An Interesting Item About Tatanka

Regarding the pouring of a bloody mary on Amy Weber, one veteran wrestler who isn't usually prudish when it comes to pranks, said: "That's immature and uncalled for. That's cowardly to go after a target like that. What's she gonna do?" When Curt Hennig was released from WWE the last time, it was because management believed he dropped a pill in a stewardess's drink on a charter flight. Undertaker was under the impression it was Hennig, and he may have endorsed firing Hennig over it. Others on the flight, though, claim that Lesnar was the real culprit in that case. Tatanka was also fired by WWE for an incident involving grotesque sexual abuse of a woman in a hotel room while on the road. It turns out, though, that he had nothing to do with it and another wrestler, who wasn't with WWE long after the fact, was the perpetrator and Tatanka was passed out nearby...

Anybody ever hear anything about this? In a New Jack shoot interview in 1996, he said something about Tatanka and Jimmy Delray being accused of rape, but I didn't know to believe since it was coming from New Jack.

The only controversy I ever remember hearing about Tatanka was in 1993 when Paul Diamond was caught sleeping with his wife, so they made sure that Tatanka and Max Moon were never in the ring at the same time during the Rumble becasue they were afraid Tatanka would quite literally kill Diamond right there in the middle of the ring. Diamond was released like a week later. I had always assumed taht he was released in 1996 simply because his time had past He dissapeared from August 1995 to January 1996, and even after that was only used for a few months to put over other guys.

Where'd you read about the Diamond/Tatanka incident? Kinda weird... although it's true that Diamond was released like the next day after the Rumble.

Interesting story however. Tatanka was pretty over for a midcarder, but then WWF turns him heel, but keeps him as the native american, then gradually pushes him down the card until he's jobbing to everyone possible.

I agree, Tatanka was over as a high midcarder. I always thought he should have got the IC title at WmIX. Dont know if he could have been ME material but he deserved better then what he got.

Tatanka doesn't need wrestling. He's fucking loaded from non-wrestling business ventures.

I hung out with him for a half hour or so backstage at a show two years ago. Relatively nice guy, though into his Native American religion/heritage a tad bit too much.

Have you ever seen his website? I did about 3 years ago and gave the link to wrestlecraps rd reynolds, he put my letter in the mailbag and everyone thought it was funny.

his site's bio section , he made himself look like a huge wwf star when infact he was only a midcarder at best

good to see hes nice in person though and good for him that he made some money

What kind of business ventures?

I was going to say casinos but I could see how that would offend people.

I was scared you were going to say that.

That's kind of funny that he sells Amway. I almost got wrapped up in that mess.

I meant to say Paul Diamond was taken off TV after the Rumble. Thats the last time I remember seeing him on TV (actually the only time, since I just started getting back into the WWF) and I watched almost every week.

Yeah, I liked Tatanka a lot during his "undefeated streak". I know he wasn't the best worker, but for the time he seemed good (I mean, compared to guys like Warlord and Bastion Booger, the guy was Ricky f'n Steamboat). I was MAD when Ludvig Borga beat him in a total screwjob match, and wanted him to get revenge really bad. I also thought he should've beat Michaels and had at least a short IC title run. I think WWF dropped the ball with him when they turned him heel, or maybe he just pissed off someone in management.

I think the problem was, when he turned heel he kinda turned on his heritage by riding around in limos and wearing suits... but still wrestled as "Native American" Tatanka, and did the same mannuerisms like he was a babyface, except with more resting.

They should've just had him denounce the heritage in him to drive the heel turn point home. He just became boring to the point he was as heatless as, for example, Henry Godwinn, or other useless midcarders.

They should have gone a different route and have Tatanka start exploiting his heritage. Have him use Dibiase's money to open a Casino and be a rich spiteful Indian upset at how his people have been treated, like Hassan and Daivari/ are today
