The Following People are Terrible

I only recall disliking you because you were bitching about how society views fat people.

ok, we'll add that to the list.

Because just like society, we like to pretend you don't exist.

well, that explains that.

I never really liked Star Wars. I mean, it's ok, but it's not some hot shit like people say.

i agree. i can understand when the original 3 came out, people were blown away by the FX, they were original for their time, but nowadays big FX are so commonplace it's not that big a deal. the movies are ok for what they are, but they're not THAT great.

ok, how am i NOT on this list? everyone here hates me. "Biggest Spaz Ever", "Whiniest Bitch in the History of the Internet", "the Measuring Stick of what it Means to be a Loser on the Internet" (ie. fat, atheist, wrestling fan, bitter at people with social lives), does ANY of this ring a bell? i should be at the TOP of this list, dammit!

But you're a MySTie.

I can't hate someone of my own kind.

The effects are the last thing I thought about when I saw them originally. The characters themselves and the true episodic storytelling are what hooked me. I end up sounding like people who try to tell me why Kill Bill was awesome because of all the Kung Fu film references and harkenings when I tell people that Star Wars is awesome because of the 30s sci-fi nature.

well, that's just a theory on my part, the story is good for what it is. i liked the first 3 ok, but "Phanton Menace" , the only one fo the new ones i've seen, sucked. i just didn't care for it at all, and didn't bother to see "Clone Wars". the franchise as a whole is certainly ok, i just don't buy into the whole "Warsies" markdom shit, y'know? i think there are alot better movies out there.

I wouldn't mind Star Wars if it admitted that it was a series of children's movies. Then it could be allowed more breathing room. That's why I love Harry Potter. It admits up front that it's for children, which gives it the space to be more mature, because it doesn't have to prove anything.

Hey, it was actually the 50s and not the 30s, but you ever see Commando Cody? It was a Rocketeer rip off. When they made that Rocketeer movie, they should have called it Commando Cody. It's such a better name.

By the way, I also hate it when people refer to a group of people by their defining characteristic with an ie at the end, from Fundies to Trekkies.

Kill Bill was great because of so many things beyond the "classic" kung-fu film references that whenever I hear anyone make that argument, a small part of me dies inside.

I wish they'd admit that about the films also. If it were really meant to be super-serious and shit (which it does already, but in a different way) it'd have much more gruesome things and a PG-13 rating or something. "For kids and younger people" is part of what enters into my idea of the serialized films from the early part of the 20th century anyway, so I readily admit it.

Commado Cody was shown in like 2/3 of the first season MST episodes, but that's the only way I've seen any of it.

And I really hate the -ie ending, because it makes Star Wars fans sound like Star Trek fans, who are by default MUCH worse.

actually Commando Cody was a rip-off of Rocket-Man (or vice versa), and the Rocketeer, more then likely inspired by the other two, was a character form an old comic book from the '50' or '60's. why they bothered to make a movie out of such an obscure character is beyond me.

You did not just use the term "Warsie."

sorry, i just meant it as a blanket term for Star Wars "marks". won't happen again. :(

MUCH agreed.

i love Shatner, but hate Star Trek. it's quite the paradox.

Commando Cody was bullshit, the guy was a wooden indian. Somehow I don't think it would provide for some of the better MST episodes (which I've never seen) because I remember it being full of long stretches of nothing happening. That's why I don't like Manos that much, there's just not enough for them to comment on.

It remains a much better name than Rocketeer. Commando Cody sounds like somebody kids can get behind. Rocketeer sounds like something they'd do on SNL (which I also hate).

i've only seen one episode from season 1, "The Crawling Hand" and it wasn't that bad. my only major gripe was Josh Weinstein, who wasn't funny AT ALL as Dr. F's assistant (Thank god for the wonder that is Frank), and i couldn't get used to him as the voice of Servo. Kevin Murphy did SOOO much better.

Right, I always confuse Rocketman and Rocketeer. In any case, they're all pretty much the same. There was a more recent Rocketeer comic book which is what they based the movie on (I believe the guy was still doing it into the mid 90s as well)

didn't know that. the only issues i remember him being in were his original appearances in the 50's-60's (sharing a bill with another world renowned character "Missing Man").

By the way, I used to hate Star Trek but I think it's ok now. The original was funny in a corny way and the Next Generation was pretty good in a normal way. Patrick Stewart, you know, is a real actor, not just a tv actor. I have no interest in any of the other series.

There's nobody in the world worse than Star Trek fans however. Cept perhaps Buffy fans.

i remember watching an episode of the original Star Trek series, stoned off my ass, and thinking what a huge pompous-ass Shatner came off as. thank god he got better with age. he's great on "Boston Legal". but back then you could tell he thought his shit didn't stink.

Well, as much as Manos was a Defining Moment for me in MST, for sheer comedy value it's tough to beat a, say, "Space Mutiny" (hey, Big McLargeHuge) or "Cave Dwellers." But I can't sit through something like "The Unearthly" without nodding off, unlike "Manos" which is consistently entertaining. Your milage may vary, I s'pose.

Don't make me bring back the "Rocket Man" avatar. I like Leonard Cohen where he is.

Hey! I resemble that remark. (And you need to see "The Body".)

I enjoyed the Manos episode just because of how incredibly laughable the movie was, but I'm agreed that some bad movies just don't make for good episodes. I saw Red Zone Cuba and Eegah! last week, and barely laughed at all just because of how wretchedly bad & unentertaining they were.

Do see Attack of the Clones sometime, you may like it. I hated Phantom Menace as much as anyone, but episode II wasn't that bad.
