Stop blowing your collective loads, they just didn't want to pull the trigger. Dave saving H's reign and not getting his credit is a good angle. They still have time to properly build this angle. Plus, they need more footage for the feud’s video package.

I hope you're right...they really need to do HHH and Batista at Mania so they still have time to build the match through the Rumble....we'll see. It just felt like the angle was killed by the way it was booked...I'm not asking for a hotshot Batista turn but at least something different.

Reasons the main event was a piece of shit, and nowhere near the ***/**** touted earlier in the thread:

- Everyone attacked everyone, with no regard to previous storylines

- Moves were broken up, even when it was to the detriment of the person breaking the move; in a multi-person elimination match, you should let people beat the fuck out of each other, and not piss anyone off unless you have to. Didn't happen at ALL.

- None of the tension with Batista(~!) and HHH was touched upon, even when Dave saved HHH from certain tap-out in the Walls / Crossface combo

- serious lack of using the cage to anyone's advantage. There were maybe half a dozen moves utilising it, if that.

- The ending was a total fucking anti-climax - everyone was excited about finally seeing Batista beat the fuck out of HHH... but nothing, he was still Hunter's bitch.

The rest of the show was so "blah" it deserves no comment whatsoever

Another announcer fuck-up:

*Randy Orton shows up on the entrance ramp before entering the Elimination Chamber, with the crowd reacting in silence*

Lawler:"What an ovation!"

Oh yeah, it also didn't help that neither Carlito Cool (I know he's on SD, but still) or Savio Vega didn't make an apperance since the damn PPV was in Puerto Rico! I would have marked out!

Randy Orton is young, good looking, and getting better in the ring. But he will NEVER EVER EVER be over huge as a babyface because he's a complete and utter tool, and nothing will ever help him overcome that.

That's the problem. Nobody buys him at all. He just seems like he's trying too hard to be like the Rock. For those that were complaining in the summer about HHH being the face in the feud, Orton as the face is much worse. They should have had Orton stay heel. They might have had a shot then. Nobody is going to cheer for Orton over HHH,l let alone the badass Batista.

Orton isn't a bad wrestler. He's better than Batista is. But I just can't cheer for the guy.

They could have split Orton from Evolution without turning him into a shove-down-the-throat babyface. He would have been fine as a lone wolf tweener type character that was still a snotty prick. He'll never get over as a face because the fans see through him and realize he's a douche.

He's doing just fine at it right now.

Yes, I took out the word huge. Because fact is, no one is 'over huge' anymore. (not even guys like Jericho or RVD..they're reactions aren't really considered huge) But, fact is, wrestling is in a different era now, no one is getting/going to get Rock, or Austin at their peak reactions. At least not for a while. Most of you just grade crowd reaction to harshly, unless of course, you like the person. Then even a few people clapping, is grounds for them getting a push. And is louder then anything *insert random smark hated wrestler* ever gets.

Well it's every man for himself.

What about when they faced off but then were attacked by Benoit and Y2J

They used the cage and the metal a lot. HHH got backdropped on there tons of times.

The ending was a total fucking anti-climax - everyone was excited about finally seeing Batista beat the fuck out of HHH... but nothing, he was still Hunter's bitch.

It's the slow burn so when he finally does it- it'll be really awesome. Batista beating the fuck out of him now would be too soon

He makes a helluva heel, though.

If it makes anyone feel better, I was going through some old tapes the other day and found an old Smakcdown where Randy gets DESTROYED~! by Brock Lesnar.

Is there any reason to watch now?

Benjamin is still IC Champ.

You mean Shelton "Generic Old School Face" Benjamin? No thanks.

But he's a great athlete! He played football and ran track and wrestled! If he was only a third generation athlete, JR would cream his pants everytime he saw him! :)

FACT: Batista gets more cheers than Orton. That's the only thing that matters. And it is a problem if Orton is designated as the next big thing.

Orton will always get a pop for the RKO. DDP always got a huge pop for the diamond cutter, too. But the fans aren't latching onto the guy. That's pretty obvious. I'm not here saying they should push Benoit back to the top or something, because they shouldn't. I'm just saying that Orton shouldn't be a face. He'll get screams from the girls who think he's handsome, but he will never be over bigtime as a babyface. (unless his character changes completely or something)

It should be noted that I blame Orton for none of this. He wasn't the one that booked himself to look so week during the Evolution breakup and his run as champ. He HAD to beat HHH at Unforgiven. If that had happened, things might have turned out differently. Instead, he's just seen as another loser, especially since he spent the entire feud to that point getting either beat up by Evolution or running from Evolution.

To surmise, and save me a full review (do I have to write one of those?):

A mediocre PPV sold on one unproven gimmick match that failed to deliver, and a mix of hastily thrown together and resurrected undercard matches that were too dull to even be worthy of Raw, even if they were extended. The Elimination Chamber barely touched on the two reasons to care about it; the omgholyshit cage, and the increasingly complex backstory between participants. Everyone wrestled it as "me vs. 5", and as such there were no alliances / hatreds, even though they should have been natural.

Thumbs way down on a PPV that failed to deliver any sort of Revolution to fans that are desperate to cheer Batista and have the belt away from HHH.

There are plenty of new young guys on the rise...but are any of them exciting? Shelton Benjamin is, I'd have to say. But Hassan? He showed tonight he can't work a match.

To his defense, he was facing old slow fat fuck announcer Lawler.

I agree to a point, but a "piece of shit" match?

Come on, it wasn't Kane/Snitksy!

Previous feud's were not touched upon as much as I would've liked, but I just enjoyed the pace of the match. All wrestlers in the match have feuded before, so to seek out anything individually past Edge-Michaels or Orton-HHH (the only hot feuds boiling at the moment) is kind of nitpicky.

The bumps were brutal. Jericho's performance tonight really sold what kind of beatings come from an Elimination Chamber match. His performance MADE the chamber match for me.

And regarding the comment about moves being broken up, I'll have to watch it again, but I can't recall any specific instance where that happened.

On the double submission, Batista broke it up. That's all I can recall.

The tension factor wasn't featured and that's what really took away from the match. The subtle references with the lack of a pin breakup weren't enough. I agree with you on that.

The one wrestler that could've used the cage to his advantage was Jericho, but then again, RVD kind of used most of the offense one could come up with. Benoit did come off the top of the chamber though.

And yes, the ending was totally a buzzkill.

Ok, I understand that this would've been a good place to turn Batista, but everyone's saying how Batista/HHH could main event Wrestlemania and be for the title. It could be one of the biggest events to happen this year. So wouldn't it make more sense to do the turn on something that a lot more people would be watching instead of a "Throwaway PPV" that probably got between 200-250,000 buys? Saving it for Raw when more people are watching or even for the Rumble would be best because more people would buy that then NYR.

If they turn Batista by the end of Rumble or the Raw afterwards (and to be nice, I'll give them the Raw after the Raw after the Rumble), then you should feel ripped off and start bitterly hating the WWE and their idiocy when it comes to booking.

I'm saying they should, for the time being. I maintain that the real best shot for a big draw isn't Orton, and it isn't Batista either, it is Edge. This lone wolf heel run got over huge, and now they are probably going to blow it by having him lose too much. Edge should have beaten Benoit at Mania for the belt and then have a JBL-length run for the rest of the year.
