Morgan Freeman may join the Ku Klux Klan in protest!:-

London March 02, 2005 2:08:11 PM IST

Morgan Freeman, who won Oscar this week for best supporting actor in 'Million Dollar Baby', has accused his fellow African-Americans of supporting hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan and said that he might join the group in protest.

The actor, who fought lawmakers in 2001 to change the slave flag's design, refused to join the battle to remove the Confederate battle flag in the corner of the ensign of his home state of Mississippi.

"The flag, the stars and bars, has personal resonance to me because to me it doesn't represent so much the south as a very negative mind-set that is not necessarily southern," femalefirst quoted Freeman as saying.

"You see that flag wherever you see skinheads, radical right wingers, neo-Nazis, any hate group. It's pitiful. They still feel that they do not have a say. That's why they don't do it. That's the apathy part of it... It's too bad. Maybe now I'll go and join the Ku Klux Klan," he said. (ANI)

I find it so disheartening that people automatically think that skinhead == racist hatemonger. Most real skinheads are NOT racist and hate the boneheads more than an average Joe on the street does. Yes, some skins are racist, but most are not.

I suddenly had the strangest mental image of Morgan Freeman curbing a young black youth.

Leave it up to the Brits to take an offhand remark and spin it into an incomprehensible "news" item.

Wait, I'm lost.

He doesn't like the flag. He finds it pitful yet he is refusing to join the fight to have it removed.

Color me confused cause that line didn't make an ounce of sense to me when the quote was added on.

Yes, people don't give nearly enough credit to the friendly, charitable skinheads who make important contributions to their community. :P

So what is the correct definition of a "skinhead," exactly?

I'd like to know this also nl5xsk1. What you posted before didn't make a lick of sense to me. We must know totally different "skinheads", or we are thinking of a totally different thing.

I'd like to know this also nl5xsk1. What you posted before didn't make a lick of sense to me. We must know totally different "skinheads", or we are thinking of a totally different thing.

Historically, the first skinheads came around in the mid-60's, and were working class stiffs (think dock workers or factory workers) that hated the rich & the middle class, hated the government, hated the hippies of the time, etc. They were pretty much an offshoot of the whole Jamaican Rude Boy/UK mod scene, and their style of dress & music were both affected by this; for example, reggae & ska were the music of choice. The biggest thing, though, was that they were COMPLETELY non-racist. They, in fact, were more likely to be hanging with the Jamaican immigrants (who were also working class) than anyone white.

The 70's brought about the beginning of hooliganism and the origin of the "angry skinhead", and this, naturally I guess, segued to the racist (RAC) skinheads of the 1980s (think Tom Metzger and his idiot followers throwing chairs at Geraldo). Sadly, the US pretty much never enjoyed a non-Racist skin scene ... but there were a few of us that were DEFINITELY non-Racist skins, called S.H.A.R.P.s (SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice). Most S.H.A.R.P. skins DETEST the RAC, or boneheads.

Wow, that was a lot more than I thought I'd write. Sorry if it's boring. It's just that I was S.H.A.R.P. (that still dresses in a "skinhead style" occasionally today) that was always pissed whenever people automatically assumed that I was a racist. And I guess I got on a roll.

EDIT: The wikipedia definition is much better than mine .... but I will warn you that the skinheadz.com link on the bottom is a RAC farce that gets shit on by any real skin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinhead

A skinhead is just a straight edge kid that gets drunk.

sXe = :throwup:

You've expressed much distaste for the sXe thing before. I know that since you're a pot smoking drunk you might not get along with them, but there seems to be a deeper hatred. I'm curious as to why.

I never assumed skinheads to be racist really. Some are, but whenever I saw white people with shaved heads I assumed to be like regular folk, and they were.

It wasn't boring Nlsx51 (that's what I think your name is based on memory), I actually found that interesting.

The whole bald thing came about because it's a pain in the ass to fight when someone's got a clump of your wig, kneeing you in the grill.

I think I get what Morgan is saying, but that "article" isn't helping matters.

Lil Jon has used the confederate flag, by the way.

Oh well THAT makes it okay then.

JBL used the Nazi salute. Does that make it cool too?

Do people in South even realize they lost that war?

Yes, they do. And lots of the ones who defend it simply want it there as a consant reminder of what they did. It's not their proudest moment and they don't want it removed.

The Confederate Flag just because the symbol of racism thanks mostly to the KKK. The Rebel army wasn't just fighting to keep slaves, there was a whole helluva lot more to it.

The article though is confusing. Hack writer doing a hack job.

Just because he's black, does not make it acceptable.

Lil Jon is hardly an ambassador for Blacks across the country.
