TNA Apparently In Talks With The Rock

Recommended Posts

In a pretty interesting development, reports suggest that TNA’s Jeff Jarrett has been in contact with the Rock about possible future appearances for the company. Sources suggest that the Rock didn’t dismiss the idea, but did want to wait till the end of his “Be Cool” promotional tour before discussing any future plans.

It goes without saying that if the Rock agreed a deal with TNA, it would be a major coup, and at the same time, would send a big message to WWE.

Sources: PWInsider.com

This won't happen ... But image this for one second, this would be huge

Why not imagine that they'd sign Spielberg to write their shows?

It has the same chance of happening.

The Rock vs T-Rex...

Actually... they should air a wrestling match where someone goes up against an animated opponent who does all kinds of sick shit... If they made it look real enough, that match would rule.

It would be huge until he jobbed to Jarrett and 60-year old Big Sluggy.

TNA is such shit.

I feel stupid for downloading one of their PPV's.

Why don't they get ahold of Kanyon? Seriously. At least he'd stay around. It's not like The Rock would be anything more than a special attraction in the off-hand chance that he would stop by. I mean, they are in Florida....

Mostly because 1 or 2 appearances by the Rock would do more for them as a promotion than Kanyon would as a full timer.

It would be great if The Rock did sign for TNA, but I think this is just another piece of internet bullshit. I'm not holding my breath, let's put it that way...

While I don't think that the Rock would really sign with TNA, it does have a better chance of happening than Spielberg writing their shows (and, yes, I know you were being facetious). If TNA offered Rock a ton of money to appear a handful of times a year, why wouldn't he? He loves the limelight and he seems to at least like wrestling.

Do I think it's likely? No. But is it more likely than someone that has no past affiliation with wrestling getting involved? Yes.

Keep in mind the ONLY reason Rock does ANYTHING with wrestling now is out of a sense of loyalty to the WWF/E for giving him his break.

Agreed.

But I think Rock would be pretty willing to 'lower' himself back to wrestling if TNA threw a bunch of money at him for a limited number of dates. It won't be long until his wrestling-ties dry out, and then he's just another dime a dozen action star. Then it just becomes a matter of who's willing to throw the scratch his way.

Well, not match wise. Maybe popularity wise...if they could even promote it.

If it's true that The Rock wants to come back to the WWE... if Rock appears even once for TNA... it would force Vince to get off his ass and offer the Rock some kind of huge money to come back.. home.

If Rock showed up in TNA just once though... that would do a helluva lot for the promotion and for the hopeful "Promotion Wars"

I read a few things in, I believe, the Observer saying Rock had become a diehard fan of the 80s Crockett (and Dusty Rhodes booked) NWA stuff, which lead to Rock asking Vince for a match with Sting at Mania 21. With that said, maybe a Rock deal would be more possible than usual since Rhodes is booking TNA right now? I dunno, I still dont think this is even possible to happen but its just a thought.

He wouldnt wrestle. At most he would just to a beatdown or confrontation. I'd say Jeff Jarrett would regret bringing him in after a show though when he realises he's no longer center of attention in TNA.

Kanyon retired after a match with DDP in New Jersey last year.

I could see Rock coming in, but not to wrestle.

Care to explain what it is you're smoking?

Doom = Universal Studios Production

As a result, it's very likely that The Rock will put in some kind of appearance at Univeral Studios in Orlando. There are young fans in that area constantly, especially during the summer, which is when Doom is slated to get its theatrical release in America.

If that appearance falls near a taping, there'd be no problem with The Rock showing up for an hour and a half to film a few promos and make an appearance in front of the live crowd. A .4 isn't much for something like a syndicated, mid-morning talkshow for housewives, but a .4 of wrestling fans means much more.

This all of course depends on how sour the relationship with McMahon has become, of course.

The WWE would always throw more money at the Rock. Also, why risk upsetting Vince, by making one or two lousy appearances on TNA?

Don't Rock and WWE have co-ownership of the name "The Rock"? I have to assume he wouldn't be able to use the name in another promotion.

No, the Rock has full ownership to the name.

All I know is, if they do get him for one or two appearances, they better take out full page ads in USA Today, and local papers in Philly, New York and LA. Make sure you can get spots on E!, Entertainment Tonight, CNN, whereever you can. Promote the fuck out of it, or it will be utterly pointless.
