The Czech Republic Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Edit: Also, I know this is often difficult to do, but what the hell did Bill Walton mean by saying that the Suns won't be needing a plane to go back to Sacramento as the game was fading out? As TSM's resident Bill Walton expert....shit, even I don't know what he was going for.
razazteca Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I want to see Amare flex now Fuckin Dumb Ass That was great. Amare did the push-ups but missed both free throws and then got dunked on by Duncan and Ginobili later in the game.

alfdogg Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 Back to the Jackson deal, this now makes Dallas New Jersey Philadelphia Golden State Portland Atlanta Cleveland Miami Sacramento Houston New Orleans Phoenix 12 teams that have owned the rights to Jim Jackson at one point or another.

My favorite line is still the decidedly prophetic "this is an intelligent game" right before the shove that started the brawl.

As TSM's resident Bill Walton expert....shit, even I don't know what he was going for. He said the Spurs won't need a plane to get to Sacramento (Spurs next game) It was an implied expression. "The victory was such a high" or "They are on cloud 9" take your pick., so he was just playing on that.

Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I assumed Bill simply thought the great Greek God Pan the goat creature would simply carry them out of pride for such a spectacular win. The fun part with Bill is that there's a 45% chance he did indeed mean something along those lines.
The Czech Republic Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Like many of America's cultural elite, Bill Walton worships Pan, the Goat God! Oh man. I love The Critic.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Duke Phillips really should be more prominent in America's collective mind's. I want to hang out with Bill Walton for a day. I bet he can't just do anything, he absolutely has to comment on it. "These are the most intelligent eggs I've seen since the great Larry Bird laced them up in the Garden"
The Electrifyer Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Bulls win vs. Detroit. Does beating the (World Champion) Pistons mean anything anymore?
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 well the Bulls got a huge front page splash in the Sun Times for beating the Hawks, so they probably get a fucking parade if they can beat the Pistons.
The Czech Republic Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Bulls have beaten them in Auburn Hills once already. And man did the Pistons come unglued in the 4th. Personals, technicals, oh what a mess
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 It may be time to start erecting statues of Scott Skiles throughout Chicago. Seriously, Curry and Chandler must be terrified of him to be playing this consistently well.
The Electrifyer Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 He'll get his statue once he brings a three-peat to Chicago. And several days after getting his first triple-double, Lebron does it again vs. Golden State.
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Bulls win vs. Detroit. Does beating the (World Champion) Pistons mean anything anymore? It's starting to make me wonder if the Pistons were really a championship-worthy team or just a team that was able to barely make it into the Finals against a team they jsut happened to match up perfectly with. Like, if the Pacers or Nets would have made the Finals instead, would we have seen a different outcome in the Lakers' fate or would they have still lost? Remember Detroit needed 7 games to beat both the Pacers and Nets,
Dangerous A Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Just got back from the Cavs-Warriors game. Let me just say it was an honor and privilege to watch LeBron drop his second triple double. He is the real deal and worth the price of admission.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 The Pistons were a championship worthy team. It doesn't matter if they just "barely" made it by the other teams they played, they still made it and they still destroyed the supposed best team in the west. This makes them championship worthy. And anyone who's seen them play this year will probably note that they just don't have near the intensity they had last year. I love the Bulls, but I'm not gonna pretend that the end of the year Pistons from 03-04 would have had any real trouble with the Bulls current squad. They would've completely shut them down and probably won by double figures tonight. The big problem is The Pistons team is a team that revolves around pure hustle and teamwork. They can't relax like the old Lakers' squads or the Spurs teams and rely on Kobe Bryant, Shaq and Tim Duncan's talents to carry them. If they're not playing 100% as a team and with maximum defensive intensity, then they will lose almost as much as they win.
The Electrifyer Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Seriously, last year we heard so much about the Pistons hard work and dedication on and off the court. This year, we've seen little of that. It's making me think these guys are getting lazy and letting the championship get to their heads. They're probably thinking now "Oh, we're the champs, we can turn it on whenever we want".
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I think that happens with a lot of championship-caliber teams. Witness the Lakers last year, for example.

alfdogg Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 Gotta love the consistency of the Pacers. This is our last six games Win vs Phoenix (32-10) Loss vs Orlando (22-17) Win @ Houston (22-19) Loss @ New Orleans (7-33) Win @ Miami (30-12) Loss vs Washington (24-15)
Precious Roy Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Remember Detroit needed 7 games to beat both the Pacers and Nets They beat Indiana in 6. There's no question about Detroit being championship caliber. Would Indy or NJ have beat LA? Probably not, but they didn't beat Detroit either, and that's why they play the games. Detroit owned LA in the Finals. It's a new season though, and Detroit is showing why it's so hard to repeat. And looking at their team, everything broke perfectly for them last year. Ben Wallace is a major difference maker on defense, but they don't have one truely dynamic superstar, and that hurts them now that everyone is gunning for them. Plus, I think the fight fucked with their heads in a really negative way due to it going down on their homecourt, while the Pacers seemed to have rallied around it. And the combination of the championship, olympics and brawl has definitely messed with Larry Brown, he's a pretty emotional, flighty guy as is and there's no way he's in a championship mindset right now.
alfdogg Posted January 24, 2005 Author Report Posted January 24, 2005 Spurs hold the Kings to 73 points AT Arco. Impressive.
The Czech Republic Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 The Spurs are the real deal, methinks. I can't see any lower-seed teams upsetting them in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Only Phoenix and Seattle can give them a run for their money.
Guest Vitamin X Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I can't wait to watch a 7 game Phoenix-San Antonio series after the awesome battle they had the other night.
Ripper Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 The suns traded away a 7'0 foot 19 year old, a 6'10 hustle player/rookie, and probably their most consistant shooter and best perimeter defender, AND a second round pick for a 35 year old two guard. ... I stand by my belief that Phoenix knows how to draftem, but they have NO idea how to trade. What in the ever loving fuck were they thinking? Now their "big men" are Jake Voskal(who is all of 6'9), Bo Outlaw(if you want to call him big...he is really a SF) and Stephen fucking Hunter (who has been playing well actually) to back up Amare. And in return they got....JIM FUCKING JACKSON. This had BETTER work out dammit.
The Electrifyer Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 After beating the Hawks, it pleasures me to say this: the Chicago Bulls are over 0.500!
