant it as on what grounds did Rhyno had a right to even look at the Chamber. Christian used to be there or thereabouts plus he has history with Jericho, Orton and Maven have a bit of a storyline together over the SurSer match, Shelton-HHH have a back story (which wasnt played up much) and Eugene (love him or hate him) was making waves around Vengence. At least people seem to accept Snitsky being a replacement for Viscera, although I see myself open to attack on that, due to the fact that your killing Snitsky. My point is that Regal and Snitsky have more of a right than Rhyno and Viscera did to be in the Chamber.

Yes, honestly it did. I loved it because (and I know its been said for years) JR and Lawler are just so fucking stale. At least with Coach being out there solo they can divert from the usual commentator interaction.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted January 7, 2005 3 Man Commentary Teams are not Death, See, Schiavone, Heenan, and Tenay 1996-1998. Are you shitting me? Tony Schiavone sucked from 1993-on. Bobby Heenan was in serious cruise control mode. Mike Tenay was the only bright spot. And whats the hard on for Chris Nowinski? I can guarantee that if he came back for a few months, everyone would be tired of him and wish he were stuck doing Heat duty again.
