Vince should have made the announcement anyway. Tito Santana would have done it.

Goddamn skippy. And what fans would have realized Vince ordered it? Do you realize how stupid most wrestling fans are?

Great PPV, definetely worth the 35 bucks. Too much to even say as highlights. Paul London's elimination was just fucking sick. Daniel Puder getting his ass kicked by the vets was a funny spot. You gotta feel for the kid though, I've been watching wrestling for most of my life, and he was the first person i've ever heard cry out OWWW in pain like he did.

Rey was awesome, marked out like crazy for the small WGTT reunion. Liked the undercard a lot. I thought every match was solid and went like it should have (obviously neither JBL or HHH were gonna drop their belts tonight). Casket match was the kinda brawl it should have been, and Edge and HBK was very good as well. I won't give any star ratings since everyones opinion is different, but I will say again I thought it was worth the 35 bucks. :headbang:

Okay, here's where you leave it. The final line is too good.

Anyone else love Christian owning Torrie and Christy in his segment? And his rap on Cena? :D

I gotta admit that I loved that. "Tomko, give me a beat." "No." "Okay." Christian's rap, and the mention of the word "crunk" specifically, was great.

I think Jaxl's point is very easy to understand.  Sure the fans know that Vince told Lil' Naitch who told Finkel to tell the fans to restart the match.  Very simple to understand.

I knew I wasn't alone, it just makes more sense.

Perhaps the fans that heard Finkel go "By orders of VINCE MCMAHON, The match must restart"?

Probably when Finkel said "By order of the chairman Mr Mcmahon, he has ordered that this match must be restarted"

Now shut up......This argument is over

Im already trying to think of the other Movie Spoofs they do leading to Mania.

The Summer Slam spoof of the Olympic games were great...

I'm suprised more people haven't mentioned the boos and "Randy sucks" chants that Orton was getting for most of the match, a la Steiner two years ago against the same opponent.

If this is the first Rumble without Patterson booking, at least it lays to rest those ideas that only Patterson knew how to book an exciting Rumble. I wouldn't say it was the best Rumble ever though, the final 5 mins or so let it down.

You mean when Finkel said "The owner of THE CHAIRMAN" SAYS.............."

It was all fucked up tonight.

He said

"Per order of the chairman, Mr. Mcmahon"

Anyway, anyone else think Randy Orton got severely fucked up tonight?

Cena technically won the Rumble (if instant replay was allowed), but there was no way that Vince was going to book a Smackdown guy that strong going into Wrestlemania, thus the on-the-fly booking to make Batista look better than 29 guys. It seems that they are giving Triple H-Batista the whole nine yards. , which I don't get because the "feud" thus far had been great both without the title and without the need for Batista to win the Rumble. Now it's starting to be overkill, and that's usually when "cutting off at the knees" starts.

Patterson was a consultant on the rumble this year.

The last two rumbles were largely written by Patterson and Shane McMahon. Im sure it was the case again tonight.

I'm not exactly sure what was up with Orton tonight but he looked like he got the shit beat out of him. I think we can safely rule him OUT of the title scene at this point, he got decisively squashed.

I dunno if it was mentioned in the thread but I did a Zapruder type slo mo on the final seconds and I think Batista's legs hit before Cena. Don't be shocked if Teddy Long uses this to give Cena the WWE title match at WM. In fact, it's likely.

Why is everyone making a big deal out of the Vince thing? I was so wrapped up in the intensity of the Rumble and who was going to win that I could have cared less about Vince being hurt or not getting the mic himself. If anything I PREFER Finkel's professional announcement rather than a goofy Vince rant.

This show was awesome tonight.

It was so obvious that Cena won since he landed ON batista's back. Hence why they didn't even replay it.

I dont htink it was supposed to be that much of a squash, but Orton looked completely lost after his concussion or whatever. The guy was totally out of it. It was kind of scary

I think he's talking about this year, and I see his point.

I kinda see it now too....my bad

Sorry, I did mean this year. But you can make the same case for last year, too. Benoit was a Smackdown guy, but where was he the night after the Rumble? On Raw. It's become very obvious that Raw is the higer priority, where I thought the two brands were supposed to be equal enough to have seperate PPVs. What I'm getting at is that Cena or Batista winning shouldn't have mattered, but it mattered enough to WWE (and by extention the marks) that Batista win that McMahon comes and literally hurts himself trying to rebook the match. Finkel messed up because he didn't know what to say. When does Finkel ever mess up?

Did anyone notice Scotty 2 Hotty and Shawn Michaels were never actually eliminated? Scotty never even made it to the ring. I know they are technically "knocked out of the match" because they are unable to continue, but that would have been a perfect spot to slide a surprise guy in there like last year when they inserted Foley in for Test.

Fun fact: John Cena (as The Prototype) defeated Dave Batista (as Leviathan) win his first OVW World Heavyweight Title

I looked back in the thread and didn't see this brought up, so if I missed it I apologize and a mod can just delete it or something.

Call me crazy but I'm doubting that Batista hitting first was the real fuck up in the Rumble finish. I think it was that Batista wasn't supposed to hit the floor at all.

I could be wrong, this is just a theory, but for whatever it's worth my friends and I all ended up agreeing after going back and watching it again. Anyways, point number one is that Batista kinda took an extremely unsafe spill, especially having Cena on top of him like that. He basically backflipped over, which made it seem to me like it was the weight of Cena that caused him to fall. I think maybe Cena was supposed to fall out of the powerbomb and back into the ring on his feet, and maybe attempt another F-U before getting the spinebuster and thrown out like he did in the 2nd finish.

A few things I have to support this is that JR and Tazz sounded legitimately confused by the original end, and if you watch Batista he completely no-sold his bump and kinda had a "what the fuck" look on his face. Also, when Vince came out, it seemed rushed. It didn't really build up that much before he came out, and they didn't play his music. He also looked legitimately pissed off which is a sign that the finish may have went completely wrong, and that may also have led to him hitting his knee. If this was booked, I think Vince would have come out and maybe been calm about it and maybe award the #1 contenderships to both competitors rather than restarting the match.

I mean, either way the whole thing was screwy, but just a thought...

Very enjoyable PPV. However....what I thought they were going to do, and what i think they should have done, was to have Vince come out and make an on the fly decision as to whether Cena or Batista was going over. It was tough to say going in to the Rumble who was more over, but it became obvious that Cena was getting MUCH bigger pops than Batista when the refs were raising Cena's/Batista's arms in victory. Vince should have made the call there to put Cena over IMO.
