UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 1.) Whatever happened to Chris Tucker? 2.) Is there ever going to be another National Lampoon's Griswold Family Vacation movie? Or is that "Johnson Family Vacation" shit taking their place? That movie was brutal. 3.) Did Will Smith and Johnny Depp really turn down the role of Neo in The Matrix before Keanu Reeves accepted it? 4.) Why hasn't Ed Norton put out a movie in like 2 years? 5.) Is there really going to be a Rocky 6? 6.) Is Eddie Murphy ever going to start making "real" movies again or is he going to be forever doing the Daddy Day Care, Pluto Nash type shit? I'll try to think of more later.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Well, I enjoyed Pluto Nash more than I did a barrage of Murphy's non-Beverly Hills Cop 80's hits...sooooo...
spman 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Rocky 6 PROBABLY won't ever see the light of day, although the script is written, and Stallone is trying to use The Contender as a thinly veiled seheme to try and spark some more interest into boxing, so there's still a chance he could convince MGM to back it. Another Chevy Chase Vacation movie really wouldn't work logistically. He's what, in his mid-60's now? The kids would be what, in their late-20's, early-30's? Let's leave the past in the past. Eddie Murphy is keeping a low profile right now, which is probably what is best for him. After a non-stop string of terrible movies and box office flops, he's likely just waiting long enough for the public to forget about The Haunted Mansion and Pluto Nash. Although there currently is a Daddy Daycare sequel in the works. Chris Tucker is probably just sitting on his ass waiting for Rush Hour 3 to start filming in July. I'll try to think of more later. 1. Rush Hour 3 begins filming in July. He's milking the franchise for all it's worth. Supposedly, most of the scripts that he's read over the past couple of years have not been to his liking. I'm still a fan of his, though... 2. I hope not. Vegas Vacation most likely put the final nail in the coffin. 3. I'm not sure. 4. He has about 5 movies that he's done/doing that have yet to be released. 5. I actually hope there will be. 6. Well, his family films have been somewhat successful (Minus Pluto Nash) while anything other than that has not.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 17, 2005 Well, Will Smith DID turn down the role of Neo but he has no regrets about doing so. He's been quoted as saying that the part was "made for Keanu." I'm not sure about Depp turning down the role. I do think Tom Cruise would've made a really good Neo, though.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 1.) Whatever happened to Chris Tucker? 1. I read somewhere that he thinks he is too good for a lot of movies. Me thinks his head is tooo big. 2.) Is there ever going to be another National Lampoon's Griswold Family Vacation movie? Or is that "Johnson Family Vacation" shit taking their place? That movie was brutal. 2. Well Johnson Family Vacation isn't a National Lampoon movie. Plus, Vacation made $61 million in 1983, while JFV made $31 million in 2004. I don't see a JFV sequel in the works. And as as for the Vacation/European/Christmas/Vegas movies, I don't think there is going to be another. The movies didn't break any box-office records. Vacation (83) - $61 European (85) - $49 Christmas (89) - $71 Vegas (97) - $36 And they did make that Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure, which was on TV. I remember watching about 5 minutes of it then feeling bad for Chevy Chase for some reason. 3.) Did Will Smith and Johnny Depp really turn down the role of Neo in The Matrix before Keanu Reeves accepted it? 3. Will Smith turned down the role because he decided to make Wild, Wild West. We all know which film did better... As for Depp, this is the first I heard about getting an offer for the role. I know that Leo didn't take it because, well, he is Leo. 4.) Why hasn't Ed Norton put out a movie in like 2 years? 4. The Italian Job was his last film, which was 2003. I'd say 1.5 years, but I'm just being picky. He has Kingdom Heart coming out soon and has a bunch in production right now. But why it has been awhile, I have no idea. 5.) Is there really going to be a Rocky 6? 5. I hope so. Just because Rocky is the shit. 6.) Is Eddie Murphy ever going to start making "real" movies again or is he going to be forever doing the Daddy Day Care, Pluto Nash type shit? 6. Probably not. Has he ever made a "real" movie? I was just looking through his film credits and he has never played a serious role before. All of them are comedies. I have a question: 7. Why did Joe Pesci quit? I know he retired, but why?

