Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Circuit City's ad for the upcoming week is out and their 3-for-$30 deal is probably one of the best I've seen in a couple of years. Here's the list: Pirates of the Caribbean Johnson Family Vacation Forrest Gump Bridget Jone's Diary Old School PCS: Dave Chapelle Blue Collar Comedy Tour: Ride Again Last Samurai Cold Creek Manor My Baby's Daddy Gladiator Mean Girls Miracle Never Die Alone Saving Private Ryan Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie Kill Bill 1 Pulp Fiction Buzz Lightyear in Star Command Walking Tall Ransom Kill Bill 2 Cold Mountain Girl Next Door Out of Reach Alien Schindler's List Atlantis Secret Window Braveheart Granted KB V1 & 2 are both going to get SE treatments down the road, but there's no set date for that yet, so this is an excellent time for fans of the film who were on the fence about buying barebone releases to finally do so. Pulp Fiction is the two-disc CE that came out a couple of years, so that's an excellent price, as well. As you can see, there are a lot of titles that have come out in the past year on the list, which gives you an idea on how affordable DVDs are becoming, not to mention how quickly price drops occur now. Unless I can resist, I'll finally get both KB's, as well as Pulp Fiction, since the one I've got has a case that looks like hell. Moreover, I'm tempted to finally check out The Girl Next Door, so I'll have to talk my buddy into getting KB V2 and Pulp for himself. Anyway, it's a good list that I thought I'd post over here. Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Not a bad list. I just brought SPR, Pulp and Last Samurai recently. I'll likely pick up POTC, Braveheart and Schindler's List.
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Is it the new version of Bridget Jone's Diary (I wonder)?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Fuck and I just wasted a ton of cash on buying Anchorman, Harold & Kumar, and Garden State at Best Buy. Old School, Pulp Fiction, and Schindler's List would have been my picks off that list. Damn. The Dave Chapelle DVD is also awesome for those who haven't checked it out. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Yes. The PCS stands for Platinum Comedy Series, all of which that I've seen (Bruce Bruce and Cedric the Entertainer in particular) are hilarious, but Chapelle's was probably the best.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 I bought Chappelle's Platinum Comedy Series DVD the day it came out in the summer of 2003. It is amazing. It is his HBO special "Killing Them Softly".

Yeah, I heard that, too, but I've come to learn with DVDs that even stated release dates are tenative until you've got the damn things in stock. August is still quite a ways away, so I think I'll still get them, and then if the SE sounds good enough, I can always pass these ones on for a little bit of change on eBay. And the Chappelle DVD is definitely worth the purchase. Still, I wish they'd release his 1997 San Francisco special on DVD. That was basically his big break in the world of stand-up and features a lot of classic material that I think rivals his best stuff from Killing Them Softly, in terms of quality. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted January 22, 2005 You know, I knew it was the ghetto when the limo driver was driving and all I could see was gun store, liquor store, gun store, liquor store...
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted January 22, 2005 From what I've heard, there's still speculation regarding Kill Bill in August. Some people think it's when the Special Edition DVDs will be released, while others think it's when Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will be released in theaters. If I didn't already have them, I'd definitely pick up the current releases of Kill Bill. There is very little (if any) info on Special Edition versions. It might not be worth the double-dip (see Spider-Man DE, Eternal Sunshine CE, POTC "Lost Disc," Rambo Trilogy UE, etc). There's also the possibility that the SE versions will be different from the theatrical cut. The trade-off to waiting for the SE is that you'll be able to get your money's worth out of the current DVDs by the time the SE versions are released. Oh yeah, that was some good stuff. I like the material a bit better than KTS, myself. Course, you know, if Dave Chappelle actually did stand up as his Reggie Warrington character, I'd probably like that the best. I don't even like Nutty Professor, but I own it for that alone. The video... I couldn't bring myself to get the dvd.
Guest Sturgis Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Isn't there some Tarantino box set coming out? If so would it be new SE of his movies or what's out there now?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Isn't there some Tarantino box set coming out? If so would it be new SE of his movies or what's out there now? I'd imagine they'd be what's out there now. Aside from the Kill Bill series, all of his films have been given excellent DVD releases in the past. There were some rumblings about the Reservoir Dogs SE transfer a while back, but I doubt an upgrade in that would warrant yet another purchase. I can't imagine finding much reason for some people to buy a third version of either RD or Pulp, and the Jackie Brown release is great as it is. Oh yeah, that was some good stuff. I like the material a bit better than KTS, myself. Me, too. It's just that I've seen it so many times that some of his stuff from his San Fran special makes me laugh more now. It's still classic material, but it's tough to find everything as hilarious as you initially did when you've seen it dozens of times.
Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Seeing that this deal isn't available online, I am screwed since there isn't a Circuit City nearby. But if there was, I would pick up Kill Bill 1, Pulp Fiction and Pirates of the Carribean. Awesome deal, though.
