What is it with these fucking rich people shows?

Recommended Posts

Ok what is it with this obsession MTV has with putting on shows starring rich pieces of shit?

Rich Girls(which thank god isn't on anymore) always pissed me off.

I don't understand Cribs. I don't want to see celebrities flaunt their extravagant lifestyle to me.

The Osbournes which is nothing but spoiled annoying kids.

And then the worst offender of all is My Super Sweet 16.

I dunno. I'm old fashioned. I'm one of those people that doesn't think kids should drink, smoke, party, and do drugs until college. I know it isn't that way anymore but it's just how I feel about it.

Well I turn on this show and you have these spoiled brats running around crying about how their party isn't the greatest then they throw some huge ass thing with alcohol and all kinds of shit and they're just turning 16!

And not to mention that they are spoiled as hell and you can tell they think everything should be just given to them!

That's what used to piss me off about rich girls.

But you know maybe you can say I'm a little jealous. I mean it is irritating that I'm over here busting my ass in college and working an overnight security job just to get by and they're given anything but still if I was filthy stinking rich I definitely would not act like that. Hell I'd probably be one of the most charitable people around for the simple fact that I hate gigantic houses and I'd probably not live a lifestyle like that.

So I mean what is the obsession with watching rich spoiled people act like assholes? I just don't get it. And it seems to center around MTV more than anything.

If you were rich NOW, you'd prolly be charitable and just keep enough around so you could live securely and not have to work that much again.

But if you were BORN rich, you'd be, most likely, a spoiled brat. It's a stereotype, yes, but it's one because it's true in many cases.

I know what you're saying.

I took to trip down to UT last weekend, and while we were sitting around in some girls' apartment, "my sweet 16" or whatever the fuck it is came on. There was this one girl with a party..so some poseur punk rawk kids decided to streak...in their boxers. Buncha pussies these kids are.

Rich Girls made me laugh at least by how stupid those girls were. I mean, not being able to read a road map is prety fucking funny...just seeing how they knew nothing that was essential to everyday life.

MTV is just unwatchable programing.

It's one thing to show stuff other than music videos or concerts, but almost all of their shows now have nothing at all to do with music.

Maybe its me but I look at those shows as motivation so I can say "Thats what I want to be like in 5-10-15 years". Damon Dash said it best, but not in these words

A man who always talks about what another man has and what he never will have and spitting all of that negative energy around, wont ever have anything.

These shows aren't about people that worked for everything they have and built an empire out of nothing.

They're about the kids of those people that haven't done a god damn thing but have all of their money given to them.

That's the difference.

Sadly, MTV just gives people what they want to see. They're catering to a population that reads papers and watch television just to see what these A-Z level celebs do. Thing is, people's fascination with stars has been around forever. Only thing is, in this day and age, it's everywhere, whereas back when television first came about, you only had shows like Ed Sullivan to get your celebrity fix.

I know they havent worked for anything and I could care less if they did. Maybe its because I would rather have things handed to me than work for me, but that doesnt mean Im not willing to work for it. So I look at P.Diddy's life on Cribs and say "Thats how I want to live" and be able to give my daughters a super sweet 16.

But you have to think about, if you had a child and you made 350,000 dollars a year, wouldnt you spoil them? I mean, how couldnt you. But, I get your arguement, I just dont know if you are bitter with them having it good or if you just want good TV.

Ya know, I think these shows are at least 50% make believe anyway. They almost seem more about clever product placement, with the cars, the shoes, and the cell phone brands, then about the actual people. These are the types of shows that give your common everyday slob, the illusion that they can be rich one day as well, and that the first step should be buying that NOKIA cell phone, or those GUCCI hand bags, or that FORD SUV. It is such horseshit, all they are doing is advertising consumerism disguised as drama. I am sure in about five years some study or expose will come out where all these people from these shows talk about how half the stuff wasn't even theirs, and was just placed in camera shots for advertising. I mean come on, posters of Ashlee Simpson and Justin Timberlake in an 18 year old GUY's room? Half the scenes don't even make logical sense.

I want good TV and I don't like the shitty ass attitudes most of these people have. It drives me crazy. They're the kind of people that buy friends b/c they surround themselves with shallow losers.

If I was filthy stinking rich I would probably give my kids money. But I'd also say "You want me to help you? You get A's in school and you get a fucking job. Yeah I have plenty of money to where you don't have to work but I want you to know what it is to work so get your ass a job." And yeah I'd give them money. But they wouldn't have credit cards with no limit and I'd probably make them buy most of their fun stuff with what they earn in their job. I'd buy them clothes, food, a car, pay for school and whatnot but if they wanted an X-Box or shit like that they'd have to go out and buy it with money they earned.

What about The Simple Life?

I hate Paris Hilton.

All the above just reinforces why I like Viva La Bam so much. Margera got rich by doing goofy & dangerous shit on-camera. So what does he do with all the money? Film himself doing even goofier & more dangerous shit. I love it.

Yeah, but there's not a scriptwriter alive who's talented enough to write all Don Vito's incomprehensible lines. He's the reason the show succeeded.

Dama, stop being jealous...hater...

Like I said if they had a show about the rich people that worked hard to get what they have. Like about the father or mother of some of these kids I'd be interested. Because there's a success story. I love success stories. You have this guy who came from humble beginnings and managed to build himself an empire. Be it through hard work or dirty back room negotiations. He still did it. He still made himself. That kind of stuff is cool. Not spoiled kids who are having it handed to them.

Only part of the original post I disagreed with. Fuck the rich bastards. Hell I come from an upper class (not quite rich though) family, and I've had to work for everything I have. Most of the people that I went to school with were rich fucks who's parents spoiled the hell out of them. Made me glad my parents came from a poor background and raised me the way they did.

I dunno if I'd go that far Kotz. But I mean some shows like Room Raiders and then some of the egotistical commercials they put on make make me wonder who the hell thinks this bullshit up.

It's funny to watch shows about yuppies whine because they don't get they want.

My friend Diana said she hung out with one of the girls from Rich Girls, but I think she is fibing.

I feel torn. On one hand I hate these shows and all the shallowness they stand for, but on the other hand I keep seeing the commercial for Gastineau Girls on E! and I can't help wanting to fuck the daughter silly.

I was talking with the opinion editor of the newspaper I work for and he had something to say about these shows. He said the irritating thing is that teenagers watch these shows on MTV and they think this is how things should be for them and how they should behave.

So you get girls asking for fucking expensive dresses and then demanding that they have these huge extravagant parties with tons of alcohol and sex and other such debauchery when they're only 15 or 16. It's absurd. It spoils kids that aren't spoiled! They think that they are entitled to this bullshit to!

So let me get this straight: We have 16 year olds, having sex and drinking on camera and said camera is broadcasting this all over the world? How the fuck is allowed on TV?

They make all of the decisions consciously. But not because they're stupid.