She's in a new movie for the Oxygen Network, and is basically in her underwear the entire movie. I think she's starting to get it. She has to do T and A parts to get attention and more projects. JasonX 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 2.) Is there ever going to be another National Lampoon's Griswold Family Vacation movie? Or is that "Johnson Family Vacation" shit taking their place? That movie was brutal. The franchise is basically dead and I don't see them bringing it back, especially given how Chevy Chase has fallen into oblivion careerwise. 6.) Is Eddie Murphy ever going to start making "real" movies again or is he going to be forever doing the Daddy Day Care, Pluto Nash type shit? Murphy's career has peaked/jumped the shark with him doing safe comedy films for Disney since they make money half the time. And IIRC didn't Daddy Day Care make a profit at the box office? What happened to Jennifer Love Hewitt Her career effectively died a quick death when her Party of Five spin-off got cancelled. I've also heard rumors that JLH has a bad reputation with the various film studios in Hollywood as being a diva, which is why she hasn't had that much of a movie career. Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Yep, over 100 million. Eddie Murphy only has 1 definite box office success these days, and that's the Shrek franchise.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 You have to include worldwide numbers because if his movies do well overseas, then he is still going to get jobs. Overseas = money. For example, Waterworld cost around $175 million to make and only grossed $90 million in the US. However, it made $165 overseas so I'd call it a success in one way or another. Here are his movies and how much money they made in the past 5 years: Movie Domestic Worldwide Shrek 2 $436,721,703 $901,021,703 Haunted Mansion $75,817,994 $155,750,628 Daddy Day Care $104,148,781 $164,285,587 I Spy $33,561,137 $33,561,137 Pluto Nash $4,411,102 $4,411,102 Showtime $37,948,765 $37,948,765 Doctor Dolittle 2 $112,950,721 $176,101,721 Shrek $267,652,016 $481,900,000 Nutty Professor 2 $123,307,945 $161,600,000 In 5 years, he has done 9 movies and only 3 of them didn't do well. And those three movies weren't family flicks, so "by the numbers" he shouldn't do movies that aren't aimed at the family audience. I'd say he is doing pretty well for himself right now. The critics might hate him, but he is making a couple bucks and still is a draw.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 Chris Tucker has stated that he's only going to do two more films and then he's stopping his acting career. I think he has that Rush Hour III to do, and then Money Talks 2. If you look on IMDB they only have Rush Hour III listed as upcoming projects, so don't look for him to do much more than that. He seems like a really friendly and down to earth guy to be an actor, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him dedicate most of his time to charity work, which he pretty much has already done. Mole 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 It doesn't really bother me since he does more overacting than acting. He doesn't want to take that title away from Jim Carrey.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2005 6. Probably not. Has he ever made a "real" movie? I was just looking through his film credits and he has never played a serious role before. All of them are comedies. Not quite. Metro was basically straight action, and some might tell you otherwise, but I believe Harlem Nights was truly a drama. His choice to make a crime drama starring himself, Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx was utterly bizarre, and I think accounts for it's less than stellar reputation. People expected it to be funny. Watched as a drama, it's actually pretty good.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 3. Will Smith turned down the role because he decided to make Wild, Wild West. We all know which film did better... Did better box-office, it is true, but which was better? Personally, I prefer Wild Wild West over Matrix anyday. Kevin Kline > Keanu.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2005 I adore Wild Wild West, but it's awful. I also came to like the Matrix quite a bit, but it's because of the Secret Plot That No One But Me Got (well, that and the action). Then again, I haven't watched the new dvds, maybe it's on there. Has to do with Neo being a robot.
