that makes everyone happy. See that way, once you make it through Family Guy, you have the option on whether you're up for another half hour of a cartoon where everyone has the same guy doing the voices and scrotums for chins.

You could look at it that way, or you could think of it as that Fox is trying to take advantage of viewers antsy for Family Guy to start by giving them AD as an appetizer, so to speak.

I AM SO PISSED OFF.

 

Arrested Development is the greatest television show I have ever seen, and that is no exaggeration. It's not even the four episode loss that is the issue here, the issue is that an outright cancellation of a show of such great magnitude is very, very possible. And that's something that would kill me. On one hand, Fox is a business and they gave a chance to a show that no other network would likely give--it is the fault of the moronic masses for not catching on. However, it's a show with such a great cult following and critical acclaim, and as long as the ratings are just decent, which they have been, there is no reason to cancel it in favor of what will surely be several shitty Fox shows. Yeah, yeah, I know it hasn't been cancelled, but sadly, I see the writing on the wall.

 

Note: I wrote this strongly worded post using nothing but natural light.

I'll be upset if they cancel the show but FOX has done everything they could- no one watches it. After a while they have to get rid of it

The 7:00 spot on Sunday Nights is just a death knell for shows on Fox, basically. Even without the NFL season pre-empting it. Fox is looking for American Dad to succeed at this time, so they definitely won't put that in the 7 pm timeslot. Especially since it's a brand new show and they want to build some momentum behind it. They really don't care so much about Malcolm and King of the Hill anymore, so that has a lesser impact.

 

Assuming that everyone would want to keep Arrested Development -- I don't care too much either way -- I would schedule it:

 

7:00 - King of the Hill

7:30 - Malcolm in the Middle

8:00 - Simpsons

8:30 - Family Guy

9:00 - American Dad

9:30 - Arrested Development

You need to worry about the ratings of the other shows as well. By keeping the animated series in one bloc, excluding King of the Hill, you're all but guaranteeing that you're going to keep the majority of the audience tuned in for that hour-and-a-half. The people who are going to watch the Simpsons will generally watch Family Guy who, in return, will probably watch American Dad. Now, with Arrested Development at 9:30, you're hoping to keep those people that have already tuned into Fox for an hour-and-a-half. First off, with this animated crowd INCLUDING Family Guy fans -- which you won't have before May 1st -- you're adding a new dimension to the possible Arrested Development audience. Then, for the people who stayed tuned for American Dad, they're not going to turn to Cold Case or Desperate Housewives in the middle of those hour-long shows. They might as well just give Arrested Development a chance, and stay on Fox to see if the show is as good as people say it is.

 

Keeping them in the 8:30 timeslot is just COMPLETELY ineffective. It hasn't worked thus far, and I see no reason at all for it working in a few months. Now that I think about it, switching American Dad with Family Guy may work, since it might give Arrested Development a potentially stronger audience. But I think the 9:30 slot for Arrested Development might be the best place for it on the Fox lineup starting in May.

I think if people were really going to watch Arrested Development they would've stayed after the Simpsons.

The ratings have improved, last week's show had 7 million viewers, which was the highest since November. Compared not to the Simpsons or Desperate Housewives, but an average shitty show on Fox or other networks, it does okay. And it has enough of a following to invest in for more than a season and a half.

 

Of course Fox has taken great risks with the show thus far, but to say they've done everything they could is not exactly accurate. The majority of the promos are one line at the end of a stale new Simpson's commercial ("And an all new Arrested!"), and of the hype they do get, it usually sucks. For example, check out the promo "Blind" off of their Season One DVD. That in no way whatsoever is representative of what this show is about. Fox has from day one put this show as a much lower priority than many of their other shows ad-wise.

 

BTW Is it even possible they can afford to move it to FX?

Muniz really grew up awkwardly as well.

 

It doesn't help that everyone on the show is just incredibly unlikable. I did enjoy it during its first season, and a large portion of the second. But it has DEFINITELY run its course.

Did anyone see David Cross on The Jimmy Kimmel Show last night? He pretty much said the show is finished. Said Fox has stopped production on the show. He looked really bummed and depressed too.

Yeah I wonder if people got that Annyong was a parody of adding the kid.

 

The best Annyong moment from when he only said "annyong" was when he was working at the banana stand. It's a big wide shot of the fisherman's village as Michael comes in on his bike, the narrator goes "Michael stopped by the banana stand to say hello to his son" and you can see a tiny little subtitled "Hello" on the banana stand.

Its listed as nothing besides a loser in Mediaweek (if it gets listed), and Fox has given enough time and at some point you just have to pull the plug. Dont misinterpret me while I'm not a regular viewer of AD every time I see the show it KILLS me and I would love to see it do well but the bottom line is its just not happening.
