Maven eliminating The Undertaker at RR 2002, Brock F5ing Matt Hardy out of the ring at RR 2003 4.) Ax Vs. Smash, RR 1990 5.) Chris Benoit Vs. Chris Jericho, RR 2001 6.) Jake Roberts, RR 1992 7.) Bret and Lex being co-fucking winners instead of Bret winning solo, The 1995 RR having 1 minute intervals, Bret Vs. Adam 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2005 1. Angle vs. Benoit from 2003 immediately springs to mind, as well as Triple H vs. Cactus Jack in 2000. I really can't pick between those, I just love them both. 2. 2004, followed by 1992 and 2001. I marked like a bitch for Benoit winning last year, and looking back on '92 was a lot of fun, to see guys like Hogan, Savage, Piper, Flair, and the rest in the same ring. 3. I really don't know this one. The F-5 to the outside on Matt Hardy in 2003 was cool, as well as Kane double-crossing RVD for the same year. Hurricane trying to double chokeslam HHH and Austin and then getting eliminated in 2002 got a laugh out of me. 4. Probably Triple H returning in 2002 with only Austin in the ring. Major mark out moment, had to happen that those two would be in the ring at the same time with no one else. Really really good entrance and play by JR and King. 5. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit in the IC Title Ladder match in 2001 was awesome, definately the best non-rumble non-world title match. 6. Hmmm, I really don't know. The Rock in 2000 was hilarious, and basically every top guy in 1992 was cool as well, with everyone doing a short promo. Rock from 2000 is my pick. 7. I didn't like Undertaker getting eliminated by Maven, just because I wanted to see Taker in the last 5 or so. I would have loved to see Kane win it in 2000, 2001 or 2003 when he came close. The line-up was probably the best ever in terms of people who actually meant something to the business. Besides that, it was also a fantastically booked match with superb commentary. And it was cool to see Flair vs. Von Erich, Sid, Valentine etc. again. 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? Hurricane in '02 and Bossman clotheslining himself in '92 tie. Taka doesn't count, but if he did then he'd be top. 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Too many to choose from. Demolition in '89. Austin/HHH in '02. Warrior/Hogan in '90. Flair/Piper in '92. The Savage/DiBiase vs. Piper/Jake period in '90. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Rockers vs. Orient Express, '91. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? Rock in 2002, because the early year ones were entertaining but kept short, so none stand out on their own really. 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? 1995 in it's entirety. As said before, if 1992 Rumble Match counts, that one... if not... I believe it was 96 or 97... Bret/Undertaker... fun match until Nash (as Diesel) interfered. 2.) Favorite Rumble match? I'm biased to 2001 since I was there. 93 was great fun watching too though. The ending with Savage being bench pressed over the top was pretty cool. 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? Hogan pulling Sid out of the ring with Flair's help in 1992 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Maven and Undertaker in 2002. Welcome to the WWE Maven! Also Bret/Luger 1994 resulting in the dual elimination/victory. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Not a great match per se, but Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. The Mountie in 1992 was historic in it was Piper's first WWF/WWE singles title. It also provided an extra story line that night with the whole "can he be the first person to win 2 titles in one night?" 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? All of them for 1992 and 1993. After that they seemed to have lost their touch. I remember once Big Boss Man saying "Royal Rumble, 29 men, all serving hard time.." and the running joke with my best friend after Bossman got eliminated was "Nope you're serving hard time, no title for you." Also the arrogance Jeff Jarrett had in his one return saying "I'm throwing my hat into the Royal Rumble" just screamed to me at the time "HATE HIM!" 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? One minute b/t entrants in 1995. Took away from an awesome rumble win by HBK. Also anytime a move like a stunner or pedigree is used as an elimination move. I mean any other time someone got the stunner, they're laid out. In retrospect, Vince had WAY too much of a hard-on for Yoko in 93. The man had been on TV 3 months and he killed Savage to win it. Savage vs. Bret at Mania would have been so much better. It was so over-the-top unbelievable that it always makes me laugh. especially considering the numerous times in battle royals and rumbles that NUMEROUS guys are needed to haul out the big guys and even then it doesn't always work...even when they have momentum going... Schiavone sold it like a major deal. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? The Rockers vs. The Orient Express from 1991. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? (loosely paraphrased) "The Rock only fears two people: Headbanger Mosh and Crash Holly. And if The Rock can get past them, maybe he can win the Royal Rumble." 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? Mae Young exposing herself at the 2000 Royal Rumble. Ballsy of WWF to insert some comedy in the middle of one of the most heated feud at the time. 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Cactus Jack vs. Chainsaw Charlie in 1998 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Tazz vs. Kurt Angle in 2000 especially how Tazz ended up getting treated as a minor league chump in the coming years. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? Ted DiBiase's in 1989 where he ended up buying a Twin Tower's #30 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble The 60 second intervals in 1995. Yoko winning in 1993. I have a real soft spot for Piper/Flair in '92, the set up was great....everyone vs. Big Show from last year was fun too. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Rockers/ Orient Express '91 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? Austin's on SMackdown (I think) prior to the '02 Rumble where he talks about drinking lowering his center of gravity 7.) One of Hunters best matches IMO as Cactus does his best to make him look like a million bucks. 2.) Favorite Rumble match? 1992 Rumble. So unpredictable at the time with so many actual contenders for the championship. 2004 is a close second. 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? Mo in 1995. The son of a bitch lasted 2 seconds. That has to be a record, only matched by Warlords 1989 performance. 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty in 1994. Even in 1996 when both were faces, they recognized their past feuds. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho from 2001. Awesome match, with only one problem: too much slow climbing. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? Hmm... I gotta say Shawns from 1995. Not that it was good, but the sucker looked like it had the audio added in afterwards, as his mouth wasn't in sync with what he was saying. 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? 1999 Rumble PPV Period. Whoever booked the piece of crap needs a stern booting in the mouth and nose. Also the Undertakers death at 1994... God Damn was that bad. Memorable Moments Not Asked: Curt Hennigs return in 2002. Gotta love Mr. Perfect, bitches. He even slapped the gum while being double teaming by Austin & Hunter! Favorite Rumble match? -92 for the importance, tied with 04 because I was there 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? -Maven eliminating the Undertaker. I marked big time for that. 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? -Mr. Perfect vs. Ric Flair in 1993. Especially for Heenan's reaction 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? -1988: Jumping Bomb Angels defeat The Glamour Girls for the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship. Damn good Women's Match. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? -Tajiri's from 03. 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? -The fact that the Hurricane never has gotten a chance to last a good period of time in a Rumble match. Favorite Rumble match? 1992, followed by 2004, 1997, 1998, 1990, 2000 and 1989 in pretty much that order. 1995 and 1999 were easily the worst. I've never seen 2002. 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? I liked how Michaels tossed Bulldog in 95 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Definitely Cactus-Chainsaw Charlie from 98 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? toss up on Dudleyz v. Hardyz table match and Jericho/Benoit ladder. honorable mentions to Rockers/Orient Express and Hart Bros/Quebecers 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? don't remember a whole lot of em so I'll just say Rock 2000 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? The Undertaker/Yoko thing, the finish to Hart/Nash, the finish to Hart/Taker, the 1995 Rumble being only 30 minutes~!, any final four/two that COMPLETELY telegraphed the winner (2003 comes to mind). A: Savage-Roberts 92. Roberts is the smartest wrestler ever at in-ring storytelling. His attention to detail is amazing 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? A: Jericho-Benoit 01. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? A: The whole year of 1991. 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? A: How dissapointing the second half of the 2003 Rumble was after such a hot 1st Half.
