Guest Coffey Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Outside of a couple songs like "Love Song," "Pictures of You," & "Friday I'm in Love" I haven't really heard anything. I think I'll like them though. I've liked what I've heard so far. So, any recommendations?
Brocklock Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Disintegration song and album That is all.
5_moves_of_doom Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Buy Disintegration and The Singles. That'll start you off nicely and prep you for more. I've really wanted to buy that new deluxe edition of their first album, but it's so damn expensive at Tower. I just don't know what to do.
Nighthawk Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Disintegration is what you'll hear most, but The Head On the Door is the better album.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Check out Pornography as well.
Modern Man's Hustle Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Definitely check out "Galore", too. It's their greatest hits from the 80's to the early 90's. Lots of good stuff on there.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 Pornography is pretty dire. Not in a bad way, but it's Joy Division-gloomy and maybe not the best starting point if the glossy "Pictures of You" and pretty much happy-smiley-9000 "Friday I'm In Love" are your reference points. I'd recommend the early singles collection Staring at the Sea to bypass some of the misteps of their earlier albums, and second Distintegration and The Head on the Door.
converge241 Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 if my memory serves me, i believe i am the biggest cure-head on the board so here's my 2 cents for albums the best that i would recomend are disintegration, pornography, head on the door, and kiss me based on hearing some of the singles first though you may want to try wish or wild mood swings for more things in that vein there are a few compilations out (greatest hits, single collections, live albums) that are a good sampling as well songs (tried to pick stuff from all over the gamut) cold club america anniversary disintegration 10:15 saturday night push fear of ghosts fascination street burn jupiter crash homesick form the edge of the deep green sea siamese twins A Forrest jumping someone else's train 39 sinking A japaneese dream m open kyoto song cut the kiss
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted January 26, 2005 Report Posted January 26, 2005 LABYRINTH is a cool Cure song.
Red Baron Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Fascination Street and Apart are awesome songs.
Guest Coffey Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I'll just get the discography....
B. Brian Brunzell Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 I've always been a huge fan of "The Lovecats" for some reason.
Guest DVD Spree Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 My two favourite and "anyone-who-listens-to-them-seems-to-like-them" Cure tracks are 'There Is No If' from Bloodflowers and 'Burn' from The Crow OST.
Zorin Industries Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Fire In Cairo and Funeral Party are my two favourites
Guest theanswer1824 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 once you turn yourself into a cure fan, hunt down the b-sides. i think they compiled all the b-sides in 2003 or 2004. the books they have on the cure are pretty cool. they even have pics of the one and only black cure member, some trumpet player. then get your hands on these videos/dvd: the cure in orange, picture show, live in paris, 10 imaginary years (they play a set on the dvd which is all acoustic), and mtv unplugged (tape traders usually have this).
converge241 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 id recomend Trilogy as the must-own Cure DVD The cure playing Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers in their respective entirety
5_moves_of_doom Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 once you turn yourself into a cure fan, hunt down the b-sides. i think they compiled all the b-sides in 2003 or 2004. the books they have on the cure are pretty cool. they even have pics of the one and only black cure member, some trumpet player. then get your hands on these videos/dvd: the cure in orange, picture show, live in paris, 10 imaginary years (they play a set on the dvd which is all acoustic), and mtv unplugged (tape traders usually have this). Isn't this guy trying to get STARTED on the Cure?
Gary Floyd Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Best cure albums would have to be "Pornography","Faith","Disintigration", and "Seventeen Seconds"
Guest Loss Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 I really like "Never Enough" and "Boys Don't Cry".
Guest Nobody Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 to 66sect6 above skinny puppy kicks ass! ok now on topic... man how can you guys pick favorite cure albums or songs... there's far too many to choose from in my opinion.... i mean... who am i to pick what you should listen to anyways? heh at best i've only heard about 1/3rd of their material total... i say just pick an album and go with it man.
