Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Just picked it up(X-Box version) and I have to put up with Jeter on the cover of my game instead of Manny because I'm a poor-poor man.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Well if you only worked for two more hours at your job, you could splurge and get the other game instead...
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2005 My thread was about both games. Hmm. Maybe the mods could change mine to an MVP discussion, I guess.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 24, 2005 This game is realistic. I checked what was happening around the league after playing the first day and Ken Griffey Jr went on the 15-Day DL with a hamstring injury. You couldn't ask for it to be more life-like! Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted February 24, 2005 Its the best baseball game I've ever played...well realistic baseball game I should say. Bad News Baseball for the NES will never be beat as it had Bunny Umps and linedrives knocked players out and made a funny "pop" noise when hitting the player. Maybe its just because its the first X-Box baseball title I've owned, but either way its the best.

Kaertos 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Just picked up the game last night, and I am pretty happy with it so far. "In Your Face" mode is fun. So far, the only complaint I have is that I can't find the option to change the sound from stereo to dolby surround...
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Yeah, I got the game, too, and we've discussed it in the MLB vs. MVP thread. I'll probably continue discussing the game in that thread, just so you know. That one will stay bumped. If you want to play online, my GT is MattYoung. EDIT: I forgot to mention this: For those of you who want to purchase this game but haven't done so yet, it'll be on sale for $14.99 starting Sunday at Circuit City. I should've waited a few more days.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 is Best Buy doing this same sale? they recently removed the Circuit City in my city due to poor sales...
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Nope. It's $19.99 at Best Buy. They'd likely do a price match, though. EDIT: After further research, supposedly Best Buy will do a 110% price match on anything in Circuit City's ad, so you'd get the game for $15 plus an extra 10% off ($1.50 basically). Circuit City will have their ad on their website this weekend, so you'd just need to print out the page with MLB on it and take that to BB for the price match. BifEverchad 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 Pitching and Fielding I'm getting used to. But Hitting is my weakness. In my first few games, I find it DAMN near impossible to connect with the ball. the timing is key, I guess. But damn it, it shouldnt seem THIS hard. Any suggestions or options I can adjust to make it a little easier? Thanks, Bif
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2005 Pitching and Fielding I'm getting used to. But Hitting is my weakness. In my first few games, I find it DAMN near impossible to connect with the ball. the timing is key, I guess. But damn it, it shouldnt seem THIS hard. Any suggestions or options I can adjust to make it a little easier? Thanks, Bif I just got the game last night and after playing three games, I agree with you. The pitching seemed difficult and weird at first but now I am getting the handle of it. Hitting is a bit diifcult, even on the easy level. Timing seems to be really hard. "Slam zone" is a novel idea but can get annoying, especially when youre the one pitching. fielding is tough to master as sometimes my fielders run in the wrong directions, but once you pick up the ball the throwing controls are simple and easy enough. I'm having a tough time with baserunning. But I guess I'll get used to all of this. I only played three games, first games Me Yanks vs Red Sox, I lost 4-3 (schilling murdered my hittters, and RJ was ok, but had a few bad innings and gave up 3 runs in 7 inn) I didnt get on the board untill two out in the 9th when Gary sheffield came up to bat and crushed a three run bomb. (It would have been a grand slam, but my problems with baserunning led me to overunning a base and getting thrown out on the previos play) matsui followed with a fly out and I barely lost. good game. second game Me Yanks Vs Orioles (who I have noticed dont have sosa so I had to adjust the rosters later) I won 3-1 (homers by Arod and Giambi served as my only scoring despite getting 11 hits) RJ pitched again and gave up no runs through 7 inn. Mo got the save. Next I played as Team USA vs Dom. Republic and won 18-8 (ok so in this game I did better at hitting and crushed six homers, including 2 by Todd Helton) One question, I tried to find Ramiro Mendoza but it says he is in free agents, but I cant locate him (wanted to put him on the yanks minor league as he is in real life right now) any help? and someone with the info needs to post all the recent big trades and signings that didnt make it in the game (well if you can
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Okay, I finally picked up MLB 2K5 yesterday, local store had it on sale for 15 bucks...so far, I'm digging it, though the graphics coulda been better (one flaw I have noticed in the ESPN games)...the only thing I seem to struggle with is fielding, I never know which guy I'm controlling until it's too late, though I'm sure that'll pass after a few more plays... Question: I'm not very knowledgable about how the pitching staff/bullpen works...when should I use the LRP, MRP, set-up guy and closer? Like what innings/situations? thanks for your help! Kaertos 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 I think the latest roster they have for download online is from 2-14-2005. Anyone have any idea how often they update? Also, I managed to get enough credits to unlock the '76 Cincinnati Reds. I opened up the roster and most of the names are not right. Frankly, I am a little annoyed. Why put a team in the game if you don't have the rights to make it vaguely resemble the team. The amount of changes I'm going to have to make are annoying. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 Question: I'm not very knowledgable about how the pitching staff/bullpen works...when should I use the LRP, MRP, set-up guy and closer? Like what innings/situations? thanks for your help! Long relieve should be used when you have to yank your starter relitively early in the game (say fourth or fifth inning). Middle relief is exactly what the name implies. Set-up is in the eighth and closer's in the ninth, but usually only if you're winning by three or less runs. Otherwise, there's no need to run your closer out there in a non-save situation. It may not be a bad idea to bring your closer in when you're tied in the ninth or extra innings, though. Closer's are often the best pitcher's in the pen, so it makes sense to use them when the game's on the line.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 I started a season as the yanks. I am 2-1 currently (lost frist game to red sox, but won next too in my last game I came back from a 4-1 defecit in the 6th inning.) Should I have tried gm mode ? or is season cool too? I still dont really enjoy the hitting system, but I m getting better at the game Still not bad for under 20 bucks

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 So far my favorite thing about this game is when Yankee fans online bring Tanyon Sturtze into tie games instead of Mo Rivera Why is that? lol Actually in rl , you dont bring your closer in a tie game unless absoultely necessary. Actually in all honesty Rivera seems better in this game then he did in ASB 05. I don't even think I have used Sturtze once yet. NY Haters Why can't someone understand that I am as loyal and as big a Fan of my team as anyone else. Oh well this isn't the sports forum. This game is still pretty cool.
