Highland 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 He should have known better, and by wearing that "costume" in a public place and by garnering such publicity he has made known his views and should be at the least publicly astrocised for them. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume that was sarcastic. No, I wasn't being sarcastic. Anyone that wears a Nazi uniform outside of a play or movie production should bloody well know the controversy it would cause. Thousands of his fellow countrymen died thanks to the Nazis and he should be publically humilated at the least for at best making a mockery of veterans and victims of World War II, and at worst proclaims his support of such a regime. I see no need why anyone should trip over themselves to make up excuses for his perfidity, and if the UK has Legion Halls, then he should be made to visit them in that uniform. Without any of his security detail with him.

Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted January 14, 2005 so by Highland's logic everybody that wears a Count Dracula outfit at a costume party drinks blood and sleeps in a coffin. Brilliant.

Guest sek69 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I wasn't offended as much as I was jaw-droppingly shocked to see someone who represents England sporting the uniform of the country who tried to flatten them. It'd be like seeing a Native American dressed up as a 1800s US Army soldier. Besides, it's a fucking NAZI uniform for fuck's sake. That should offend everyone with common sense and good taste a little bit. It its funny to see the next generation of royalty seemingly ending up like a wacky mismatched sitcom duo: William the comparatively straight-laced heir to the crown and his zany weed smoking, drinking, nazi-sporting little brother. Brilliant. No, it's not my logic, but obviously I am the only one applying common sense. Stop flamebaiting me. I'll need to bathe after this but Frigidsoul was 100% correct. You look and sound like an idiot. Halloween has transformed us all into unsavoury characters. I am both a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Freddie Kruger. Whatta mix! Highland 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I obviously missed the day when they declared that disagreeing with somebody and pointing out stupid logic became flame-baiting and trolling. Between you and Damaramu...seriously... You have not presented any logic whatsoever for your arguments, and have instead only flung insults towards me. You've accused me of not knowing the difference between reality and fiction, and for some reason believe that I would view someone dressed as a fictional character for Hallowe'en is really a bloodsucker in a dark cloak. I've already stated an exception of when I would consider it acceptable to wear a uniform of the enemy. Harry was neither part of a theatre troupe or a movie production. I see no reason to continue this rather one-sided debate with you either here or in HD, as I'll just continue to undermine your fallible logic in either forum. I jokingly quote Joseph Stalin, I am a Communist pig looking to undermise capitalism! and on and on I neither seek nor require your approval, Banky. Nowhere did I state that I equate someone wearing a Hallowe'en costume as being supportive of that role. Dracula is a fictional character, a Nazi soldier is not. I do not consider a Nazi uniform to be a Hallowe'en costume and frankly those that would are in a tiny minority. Edited January 14, 2005 by Highland

Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Dracula is a fictional character based upon a real person. In the original works Dracula just drained his victims of blood and turned them into mindless followers. The person it was based upon would soak his bread in the blood of his victims. What do I know though? I, like Banky, am just some "HD" person who can't hang with you cool kids.

Guest SideFXs Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Anyone else notice that William and Harry look nothing alike? But, the fuck up does look more like Charles. I think Harry is pissed, that William gets all the attention. This Nazi stunt is the result. I also believe this is just the beginning. Harry just might do the Royal family in. Especially if he feels like the blacksheep.

Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted January 14, 2005 Edwin obviously supports the rise to power of communism through those actions. Bottom line it was stupid of him to wear the costume because of his social status. It doesn't make him support Nazis or any of that garbage though. Had he dressed as a dead Nazi soldier who was killed by a British soldier then there would have been all sorts of people praising him.

Had he dressed as a dead Nazi soldier who was killed by a British soldier then there would have been all sorts of people praising him. Did someone beat you over the head until you lost every non-retarded thought in your brain? Desite all of your completely ridiculous Dracula analogies, Highland has one up on you, if for nothing else than the simple reason that the Nazi uniform - used as a joke in Harry's case or not - is still very much a vogue fashion to thousands of neo-Nazis, and violent fascist skinheads who still perpetrate hate crimes. Vehemently ridiculing this kid for his choice in wardrobe is more than appropriate, and relevant, given the rise in anti-Semitism that's been slowly engulfing Europe over the past decade or so. Sek has the best point - the uniform should, on some level, offend anyone who has anything remotely resembling good taste.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2005 I think the reason for the outrage is it's kind of appalling to see a guy who's in line for the throne, even if it's unlikely he'll get there, dressing up like one of the world's worst villains. Especially if that villain was a huge threat to the country he represents like Hitler was to the UK. However, since the royals are basically ineffective in British politics these days and they're never going back to true monarchy rule, it's not like it really matters in the long run or anything. No, but he is part of the family that is supposed to represent the UK, at least symbolically.
