Bruiser Chong Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Saw this trailer when I went to see Hitch. Looks like an unnecessary pile of garbage sequel that people will eat up with a giant spoon.
Use Your Illusion Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 You know, it's unbelieveable how many people in my town still use that 'that's a huge bitch!' joke OVER AND OVER. And over. The original must be the most influential of the modern era.
bob_barron Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Norm is in it so sadly I'll cough up the $10 to see it
strummer Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Norm is fiercely loyal to the Sandler/Farley/Schneider/Spade SNL era, despite the fact he became a big star after they all left. Didn't he badmouth the Ferrell led group that took over in 95?
bob_barron Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 He didn't really badmouth it- I don't think he liked a lot of the corny stuff like Spartans. He hates Chris Kattan and everything he did though. Norm got in hot water in 96-97 because Rolling Stone went to do a profile on SNL and how it was funny again and ended up focusing totally on Norm. From the article: Macdonald remains a staunch defender of the previous SNL regime. "That was a great time," he says. "Sandler, Farley and Spade were the funniest guys." And what of this new regime? "They're very talented. More talented than funny, to me."
Placebo Effect Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 You know, to be honest, the movie doesn't look too bad. That slave trade joke wasn't too bad when you consider that this a mainstream sequel, and it looks like it could possibly have trainwreck potential.

"They're very talented. More talented than funny, to me." I agree with Norm 100% here. Spade/Farley/Sandler might not have been the most talented actors in the world, but they were funny They could make something out of horribly written sketches. People like Ana Gastayer, Cheri Oteri, Molly Shannon, Kattan etc. might have been better actors, but when on their own, not aided by great writing to follow, they just weren't funny. I hated the cheerleaders sketch as well. I know the 95-97 cast gets a lot of love, but IMO it was because the writing had vastly improved since the bad boy years and because they were better actors, with more improv cast members than stand ups.
Ted the Poster Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Norm is in it so sadly I'll cough up the $10 to see it Holy hell Bob. Would you have seen Glitter if Norm was in it?

The Czech Republic Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 Norm MacDonald has a cameo in a new gay porno called "Yank Aaron." They're watching an old Weekend Update after they go at it. Do you rent it?
bob_barron Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 If it's something of Norm's I've already seen then probably not. If it's something of Norm's I've never seen then I'd watch it.
Guest BrokenWings Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I saw Norm on Celebrity Poker Showdown, today. The banter between him and Michael Ian Black was pretty funny, as was MIB's constant hype of his signed David Copperfield promotional picture which seemed to bring him good luck.
bob_barron Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Norm losing to Michael Ian Black pissed me off- since I hate MIB so much. Norm seems to have confidence issues whenever he plays games on TV. On Millioniare and Poker- he could've won but he got nervous and beat himself
Ted the Poster Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Ever occur that the dull unfunny guy might be a better player? I mean, he sucks at comedy so he's gotta be decent at something.. Bobbo- you watch E!, don't you?
bob_barron Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Michael Ian Black only won b/c Norm beat himself. I don't get E! so no- I don't watch it
