Of course, there is a fine line between showing a competitive side and showing utter contempt for a teammate. The latter may be true of Marbury and Thomas, who nearly came to blows in the locker room following last Friday's win over Cleveland, a source told the Daily News. The problem started with a nasty exchange on the bench between the point guard and power forward that was caught on tape by MSG Network. According to SLAM magazine's Web site, Thomas expressed his displeasure with Marbury about a certain play. Marbury reportedly responded by shouting a profanity at his teammate. Thomas cursed back at Marbury before saying, "Everyone in this organization is afraid of you, but I'm not, and I will beat your (BUTT)." When asked about SLAM's report, Thomas admitted to reading the Web site but refused to comment. Another Knick said that the transcript "was pretty accurate." The argument continued in the locker room, with Thomas challenging Marbury to a fight. It is no secret that Marbury and Thomas are not the best of friends, but it has not stopped them from playing well together. And it is not uncommon for two teammates to argue in the heat of battle. As Marbury said yesterday about his teammates in general, "If we're not (frustrated) then something is wrong. We should be mad and disappointed with the way things are going." However, Thomas' accusation about the organization being "afraid" of Marbury speaks to a larger problem. Is Thomas alone in his view of Marbury or do other teammates resent the fact that team president Isiah Thomas may or may not cater to the team's best player? Perhaps Kurt Thomas' discontent with Marbury is the reason that Thomas has been the subject of trade rumors for the past year and why there is a good chance that, as one of the few Knicks with value, he will be traded before next season.
alfdogg Posted February 6, 2005 Author Report Posted February 6, 2005 Also, this is technically last week, but the Pacers have actually compiled a winning streak with a win in Atlanta, while Detroit and Chicago boh lost. I know the Bulls are doing good lately, but it's still a bit embarassing to have to watch their progress in regards to our position in the East. Not that it matters, since we're fucked in the playoffs against pretty much any team we draw without Artest, so the best thing that can happen to us really is to hope for a good draw in the lottery.

That is gonna be fun. (unless it turns out to be another 30 point ass whipping like it was in their preseason game)

The Supersonics are playing great basketball right now...but so are Peja and Webber. Denver @ Cleveland? Too bad no one cares about Carmello anymore. It could've been built at LeBron/Mello again. Dallas @ Sacramento will probably be the game of the week. At least offensively. I'm getting ready to watch the Lakers/Rockets right now. Is Kobe back yet?

He, and the entire team for that matter, have been playing much better under Karl. I'm embarrassed that I thought Coop could turn them around but I wouldn't have passed up hiring Karl either, he's a hell of a coach and a perfect fit with the talent Denver has Karl seems to have lit a fire under Nene's ass especially, he's been balling lately

Odom has been the only one contributing to the team, Butler's been a bit of a disappointment while Shaq is working his ass off here in Miami. And the Rudy T. hire was iffy considering not only the health problems, but also that Rudy had been away from the game as well for a long time, bringing in a new head coach on a team that had zero chemistry, and is still in search of an identity, especially without Bryant.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Couple of big wins by Houston with close call against Minnesota and the win agains tthe Lakers today, although their biggest problem was on full display. McGrady falls in love with long jumpers when they need drives to the basket and Yao just isn't physical enough inside, all of his post ups are gonna end with fade aways. Sura looked great though. At this point, it looks like Minnesota is the odd team out in the west. Houston is peeking, Memphis is back to where they were last year and the Lakers are respectable even without Bryant.

Thats ridiculous. Thomas has been the subject of trade rumors for like 5 years now. Makes you wonder why the organization is so antsy to get rid of a guy putting up good numbers...Maybe because he threatens to beat a teammates ass for taking a bad shot when he takes about 40 a game.

Thus any Knick player would have an advantage over any other player.

We just lost to the Atlanta Hawks 114-108, letting them score a season-high 68 points in the first half, and at one point facing a 29-point deficit.
