Last Simpsons episode you truly enjoyed..

Recommended Posts

Seems quite a few on the board have grown tired of the recent Simpsons episode, which is true for me too. Watching the newer episodes, it seems like the show has problems with stories (i.e they're running out of them), while the characters are becoming parodies of themselves. But, we all know that.

I thought about this the other day and the last Simpsons episode I actually enjoyed almost all of was "A Tale Of Two Springfields". Since then, I can't remember an episode where I've watched and haven't thought 'well, that was a decent episode'.

So, what was the last ep you guys watched and enjoyed pretty much all of?

Truly enjoyed? Just about all of them. The show is still funny at least a few times an episode, which makes it funnier to me than 99% of the other shows on TV.

The last episode that I loved, and considered hilarious? Different story altogether, it's been a long while.

Last season I enjoyed was Season 10. I thought season 11 might be good when they started with the Mel Gibson episode, but the following four episodes (Ritalin, Food Critic, the first bad ToH I can remember, and Tomacco) began my cynicism towards the show

There have been a couple episodes here and there they I intermittenly enjoyed, like the boy group parody or the Run Lola Run parody, but now, for the most part, when I occasionally tune in out of curiousity, I'll wind up sitting through the episode with a straight face (as I did last night)

Anger Homer was the last episode I enjoyed but that was entirely for Stan Lee.

I don't actually hate The Simpsons like some people on this board do. Yeah, I'll admit that it is not the same, and that these new episodes can't possibly compare to the early seasons, but I still laugh, and I still find it enjoyable, and so that's all that matters.

Still, I find Family Guy and Arrested Development funnier than The Simpsons today (well I find them funnier than The Simpsons since Season 13 actually).

And Treehouse Of Horror X was great. Flanders as a werewolf, the Xena one, and the Millenium one were hilarious. The Ritalin One, the Food Critic, and the Tomacco episodes weren't that great, I agree, but I loved Treehouse Of Horror X and it was the second best episode of Season 11 (right behind Behind The Laughter, which was awesome as well).

Of all the recent eps, I think that is probably the best.

The episode after the superbowl this year I loved. Before that the one that comes to mind was the one where Homer was afraid of bears.

"Are you a care bear?"

"I'm an intensive-care bear!"

I still enjoy the show

Honestly I can watch a current season episode and a peak era episode and get equal enjoyment.

I'd hav e to say "All's Fair in Oven War" especially for the opening gag

"You Mean a "Honkey" Ring!"

I'm with Slayer, I will buy every Simpsons season from 3 to 10...then it gets tricky cause the good eps are here and there.

From season 11: Moe gets a face lift

The last episode I remember really enjoying the "Linguo" episode...in case you don't remember that's the Run Lola Run parody with Lisa's grammatical robot (season 12)

Right now, they're on season 16...which means they're on their fourth season of nothing but crap :(

The last "great" episode is probably Joy Of Sect, where the entire town joins the Movementarian cult.

Nothing after that really stands out in a good way.

"Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na, Leader!"

The biggest problem with the recent Simpson episodes is they're just now getting around to parodying the Passion and the big gay marriage controversy. I know it takes forever to make these things, but Jesus Christ South Park already beat these things to death, ya know?

Yeah, the Simpsons can't really tackle the hot-button pressing issues of America. Just be funny

The problem is that they ran out of original ideas 6 years ago, so now all they can do is make episodes about issues they want to advocate.

It wasn't that bad about 10 years ago when they made an episode to take on Proposition 187 (Much Apu About Nothing), but now they seem to be making a LOT of episodes just to spout their own world-view instead of being funny.

South Park does the same thing when it comes to story ideas, but at least they're FUNNY when they do it, not heavy-handed and transparent.

The episode where Homer and Lisa go in relaxation tanks and start hallucinating, I enjoyed it because it shows some of the earleir Homer where he's a loving Dad and not just an idiot....

It was a couple seasons ago. I don't remember much of anything about it other than the fact that it had a Bumblebee Man gag. Might've had a heat wave in it, I can't remember. I remember seeing a rerun of it and thinking that maybe it was an older episode I just totally forgot about until I realized that it definitely wasn't.

yknow since it takes froever to animate this show, thus it takes them longer to t

ackle current events.
