Swift Terror 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=544 The boys over at Dread Central had a chance to talk with a few stars from THE DEVIL'S REJECTS at the recent Chiller Theater, and they had some interesting things to say regarding Rob Zombies' current battle with those bitches at the MPAA. Bill Moseley and Sid Haig, who also stared in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, said that Zombie is currently working with the MPAA by cutting the films juicier sequences down (including a scene with Haig and porn star Ginger Lynn had together...), as this films' tone is a bit harder than CORPSES. The good news here is that there's going to be a director's cut released of the flick on DVD, and Moseley also mentioned that Lions Gate might even release a NC-17 version of the film for a limited theatrical release as well. This just goes to show that while something as horrorific as THE PASSION can get away with an R rating, there's never love for horror films, which are probably more slashed up by the MPAA than the victims on screen. Gotta love Lions Gate though, as their love for the genre really shows by not bitching out when it comes to releasing films NC-17. Look for the trimmed down, R-rated (but never PG-13!) THE DEVIL'S REJECTS in theaters this summer. Devil's Rejects trailer: http://www.thedevilsrejects.com/main.html Crap.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 You know what the weird thing is about Corpses? It gets better with each viewing. At least to me it does. Of course, the acting by Bill Mosely and Sherri Moon help a lot (as does Sherri's hotness). Can't wait for Rejects.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 I've only seen it once, but I still liked House of a Thousand Corpses. I mean, for a horror movie, I didn't see anything wrong with it. Lots of gore, some decent lines (RUN RABBIT, RUN!) and some boobs. What else do you need? I thought it was more disturbing then scary though; I mean, laughing at someone while you scalp them? Twisted. The new one looks interesting too...I'll have to see it when it comes out.
Guest Hass of Pain Report post Posted January 22, 2005 House of 1000 Corpses was easily one of the very worst movies that I have ever seen, but I respect Rob for trying to resurrect the 70's style horror film. The world needs another Toxic Avenger.

The world needs another Toxic Avenger. I have to agree that "House" was a goddamn awful horror film, and anyone who really enjoys it must have very, very low standards when it comes to horror flicks. And I suppose a big part of why I didn't like it (amongst many reasons) is because there is no real story (even for a horror flick, where plot is usually second-stage to gore & mayhem) and just constant brutality against human beings for no other reason than the characters doing the deeds get off on....well, constant brutality. However, I do like Rob, and I thought that he showed some promise as a director, so I'm cautiously optimistic that this film demonstrates "growth" for him as a writer / director. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 I have to agree that "House" was a goddamn awful horror film, and anyone who really enjoys it must have very, very low standards when it comes to horror flicks. I actually have somewhat high standards. Build tension, have good acting, and make me want to see it again. These may seem like low standards for your average movie, but for horror movies, these are pretty high (considering the unadulterated shit that is released direct-to-video each year). And I suppose a big part of why I didn't like it (amongst many reasons) is because there is no real story (even for a horror flick, where plot is usually second-stage to gore & mayhem) and just constant brutality against human beings for no other reason than the characters doing the deeds get off on....well, constant brutality. Which is the 70's horror style: tension through brutality. Pushing the envelope of what is and isn't disturbing. The plot isn't original at all, or even that captivating, but it's the characters of Otis and Baby that make the film worth watching. I don't think anybody that likes this movie could possibly say otherwise. And Hass, there's already another Toxie. It's called Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV. dubq 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Anything that keeps Zombie from releasing another shitty horror movie is ok by me. Seconded. Seriously. There are B-Movies on at 3am that have better plot than 1000 did... and Rob Zombie is an over-rated/hyped twit who knows NOTHING about making movies. Seriously, stick to the crappy nu-metal, Rob. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 Captain Spaulding growling out obsceneties from behind his clown makeup is Grade A entertainment to me. IMO, he was the best thing about that movie (which i didn't hate, but was definately disappointed by. Personally, i think "Cabin Fever" did a better job at being a "70's style Horror Film. Then again, that's just my opinion)
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 The movie would have been better had Sheri not being allowed to talk so much. Got her voice....it pushed me to kill. That and the firecracker out of the backside bullet to Shane from THE SHIELD.

godthedog 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 the best thing about 'house of 1,000 corpses' is the "tiny fucked a stump" feature on the dvd.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Nah. I'd say that the best thing, outside of Bill Mosely being the fucking man as Otis, would be the soundtrack.

Jingus 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Eh, it's at least kinda catchy, though that depends greatly on the individual song in question. I liked House a lot. And yeah, I know that the plot was generic, that all of the "heroes" were underwritten, that the killers were glamorized, that the plot twists made no sense, that the whole thing was edited like a music video, that all of it was stolen from other movies, that none of it was scary, and that Sheri Moon should never speak aloud again. But you know what? It still entertained me, for some weird reason.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 Rob's music serves its purpose. It's fun party rock with a slightly sinister aura around it. It's perfect for horror flicks, which is what Rob aims for, so, like I said, it serves its purpose. That, and despite the shitty quality of Rob's solo work, his live show is amazing.
