NFC Wild Card Playoffs

Recommended Posts

That and they had to DO IT FOR TEH CONFERENCE!

You're aware that really only applies with college sports, right. Well, that and the NFL only has two conferences, with eight divisions.

It made as much sense in my context as it did in anyone else's.

Walkers injury, Lack of Defense, Favre sucking, Fumbles and Culpepper OWNING us did it in for us. I know we weren't going far with our defense anyway so this really isnt a disappointment. Carrol needs to go, and they need to pick up a FA Cornerback because Al Harris isnt a #1 cornerback.

Anyone know any good cornerbacks for sale?

Once the Moss thing was overblown you knew that Minnesota was going to come out and win the game.

I also would like to congratulate Steve Young for going 0-4 in his playoff picks. How could you pick the Broncos over the Colts is beyond me.

Oh, god, give it up Kahran. Vikings fans aren't nearly as annoying as fans from other teams.

Nice win for the Vikes. I don't like their chances against the Eagles' defense, but I do like the lack of TO. If they can make Pinkston afraid to get hit and make a few stops, they could pull it out.

Vikings are going to have to stop Westbrook if they want to win, I think he got about 150 all-purpose yards against Minnesota back in Week 2. As I have said, Moss is going to have to play a great game even if that ankle's bad against the Eagle secondary.

When did I become a Vikings fan? I just don't like the Packers. I remember their killing Bledsoe in the Super Bowl.

Im not gonna even bother watching the NFC games.

Colts-Pats should be interesting, can Peyton finally beat the Patriots or will another outstanding season be disappointed in Foxboro.

Has any other QB ever been so miserable against one single team before?

Guys, don't hate on Collinsworth for calling it classless, him and Aikman didn't mention it. All the other uptight suits did though, from Joe Buck to the sideline reporters to the studio crew. Howie Long, Bradshaw and JB should be ashamed for distracting from the game by bitching about Randy AGAIN. I like how JJ is like "but to make it positive".

You wanna bitch about him, you wanna bitch about his attitude, I don't many players who don't care about their team or the game yet would score two touchdowns in a big game situation while hobbling off the field. Yeah, he doesn't play hard at all.

People can't seem to tell the difference between playing hard and playing without a personality. Sure, he was offensive, if you're already going into the game with the bias that he's Satan. I LIKE the Pack and wanted them to win, but I'm glad Randy stepped it up and showed that he plays harder then most give him credit for.

GB media is saying Darren Sharper has played his last game as a Packer

And saying "Nall wouldn't be that big of a drop off at QB"

Two questions:

1. What the hell did Tice do this last week?

2. Why the hell didn't he do it sooner?

Now I can laugh at all the Pack fans who wanted to go avenge the "Lambeau Legacy" in Atlanta

It's dead.

Oh geez, don't talk about Sherman's future being uncertain in Green Bay. I can't think of a replacement that would do any better.

Given the "talent" that Sherman has surrounded Favre with, I think almost any replacement could come in and do a better job as the General Manager.

As a coach, Sherman's just trying to make the best of a bad situation, though he seriously needs to reign in Brett Favre, who just seems to be chucking the ball up more and more every year. Take a look at these two stat lines this year:

30 TDs, 17 INTs, 4088 yards

27 TDs, 20 INTs, 4089 yards

The top one is Brett Favre. The bottom one is Jake Plummer.

There's not that great of a difference, especially when you consider that the Packers were inexplicably pass-happy this year (598 pass attempts to 441 carries).

13 and 7 is almost twice the TD-INT difference. I'd say that's big.

This game was awful though.

I did see the safety go after Caroll, if he didn't fuck up the Pack might have had a chance to win this game. The fact that he wore boxing gloves and even that didn't work, means that he has serious discipline problems in regards to penalities.

Well, 7 pages in and I can see enough taunting has been done, so I'll rear my head and give my congratulations to the Vikings. I like that the announcers pointed out how Moss has all that talent, but no class. Like, no shit? He's been that way since he was drafted, that isn't anything surprising. Moss is Thug Life, yo. Or so he thinks he is.

The scary thing about Minnesota was how well their defense played today. They have one of the best offenses in the NFL- Despite losing Mike Flanagan at the beginning of the year- but had a hell of a bad luck streak with Walker, Green, and Clifton all going out with injuries. That doesn't take away the job the Minnesota front seven did. Wow.

