Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 Took this off of 411. All the results for the next two episodes of Impact! Credit: Justin Robertson & PWTorch.com Tonight's crowd was about the average for most regular tapings. It may not have been one of the most crowded tapings but it definitely had one of the hottest crowds I've seen outside of the pay-per-views. IMPACT TAPING for Feb. 4 Show opens with the usual TNA opening video and then a recap of the Hardy and Abyss feud. Then they played an audio bit of fireworks. No actual pyro, just the sound of fireworks. I'm not kidding. I don't know if this was one of their infamous cost saving measures or someone just didn't set up the fireworks. Either way, it was like that for both tapings. (1) Petey Williams beat Shark Boy. Solid match that got the crowd excited and into the action. Petey Williams got the win with the Canadian Destroyer. I don't know if it was just because he was the first guy out or what, but Shark boy was one of the most popular wrestlers tonight. There was a very loud Shark Boy chant that lasted through almost the entire match. A promo aired from the back with Raven and Dustin Rhodes. Raven basically said that he is going to beat Rhodes at Against All Odds. (2) A.J. Styles beat Brad Quartermain. Another solid match with some good work by Styles. Styles got the win with the Styles Clash. It was a little slower paced than what you would expect from Styles but solid nonetheless. After the match Styles grabbed a mic and told Christopher Daniels, who had been at ringside doing commentary, should get in the ring and fight him. Daniels responded by saying that since Styles had been ducking him his entire career, then Styles would have to wait until the PPV just like Daniels has had to wait all these years. A nice intense promo from both guys. A promo aired from the back in Dusty Rhodes' pickup office. He said that Traci and Trinity's new teams would compete on the pre-show before the Pay Per View. (3) Jeff Hardy beat David Young. Hardy got the win with a swanton bomb. Another good back and forth match. Hardy is by no means anything special in the ring but i do get the sense that he is improving. After the match Abyss came out and attacked Hardy. They then brawled over the guardrails and into the back. A promo from the back aired with the 3 Live Kru and Kazarian and Michael Shane. They said that David Young is finally going to end his losing streak next week when he beats Jeff Hammond. Michael Shane said that NASCAR stands for non athletic sport centered around rednecks. I will say that i have never heard that one before. Good promo to set up their match for the next tapings. (4) Abyss beat Lex Lovett. Abyss was already worked up because of the brawl with Hardy so he got the win with the Black Hole Slam within 30 seconds. Just a squash match to more setup for the Hardy / Abyss feud. After the match Abyss set up a table and was about to put Lovett through it when Hardy made the save. Abyss was about to put Hardy through the table until Hardy reversed it into a DDT through the table. Excellent buildup for their match at Against All Odds. Promo in the back where Shane Douglas interviews Kevin Nash who is getting a massage. Jarrett breaks in and tries to take out Nash with a chair but Nash moves out of the way. Ok segment but i can't say that they've done a great job with the buildup for this match. (5) Monty Brown and DDP beat The Naturals. Good match that saw Monty Brown get the win with one of the best pounces that I have ever seen him give. A solid main event match. IMPACT TAPING for Feb. 11 Once again the show opens with the well produced intro video and just audio of fireworks exploding. They then cut to Dusty Rhodes in the back who then adds a stipulation the Heavyweight title match at Against All Odds. The stipulation is that if Jarrett uses a guitar not only will he be disqualified but he will lose his title as well. (1) Johnny Devine beat Sonny Siaki. Good back and forth match although with quite a bit of interference by the rest of Team Canada. Devine got the win with a rollup while using the ropes for leverage. A promo aired from the back with Monty Brown. All he basically said was that he and Page would beat Hall and Rude at Against All Odds. (2) DDP beat Chris Candido. Another solid back and forth match that saw DDP get the win with a Diamond Cutter off the top rope. After the match Team Canada came out and said that Bobby Rude and Scott Hall would have no problem beating Page and Monty Brown at the PPV. They then started walking towards the ring but Monty Brown ran out and made the save. Good segment to promote their match next Sunday. (3) Jeff Hammond beat David Young. Hammond looked pretty good in the ring. He didn't exactly do a lot but what he did do looked pretty good, including a good looking spear. Hammond got the pin after BG James gave young a pumphandle slam, then Hammond pulled off a move a thousand times more ridiculous than the People's Elbow ever thought of being. He pretended to drive around in a circle and then dropped and elbow on Young. AJ Styles came out to do commentary but before he could even start Christopher Daniels came out to stop him. Daniels then gave Styles a hard slap which caused Styles to fly across the desk and the two brawled until it was broken up by security. An intense and excellent segment. (4) Primetime won an X-Division shootout between himself, Shark boy and Chris Sabin. Really good X-Division match. Primetime stole the win after Shark Boy hit his finisher and then Primetime shoved him out of the ring and covered Sabin. (5) Kazarian, Shane and Raven beat Dustin Rhodes, and America's Most Wanted. Good main event match. Notes: Both shows tonight were really well done with some excellent buildup for two of the matches at Against All Odds. Styles and Daniels match has had some excellent buildup and I'm sure these two won't disappoint in the ring either come next Sunday. Another feud that has also been really well done his the Hardy vs. Abyss feud. They really seem to hate each other and there is some really good intensity between the two. One match that has hardly received any buildup is the Heavyweight Title match between Jarrett and Nash. Between both shows there was only one segment hyping their match. Like I said above, tonight's crowd might not have been the biggest but they were one of the loudest. They were hot for nearly every match except for the last match of the second show. Chants were going nonstop throughout the night. Overall I would have to say that the first show was a little better than the second but they were both really good and you should check them out if you get a chance. I will watch just to see Jeff Hammond do that.

Guest Frank_Nabbit Report post Posted February 10, 2005 A promo aired from the back with Raven and Dustin Rhodes. Raven basically said that he is going to beat Rhodes at Against All Odds. --- This was hilarious as Raven gave another double speak epic Ravenesque interview and Dustin replied with something along the lines of: "Well Squishy Wishy Wag Wo...I'm gonna kick your BUTT"
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 Poor David Young. On the one hand, I'm glad he's drawing a paycheck, but on the other, well, just look at them match results.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 They then cut to Dusty Rhodes in the back who then adds a stipulation the Heavyweight title match at Against All Odds. The stipulation is that if Jarrett uses a guitar not only will he be disqualified but he will lose his title as well. Someone else will use the guitar, Jarrett pins, 1-2-3. Next week, Jarrett talks about how much of a genius he is because he outsmarted Rhodes.

RedJed 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 I'm sure I'm not in the minority by saying Impact in the past few months has been very underwhelming in what they put out there to build to the ppvs in general. The week with Daniels-Styles I thought was well booked but generally, I think they need to do a much better job with not just the ppv buildup but the character development and in general, establishing more meaningful feuds. I will say though that the Hardy-Abyss stuff has been surprisingly good for building that match, as is Daniels-Styles. Or at least better than they usually do, so maybe they realize the faults of the past regarding this issue. The Nash-Jarrett buildup has been pure shit but I didnt expect anything less for just a shit match either I guess. With that said, still really looking forward to the ppv this Sunday to see if they can hit 3rd in a row home run on these shows.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2005 You mean the one from Halloween Havoc '98? Or Summerslam '94? I'm 100% positive that the cage match at SS '94 was Bret/Owen for the title, and not Hall/Nash.
