{''({o..o})''} Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 33/40, I played waaay too much back then.
AndrewTS Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 9/40, with a few mistakes, but I never owned an NES.
teke184 Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 27/40 and counting... It appears most of the ones I'm missing are from the latter end of the system's life, when I'd moved on to the Genesis instead.
AndrewTS Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 If anyone gets 'em all, post the results please.
tekcop Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 11/40 although there are quite a few I know but just can't think of their names.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 20/40, The racing games got me and some of the games I know but don't recall the exact name.
The Metal Maniac Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 I gave up after it told me that Zelda 2: Adventure of Link was wrong, but that Adventure of Link was right.
teke184 Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 The game will take abbreviations OR the title of a game and the sequel numberOR the subtitle of a game, but not all of them. Confirmed correct results so far: 1. Gun Smoke 2. Gradius (aka Nemesis) 3. Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest 4. Zelda 2 (aka Adventure Of Link) 5. Mario Bros. 6. The Guardian Legend (aka Guardic Gaiden) 7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (aka TMNT, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles) 8. Mission: Impossible 9. Blades of Steel 10 Werewolf: The Last Warrior 11. Contra (aka Probotector, Gryzor) 12. Duck Hunt 13. Mach Rider 14. ? 15. Metal Gear 16. Ice Climber 17. Battletoads 18. Legend Of Kage 19. Shadowgate 20. Kickle Cubicle 21. ? 22. ? 23. Track And Field 2 36. Batman 37. Wrath of the Black Manta 38. Metroid 39. Wizards and Warriors 3 40. Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 3. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest 17. Battletoads 23. Kirby's Adventure 40. Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Slayer Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 23/40 and probably not getting any more Also, you should probably put spoilers around the answers. To add to Teke's list: 26. Solar Jetman 34. Little Samson 37. Wrath of the Black Manta Leftover are 14, 21, 22, 24, 28 and 33
alfdogg Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Looks like 7/40 is about all I'm going to come up with. I never did stray too far from Mario and Mega Man.
Fökai Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 21. Rad Gravity 22. Super Turrican 24. Double Dragon II 28. Ufouria 18/40.
Slayer Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 21. Rad Gravity 22. Super Turrican 28. Ufouria Never heard of any of those That just leaves 14 (which seems so familiar but I can't figure out) and 33
teke184 Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 I think #21 is the only one of the three to get a release in the US, although it was near the end of the console's life.
Exslade ZX Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 An impressive 2/40. Although technically it was 3, but it didn't count 'Super Mario'. >_> But hey, I'm 17...so I guess I have reason
AndrewTS Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Concerning 22: I got it "correct" when I put in Turrican. GameFAQs lists Super Turrican as getting only a European release--and it's a different game from the SNES Super Turrican. The Turrican games are virtually unheard of here in the States, because the series started on the Amiga. Over here, the Genesis got the original Turrican, a bastardized conversion of Turrican 2 in the form of "Universal Soldier", and Mega Turrican (a good game despite the wretched in-game anime-style art. Turrican 1 and 2 are okay, but their awful way of dealing with damage taken really hurts the enjoyment. You don't get hit, take damage, and bounce away from an enemy with a brief window of invincibility. When you come in contact with an enemy, every millisecond you're touching it, it saps energy, and there's no bounce-back. So a tiny, weak enemy could sap nearly all your life if it is in contact with you for a few seconds. Very lame. Thankfully they fixed that for Mega/SNES Super 1 and 2--dunno about the NES ST. The SNES got Super Turrican and Super Turrican 2. Two very good games, but the creator of the original games wasn't involved in it. You can read up on the series' history here: http://www.classicgaming.com/reviews/turrican/turrican.htm I'd recommend trying the SNES Turricans or, best of all, Mega Turrican for Genesis if you find one of them used. Hella fun.
Ted the Poster Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 14/40 Blades of Steel was a hockey game? That name doesn't make me think "hockey game", but "ninja platformer" instead.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 An impressive 2/40. Although technically it was 3, but it didn't count 'Super Mario'. >_> But hey, I'm 17...so I guess I have reason It wasn't Super Mario, it was the original Mario Bros. I did the same thing though with Simon's Quest. I put in Castlevania and it didn't accept it. Wrong game in the series.
alfdogg Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Yeah, "Mario Bros." is just the battle game like on Super Mario 3.
AndrewTS Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I could smack myself for missing 38, since that's one of the few NES games I actually played myself. If they'd had shown some of the surroundings... "Blades of Steel was a hockey game? That name doesn't make me think 'hockey game', but 'ninja platformer' instead." Heh, yeah. But it was a hell of a game. I'd have probably bought it myself to play, and I have zero interest in real hockey.
Ced Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 12/40 before turning to the cheat sheet. Not too bad considering I had such a limited library as a kid.
spman Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Super Turrican was a Euro-Only release towards the end of the systems life, it's not a particularly good one, so it's just as well. Uforia on the other hand is an awesome game that unfortuanatly never made it out of Europe and Australia.
Guest Evolution Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 9/40 before cheating. Can't believe I couldn't come up with #27. But otherwise I blame my limited library as a child.
Mole Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 3/40 I played a lot of Super Tecmo Bowl. Don't be hatin.
spman Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 I've got all but 14, that ones got me stumped.