If they play that way against Philly next week, Eagles fans will be feeling the same way we did today. I've said it time and time again, the Vikings probably are the most talented team in the NFC, but have been held back consistently by their lack of commitment to defense and bad coaching. Both those things were fixed, and now if Eagles fans aren't worried, they better be.

My mom asked me (of course this was during the heat of the game when I was all into it) what I was hoping would happen in the Philly-Minnesota game next week. My initial response was this->

Ukgrable1.jpg

However, I've calmed down quite a bit and decided that Minnesota is not a team I'd be ashamed in losing to (other than the typical rivalry things), and I've grown to hate Eagles fans more and more while spending time on this board, adding to my slight dislike of their team already. There's no excuse for going 4-5 at home and 6-2 on the road, dropping every single big game that we've had to play (The only two team Sherman's beat as Packers coach was a wussed-out 49er team that backed into the playoffs, and they STILL had a great chance of beating us and a lucky OT win against Seattle), and of course, the firing of Ed Donatell last year which led to Bob "Revenge of the Nerds" Slowik, which prompted Mike McKenzie to be pissed with the defensive shake-up and leave, leaving us with one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Sherman's just not a fiery guy, he seems like he plans well, gets his team ready, but doesn't have them motivated. They were undisciplined, turned the ball over too much, and allowed way too many big plays on defense, looking more like the 1-4 Packers rather than the NFC North (I guess we can call it the NFC Norse now?) Champs. Sherman the GM should have been over and done with a LONG time ago, I heard that Sherman has a year left on his contract, and it wouldn't surprise me to see his GM duties be stripped from him, as well as a changeup in coordinators, if not the whole coaching staff altogether.

On the subject of the players, Favre had yet another terrible playoff performance, although most of the INT's he threw today weren't TOTALLY his fault, but it is maddening to see those things happen and make me wonder if Craig Nall would be an upgrade over Favre at this point. He may not have the same zing on the ball (I don't think anyone outside of Manning, Elway, Marino, and Aikman do, to be honest), but maybe he wouldn't be trying to make something out of nothing and end up throwing picks instead. Al Harris, I believe, is still a decent corner, but he severely lacks in speed, and since they began enforcing the illegal contact rule, he just may not be what we're looking for anymore. Harris did an okay job on Moss, but he got completely scorched (as would 95% of the DB's in the league) on the second Moss TD, and had no idea where the ball was on the first Moss TD. But Harris is just that- a DECENT corner, but by no means can anyone consider him to be the premier cornerback you need to defend against the higher-octane defenses. It worked when McKenzie was there, because McKenzie had the speed and intelligence to make it work, but not with Ahmad Carroll.

Anyways, I've done enough ranting today. I'll take this loss as it is, and accept the fact that they've had a bad year and just have happened to catch a ton of lucky breaks (particularly against Washington and both Minnesota games), as KC will tell you, no matter how great your QB and the offense is, you still need a defense to take you into and beyond the playoffs. Here's to next year!

Just watched Prime Time and they declined to show the offending footage...

So lemme get this straight, they can show the worst sports brawl in history countless times every day since the offending incident occured, but they won't show somebody "pretending" to moon the crowd.

BTW, Randy talks like a white guy from the south, da-hyuck.

Personally, I think Brett Favre's illegal forward pass was more of a disgrace than the mooning.

I'm stealing a quote from the "blowing" thread by saying that all the guys on ESPN, CBS, FOX, etc. need to have their "lips surgically removed" from Brett Favre's nutsack, so of course everyone has a good laugh when they see it; nevermind the fact that the five yard penalty was followed by a missed field goal right before the half but I digress.

Funny you mention that, considering the media is clamoring for Favre to retire since he apparently "doesn't have it anymore", after this game.

I doubt that's the way he'll want to go out, though.

I think you mean "NFC Norris", like Berman always says, referring to the days when the NHL had a huge awesome five-way mega-rivalry between the Black Hawks, Red Wings, North Stars, Maple Leafs, and Blues.

Or Norse, because the Vikings. I just realized that but I'm not going to go back and delete a perfectly good anecdote about when the NHL was good.

I can't believe that Green Bay lost a playoff game @ Lambeau again. *sigh* Let alone to the Vikings whom were lucky to even MAKE the playoffs.

Next thing you know Farve will announce his retirement. :( The "rebuilding" stage is quickly approaching.

Now I'm in a state of depression. Notre Dame's coach gets unjustifyable released, and they get smoked in their bowl game. I can't even name the current Cubs roster right now. And now this. :(
