Every one of Jack's bosses has been killed in the previous 3 seasons...but the hitch to that trend is that its Heller who's technically his boss time around.

Tony Almeda was Jack's boss last season. Chapelle was Almeda's boss...

Tony wasn't Jack's boss, they each ran seperate divisions of CTU. Tony had intel and Jack was field.

Jack had the authority to relieve Tony of command, but Tony still ran the unit.

If this is how this season is going to be, I'm on board.

In season three, neither Tony nor Jack were in charge of each other.

Dude this show just keeps throwing stuff at you.

Did anyone else let out a cheer when Black CTU guy told Driscoll: "Looks like Jack was right, Ma'am."

It's not the first time that Jack has been right over a dept. head.

First hour of the first season, he blackmailed Mason into telling him the source on the Palmer hit. It's steamrolled from there. I don't think it'll be the last time either. It's only a matter of time before Driscoll's weakness is exploited by Jack (it's his habit...first with the Drazens in season 1, then with George in season 2, and he did the same thing with Saunders in season 3.) and he gets her into an uncomfortable situation where he's given carte blanche to do whatever he pleases.

I meant more for this season.

Driscoll, Sarah, Chloey, and Mary Anne are all distrustful and manipulative.

Chloe's trusting, since she trusted Jack with Andrew's life.

Driscoll is a hardass, a manipulative hardass. Sarah is stupid, I already don't like her. Marianne is annoying already in a character that already appeared in season 2 (Carrie...Michelle's arch-nemesis)

I'm just amazed that people STILL question Jack.

Somebody hit the nail on the head.

Jack Bauer pretty much single handedly saved the United States three times already. Every time there were 25 people trying to get in his way and tell him he was wrong. Why can't they just let Jack do what he wants anymore? He's always right!

I'll be disappointed if schemin' Arab-Americans turn out to be the center of all evil. It's awfully passe and an easy stereotype. Of course, we'll be at surly Canadian fascists for villains by the time we get through all 24 hours.

Not for p.c. Hollywood. They usually rely on the right-wing militia groups.

Watched tonight's eps. Digging the pacing, but I almost feel overloaded; I never thought I'd say this, but I'll be really glad to going back to just one hour a week.

I'll lodge my one complaint now and say that I really, REALLY hate the EVIL ARAB FAMILY storyline. It's so simplistic and really almost insulting. They tried to pay lip-service to the "not all Arab-Americans are terrorists!" idea with that scene at the father's business, suggesting that the Araz family are the exception to the rule, but I thought the 24 writers would be a little more sophisticated than creating a creepy murderess Arab wife. Arabs want to kill our white teenage girls, guys! Better stop 'em!

Entertainment doesn't have an obligation to be socially conscious, but come on. If you need a villain, work on writing some people with depth, not preying on the nation's biggest fears with some shallow, stereotypical "terrorist" figures. 4 hours in an the Araz family are scheming caricatures. I'm disappointed in the usually reliable writers' inability to come up with something more interesting and less ridiculous. I still hold out hope that they will as more gets revealed, but I'm rolling my eyes presently.

God forbid the show reflect some sort of reality. The country's biggest threat comes from fundamentalist Islam, so what's wrong with having them behind a plot? I'm sure everyone will be real happy if it's a right wing militia group in the end reciting the second amendment before doing something insane.

They already did most of that in Season 2, though. It's old hat. It's boring. If they're going to go with generic A-rab terrorists, at least make them interesting. So far we have heavy-breathing people who don't use contractions. I want something unique out of this, and I expect more from these writers.

Of course. It just so happens that this time out, a big part of the writing's mediocrity is a bunch of really dopey stereotypes. Improve one and I think you improve the other.

Not like I'm going to stop watching or anything. This remains my favorite show on right now, and this season is off to a good start.

It's not really a muslem sterotype to protray the wife and mother has strong as this show is doing. In fact, that's something I had trouble getting past. Would the father even let his wife be so involved, if he was this hardcore muslem?

Not really. Season 2 had the "twist" of Kingsley and others (including Sherry) being behind the whole attack for their own political gain. In the end, it had very little to do with any fundamentalist Islam scheme which is where this season seems to be heading.

I'll take a scenario like this season's story that is relavent and makes sense to some of the twists and turns from seasons 2 and 3. It might have been less predictable to do the million twists in season 3 from bad guy to bad guy, but in the end it had very little impact. I had to sit here for a minute to think of who the final "bad guy" was in that season and I am an avid 24 fan. I'll take this "simplistic" storyline (as you put it) over twist and turns for the sake of twists and turns.

I hope the story sticks to where it has gone the first four hours. I personally don't want to find out (again) that the people we thought were the bad guys (the fundamentalists) are actually pawns of some other group unless it really, really, makes sense. So far, I am more excited about this story than any sense the first half of season 2.

I was reading some article and they were talking about how strong the wife/mother was. It's a big part of the storyline and comes down to something huge down the line.
