griffinmills 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2005 I understand that VOD is neat and all for Digital Cable folks but why don't they also offer a standard version that can be shown for non-digital cable folks? For instance many people with Dish/DirectTV have tivos that, once they grab a showing, can do the exact same thing. Couldn't they just show everything in a 20 hour straight loop on a premium channel or break it in to 5 4 hour blocks 7 3 hour blocks or whatever...? I'm not AGAINST VOD per se, I catch Sopranos that way, it just seems odd to "limit" yourself this way.

They're probably thinking... "I've got to get rid of this toothless redneck! It's almost break time!" I love the stigma that comes from being a wrestling fan. Seriously. I like to talk with all these food technologists and other intellectual types at work about serious stuff and then "let it slip" that I'm a fan. They have these dumbfounded looks on their faces like they can't understand how an intelligent man like myself could LIKE wrestling.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2005 I thought I'd bump up this old discussion to say that they previously said "end of March in select markets" and it is now the end of JUNE and it is still in one lone market. Granted, they've got a page set up and everything, but now that I got digital cable boxes installed in my new abode, I frowned upon seeing that the VOD offerings here in Vegas are what they were months ago, still just PPV and Premium Movie Networks. The one market offering WWE 24/7? New Orleans, LA. So, anyone here who lives there go get it and enjoy, ya' lucky goddamn bastards.
Alro 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Insight Communications just added WWE 24/7 and compared to the other outlets listed on wwe.com, it is the most expensive at $9.00 per month. But at least we've got it.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Yeah Alro, I actually got the Insight WWE 24/7 this week. I watched most of Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses, BATB 96, I did a DVD recording of WM 7, and watched some ECW on there too. I want more, dammit! I heard they are going to show GAB 90, which I wanna tape as well.
packwingfn 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 They already showed GAB 90. And I'm fine with all the content they show. I barely have enough time to watch what they already give us.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 It's really weird. When someone says WWF they beep out the F, but when someone says World Wrestling Federation that is ok. If you can figure that one out you're good. Bah, I wanted to see GAB 90 too. Sting beats Flair for the title...Midnights vs. Southern Boys, Mean Mark on a PPV... Directv obviously has a solid relationship now with the WWE (They are offering a 3 PPV deal (GAB,SS,Unforgiven) for $88.95, and will be showing Summerslam Recall for free next weekend on channel 121) so I would assume as soon as Directv has the capability to offer it, they will. When they specify 'World Wrestling Federation' there's no problem.

I've had the VOD receiver in my room for about a month and a half, and I only have about 12 movies to pick from and they all cost money. I heard that they are going to be doing an massive overhaul of VOD programming soon though, as this is very new technology for them. They did partition 100 hours worth of hard drive space off my DVR for VOD content, so they better use the damn space soon!
chaosrage 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Well I'm in New Orleans but some PPVs I've already seen and three Sgt Slaughter matches isn't really making me run to the remote. What is history of ECW? Is it worth seeing? Are the entire RAWs and Nitros shown or just a couple of matches?
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 the raws and nitros are shown in their entirity... I've enjoyed WWE 24/7 so far...I've been able to go back and record some PPVs I've missed over the years...Bash At The Beach 96 is on there right now, overall it's not that great but it does feature a FANTASTIC Rey Mysterio/Psychosis match and of course it's the infamous Hogan heel turn night, so it's good to have for historical purposes... Right now, the History of ECW series is focusing on 94, the times before it really started to pick up...
chaosrage 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Good, the programming guide made it seem like they didn't show the whole thing. Pillman vs Malenko is on the 01/22/96 nitro. I wouldn't mind seeing that. I just wish that they showed more of them a month though. I mean, at the rate they're going, it'll take 4 years to get to 1998. (Meaning 4 years to see heel WCW Jericho ) Any idea on how how long it'll take for history of ECW to reach '95? I'm guessing they have to edit out all of the ECW themes or not show any of the entrances from that time, right?

Cuz I hear dthey showed that on the nWo dvd, but my vhs Turner Home Video copy edited that out. And I agree Lushus on the rey/psychosis match, its one of the best PPV openers ever IMO. and The Nasty Boys/ Public Enemey match is fun, epsecially for the commetary with Dusty/Heenan/Schiavone. ("He's beating a man with a rubber shark" "Two count on the surfoboard") Any idea when Socal Adelphia will get it? Adelphia was acquired by timewarner/comacast but they havent changed over yet here. and also does NY get it? and which cable cos if so?

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Why would they have to edit out Buffer's announcing? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well they have on the dvds so far. But I believe that Buffer will charge them to use his likeness and vocie. Just him saying ready to rumble is copyrighted alone and he'd probably ask for some cash. Guest ArchoanJB Report post Posted July 18, 2005 I got this a week ago (Insight in Anderson, IN). A couple notes They show 2 Raws and Nitro's a month, not one. They also show 2 ECW TV shows. The announcer (no matter who is the ring announcer) is overdubbed on the WCW shows, and a lot of the WCW music is overdubbed as well. Usually these shows especially if they are PPV are the actual PPV version and not the VHS/clipped versions shown sometime. Wrestlemania 7 was the complete nearly 4 hr show instead of the 2 1/2 clipped version on Col. Video.
