Who Else Deserves A 2-Disc DVD Set?

Recommended Posts

When was the last HHH DVD?

I believe that would be the small "That Damn Good" dvd in early 2001 which actually was a collector's item as it was exclusive to one store (I want to say Best Buy or Suncoast, but im not certain) and there wasn't even a promotion for it.

I say by 2006, We'll have a real comprehensive "The Ultimate Collection of "The Game" Triple H" 3 disc set.

If that's the one that was all matches and included the WM X8 main event, it came out some time in the middle of 2002, around the same time as "Triple H: The Game" (which people only bought for the Flair/Steamboat match).

Bret, Angle, and Jericho all need DVDs, pronto.

Blurriness of the old logo is not a big issue. I wish they would just find a way to blacken the turnbuckles completely, but editing visuals is not the issue. The tough part is: How many of the matches you want to produce mention "WWF" by the commentators? I watched Austin-Rock from WrestleMania X-Seven not too long ago, and completely lost count how many times JR and Heyman said "WWF Champion" or "WWF Championship" or any other mention of "WWF".

I'm not exactly sure on the official law on this. I think they may be allowed to keep in "WWF" at times as long as its clear that its in a wrestling context. I've got the new UK-only Tagged Classics In Your House set and at the start of IYH 2 Vince says something about "all the WWF superstars being here" and it's not cut. I'm not sure if its allowed because he's saying it in the context of them being wrestlers rather than just calling the company WWF - in which case, somehting like "WWF Champion" would probably be ok to leave in.

Maybe there are just different agreements between the WWE and WWF for different countries and thats why these sets are only released here?

Anyone know what the official ruling actually is?

A WWF/WWE All Time Greatest Tag team Matches..

first disc is the bio on the best Tag teams from all the promotions that have been Absorbed into the Borg like WWE Collective...

Second disc is the best Matches from each named Tag team..

Only question...

Out of the NWA, AWA, WCCW, WWF, WCW, ECW which tag teams would you put in?

I don't know the full ruling, either, but you pretty well covered it. Those in the UK are allowed "WWF" in their Tagged Classics Edition DVDs. Those of us here in North America are eliminated any mention of the initials "WWF".

A couple examples (as far as eliminating mention of "WWF"):

- On the Trish DVD, they showed her debut back in 2000, with Michael Cole saying something along the lines of "We've seen previews of this young woman on ___.com earlier this week..."

- On other DVDs where there was a WWF Championship match, you'd hear JR saying stuff like "The Rock is the reigning ___ Champion."

That's what I mean with the editing issues. If there's too many of those to do, it almost makes reproducing a match not worth it. It makes blurring logos up a walk in the park.

I'd go with the Rock N' Roll Express, Midnight Express, the Bulldogs, some Steiners, various Horsemen combos, LOD, Harts, Dudleys, etc. Who else would go on said DVD?

Regardless of their history with or without Vince, doing a Dead Wrestlers DVD with only wrestlers who made their name in WWE is insensitive and short-sighted. We're in a monopoly now, and Vince is responsible for paying respects to ALL of the wrestlers of yesteryear who pass away, not just the ones that worked for him and that he liked. He's said as much.

So, if a disk like that is truly to be made, not including guys like Wahoo McDaniel or Lou Thesz would be offensive. If Sting dropped dead tomorrow, I'd expect the same respect for him, wouldn't you?

Does Vinve own any Thesz footage?

- The 1987 old timers Battle Royal (Was this taped?)

- His appearences at Wrestle War 89 and Slamborees

- What else?

Vince owns everything that ever happened in the US including backyard matches and underground donkey shows.

But I'd buy a Thesz 2 or 3 disc set

***Only person who sees the outcry from people who will say Vince is trying to profit off dead wrestlers with a DVD****** ;)

BTW, some tagged stuff here in Toronto doesn't have the wwf initials censored such as the History of WM I-IX. I mean it has such factual anectodes like UW defending the wwf title against Randy Savage at WM 7. B-)

about the editing wwf thingy. on the foley dvd, during the cactus vs hhh rumble 2000 match, the eiditng guys apparantly forgot to censor wwf a couple of times. Jr gets away with "hes dragging the wwf champion away" but other points during the match the mention is edited like the begin (this streetfight for the (wwf championship) is underway and when cactus attacks after the match this war (for the wwf title) is not over. Its only slightly annoying (my fav is on an easter egg on disc 2 of mankinds cef boyardee commercial, the annoucer says something about the bggest beast known to man, Mankind (of the wwf) but he gets cut off at mankind and it sounds funny cuz he voice was going up in tone and got got cut off

I wonder, do they really have to blur the logo too, I mean I can see the wwf talk, but why the scratch logo only? This leads more credence to my belief that the only reason the other WWF sued again was that the World Wrestling Federation became huge back in 98/99, thus they are mad at the scratch logo (and besides the old block wwf logo looks more like an f than the scratch one) But I guess the reason is that they sued at the time they were using that logo. Its worse that they even blur the shirts of fans in the audience

Screw The Pandas

Get the F back in

(someone please make this sign and take it to a WWE show)

I don't mean the old block WWF logos. I mean when announcers say "WWF". The only logo that needs to be blurred is the scratch WWF logo from the Attitude era.

You have to include the East-West Connection vs High Flyers from the glory years of the AWA. Ventura gave great promos, and the crowd heat was off the charts when those two teams met.

what exactly would happen if they didnt blur the logo? will they get immediatley sued again will they have to pay royalties? whats the deal? doesn anyone know the full ramifications of the lawsuit settlement.

and what exactly is the new WWF trying to hide? do they think that maybe if logos are blurred wed all forget the WWE company used to be called WWF?

stupid, stupid stuff. especially considering how the block letter features the F more prominently imo

i have been thinking about what DVDs WWE could produce and my idea was similar to the original in the thread but rather than sticking to dead guys only I was thinking: "From the Vault: Legend Series"

If the guys are dead give part of the proceeds to their families or a charity in their name. I think Owen would be the only one that would be unwelcomed by his family (Martha).

DVDs I'd buy:

Hennig

Rude

Bret

LOD

Bulldog/British Bulldogs

Sting

Vader

Four Horsemen

Savage

Steamboat

Jake Roberts

Steiner Brothers

Harley Race

Goldberg

Taz(z)

Raven

Andre

Pillman

Dibiase
