Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 So...tell me again how the Jets will lose this year's Superbowl? They are stacked in the 2ndary now and their Defense can make men cry. Yowza.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Injuries. Ty Law isn't exactly the most durable player. Chad Pennington, while good, seems to have a knack of being knocked out for a few games each year.

Yowza. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So wait, correct me if I'm wrong here, you are picking the Jets to beat Dallas in the Super Bowl?
Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 No, I stand by my AFC SB pick: the Chargers. The Jets look *really* good in my eyes to make it all the way if Ty Law is healthy enough to make an impact. That team has a nice balance of great defense/offense, which is enough to win championships. Pennington's health is the only drawback I see.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Has Pennington started practicing yet? They have a new offensive coordinator...and that shit takes time to get down.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Sass - You see a Dallas-San Diego Superbowl game??
Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 The last camp report from the Jets that I read said that he is participating in all of their practices and throwing at about 70% of his normal strength. Take it for what you will, to me percentages and practices mean nothing until the first game of the season. Then we can see how his shoulder is holding up. Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Sass - You see a Dallas-San Diego Superbowl game?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep. I saw it after Dallas' draft. The Tuna has had success with every sorry team he coached and turned them into a contender. My only concern with the Chargers right now is their LB corps. They seem to be a bit banged there up lately. Those guys really made a difference last year for the Chargers along with their revamped O-line.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 So... crack or smack?
Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Hater. Don't be blue just because your Seahawks will get swept by the Cardinals this season. At least they aren't the 49ers (although they could use their WR core).
MrRant 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 I'm leaning towards crack for the following reasons: 1. Clearly it's the home additives that are causing these hallucinations 2. It's all that Raider fans can afford.
Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Not even. I always thought Oakland was more well known for their chronic rather than the coca too. All of the Raiders fans I've ran into over the years were either drunk and/or stoned. I'm sure there were a few crackheads sprinkled throughout the arena here and there. They never bothered me anyways...aside from stealing stuff out of cars or the car itself. Grodd bless LA
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 My wife didn't believe what you said about the Chargers going to the Super Bowl (we live in San Diego so she sees first-hand what they are like). I told her it was plausible but she was like "HAHAHA No."
Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Have faith in MARTY~!~!~!...(to fuck it all up somehow) It's time for San Diego to finally win something.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 I think they can do it, but it would require a top-notch defense and an above average offense. They have neither.
Sass 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Hey, if the Chargers don't do it then my 2nd pick is the Raiders. The AFC West will be packed with talent this season. The Broncos are the only whipping boy team I see in the division (unless the Offense-eccentric Raiders and Chiefs both implode on defense). AFC West > and then some...> NFC West

Robert 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 The HOF game could actually be good, I wanna see if Grossman can work under a new OC. Williams will probably end up starting in the end, and I'm looking foward to how Saban does. Just a quick note: Quite Frankly With Stephen A. Smith is doing lower ratrings than ESPN's 2 eating contests. What QB's do you think are one the hotseat this year? EDIT: Ron Jawrowski is a fucking moron.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 Don't expect too much out of the game though. I'll be watching since its my Bears playing but I don't expect to see Grossman in for more than a few series, if even that. QBs on the hot seat: Kyle Boller (I think they expect him to do well this year or else), Joey Harrington (see the Garcia signing), but even more importantly there are teams with custodial quarterbacks like Trent Dilfer, Drew Bledsoe (sorry he's not a long term investment), Kurt Warner, etc.
Robert 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 I'm just watching it because wrestling has been bad, and my usual show isn't on till 10. Good way to kill time, and I want to see how Kyle Orton does. Some of the QB's I think are on the hotseat: Eli Manning: 1-6 as starter, and now has Burress as a threat. Need help from O-Line which nearly killed him. Nearly beat the Steelers, needs to play well. Also has Tiki Barber, and took a brutal beating against the Ravens. Aaron Brooks: Has a great amount of weapons at the helm. Deuce, Horn, and Stallworth. Has great legs, and needs to improve. That's probably the reason they drafted the QB in the 5th. David Carr: Has Davis, Gaffney, Andre Johnson, and also Corey Bradford at his helm. Needs to improve in alot of spots, but won't be benched because of no really good back-up. Other notables: Grossman, Plummer, and Feely.

I don't see David Carr going under any circumstances. The Texans really love him. I see Aaron Brooks surviving this year regardless the outcome also. Eli Manning? You're kidding, right? They will look at Peyton's rookie year (where he went 3-13) and hope Eli is going through the same thing. He's here to stay for a good 2-3 years, bank on it. Rex Grossman might be, but I see him staying at least another year. AJ Feely... well depends on if Miami gets the #1 pick, then yes he's gone and Leinart's in. Robert 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2005 I'm a huge Giants fan, and was happy with the Manning pick because Collins was getting annoying. I some nice expectations, but with Burress, Barber, Toomer, and Shockey with him I'd like to see a better year.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 Oh man, I forgot Jake the Snake. Yeah he's gone after this year if they don't win the Super Bowl. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think anybody's expecting the Broncos to even go to the Super Bowl, but it'd be nice to at least get a playoff win or two this year. Frankly, after picking up the Browns' front 4 in that "buy 1, get 3 free" sale, even just making the playoffs would be an accomplishment.

teke184 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2005 No matter how good Eli is, he won't be successful in New York until they sign an O-line to block for him. I just wish that the Giants were playing the Falcons this year so that Chad Lavolais could recreate one of the most interesting plays of LSU's 2003 National Championship season, when he threw an Ole Miss lineman onto Eli's foot, causing Eli to fall down and blow a critical fourth down. The funny thing was that no one could figure out why it happened at first, as it looked like Eli had just taken a prattfall onto his ass for no reason.
