Guest PlatinumBoy Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I would like to add that according to this list and Rolling Stone, Alex Van Halen is better at his instrument than Eddie.
Henry Spencer Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Is Buddy Rich the Danzig of jazz?
The Czech Republic Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I dunno, is Danzig the greatest of all time? man I gotta listen to Channel One Suite now
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Is Buddy Rich the Danzig of jazz? Buddy Rich wouldn't get knocked the fuck out. Buddy Rich is arguably the greatest (jazz) drummer of all-time.
Red Baron Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I dunno, is Danzig the greatest of all time? man I gotta listen to Channel One Suite now You need me to buy a new keyboard now. And Banky, I'm surprised that you agreed with me on Menza not being mentioned. As for Nicko. He's not the best, though he's not horrible. I'll agree Clive was better, and it shows when Nicko can hardly keep up to most of his stuff.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I didn't agree with menza's exclusion. I don't even know who he is.
Red Baron Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I didn't agree with menza's exclusion. I don't even know who he is. drummer of Megadeth. Was on albums Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Blackmail the Universe.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I didn't agree with menza's exclusion. I don't even know who he is. drummer of Megadeth. Was on albums Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Blackmail the Universe. Oh. I never listened to any of that.
JST Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I'll go with the family and say a lot of these positions are questionnable. However, we all know who the true #1 is on this list.
The Czech Republic Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 I dunno, is Danzig the greatest of all time? man I gotta listen to Channel One Suite now You need me to buy a new keyboard now. I no get it
Red Baron Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 I dunno, is Danzig the greatest of all time? man I gotta listen to Channel One Suite now You need me to buy a new keyboard now. I no get it Danzig greatest of all time.
The Czech Republic Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Oh. Pshyeah right. In the spirit of big band, I recommend everyone a song called "Strawberry Soup" by the Don Ellis Orchestra. It's hard to find. If you cannot, hit me up on AIM and I will send its greatness to you.
Gary Floyd Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Dude, top 100 drummers without my favorite drummer of all time, Jaki Liezbiet of Can? That's it, Rolling Stone sucks. Well, that's a given, so....Top 100 lists suck...wait, thats also a given... (though I mostly enjoyed Pitchforks best 100 albums of the 70s, even though I normally hate Pitchfork media)
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 They mentioned metal drummers, and the lack of Nick Menza on this list is quite surprising. He actually isn't that great.
C Dubya 04 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 No Matt Abts and no Billy Martin make this list void of validity.
nl5xsk1 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 While I think he's a jackass as a person and a performer, I think that Fishman was robbed by being as low as 96. Trained in classic jazz but can play a variety of genres reasonably well - if not better than that. And, after the nauseating "what makes a drummer" debate, where was Avril?
Guest Kimaster1976 Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Mitch Mitchell (The Jimi Hendrix Experience should be top 5) Kenny Jones (The Small Faces / The Faces) should not only be on the list somewhere but should be top 20
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Yeah, that's slightly annoying that they mentioned some metal drummers, but no nods to the jazzed up death mutant-machines like Flo Mounier or Derek Roddy.
Guest krazykat72 Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Jimmy Chamberlin is criminally underrated at #60 -Paul Jacobi-
Red Baron Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 there are only a handful of good death metal drummers, and Flo Mournier is one of them.
Sonic Reducer Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Ringo Starr is not a better drummer than Dave Grohl. He couldn't play No One Knows or Aneurysm the way Dave did if his life depended on it. However, Dave could play any Beatles song. Anyone can play any Beatles song. Christ. What the fuck kind of list is this?
Sonic Reducer Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Jon Theodore's on the list, that's nice. He's too low though. Where the fuck is Buddy Rich? He's better than half of that list using just two limbs.
The Czech Republic Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Where the fuck is Buddy Rich? He's better than half of that list using just two limbs. We've been over this already, but I'm so glad you agree.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 this is a list on rock n'roll drummers. jazz drummers would need their own list.
Murmuring Beast Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Anyone can play any Beatles song. Christ. Shit. Go away and come back when you know something.
Murmuring Beast Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 this is a list on rock n'roll drummers. jazz drummers would need their own list. Correct.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Would an alphabetized list of the top 1000 drummers make you little shits shut up.
Sonic Reducer Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Anyone can play any Beatles song. Christ. Shit. Go away and come back when you know something. Okay. Give me a Beatles song to drum. I'll learn it (should I not know it already), go record it, and send it to you. Ringo was the perfect drummer for a band like the Beatles. Skill-wise however, he was pretty much an average drummer. His song "I'm the Greatest", however, is a hell of a song.
Skywarp! Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I guess we should be glad that Meg White didn't make the list.
Sonic Reducer Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I guess we should be glad that Meg White didn't make the list. I would have shot myself in the face.
