CCC and one more C for Charismatic

Recommended Posts

Guest Deadbolt

I love this guy. I know I'm a week or 2 late but did anybody catch this guy on last weeks Smackdown? The search for Taker? The girl scream?....lol. It's something you'd expect from someone like Kurt Angle.

Carlito has been taking advantage of every opportunity he gets to be on T.V. Haven't seem much yet of him in the ring but this guy's just oozes charisma. One of the few guys that keeps me glued to the T.V. wondering how he turns out. Like when in the ring calling Taker out. THis guys was hilarious with the shaking voice and the shaking hand. I think he has a bright future ahead of him.

Does anybody else but me see this guy as a challenger for the Champioship belt if Cena wins it. He could brag about how he defeated Cena on his debut. Plus their feud really didn't have a great solid ending due to injuries both on Carlito and Jesus. I know he's not your average sized guy but it be nice to see what he can do in the spotlight. Besides Carlito I don't see any other heel that could challenge Cena for the belt. Of course once JBL and Cena fued is done there has to be another challenger. They need to build another credible heel and Carlito should get a shot.

I'm still pissed Bob Holly injured him. He was doing a nice job as US champion, and then ol' Hardcore had to go and hurt him.

He's a solid wrestler from what I saw. There are a lot worse....

I agree with the thread maker. Carlito is of my favorite talents on SmackDown!. I say hes a very good wrestler, but even if he isn't. his hillarious charater and great personal more than makes up for it. so him being a good wrestler or not doesn't really matter(as if it ever did), the guy is damn entertaining.

and yes, he definlly stole the show last thursday.

Yeah, being a great worker hasn't ever really mattered. Hulk Hogan was over as shit, and that was mostly because of charisma.

Push what works.

Holly didn't injure CCC (intentionally at least). Carlito fell wrong on his shoulder. Anyway back to the topic... Carlito is pretty awesome, although his in-ring work needs improvement.

We often associate the term "wrestler" with in-ring workrate, despite the fact that it encompasses so much more than. It has to do with character development, promo skills and believability.

And in accordance with that, I believe CCC is a good wrestler.

Remember this is Professional wrestling so therefore there are tradeoffs one does to be successful. A Bret Hart who is a great technical wrestler wouldn't have gotten as far in popularity if he didn't have a Great character to go with it.

Hogan was a lousy barely basic wrestler, but His charisma and antics made up for it too make him arguably the most popular wrestler in nearly two decades.

People like JBL or Cena you can claim they aren't technically sound wrestlers, but that doesn't matter, Im seeing JBL truly fit now as a World Champion and he got Loads of experience behind him, he knows how to work a Match. and Cena similar to the Hogan thing, his character and antics makes you forgive the Commentators try to credibly put over his "Ground and Pound" Tactics of just, Punching, punching, punching.

I've heard good things about his time in Puerto Rico. He is a good wrestler, just not a very good WWE style one. He's slowly building a slightly unique moveset and the way he sells. Give him two or three years of a feud he can sink his teeth into and not get injured, and he could be a somewhat credible champion.

He won't be realistically, only on the potential of a big push which I don't see coming.

Well, I'd say "performer" would be a more accurate description. I've heard varying opinions on the definition of a good "worker," but I've felt it was a guy who wasn't as good as *wrestling* as he was "working" a good match.

i.e. Benoit's a great wrestler and worker, but lacking in some areas as a performer.

HBK is a great overall performer, and a fine worker, but his wrestling is a little weaker than the overall picture.

While Austin at his peak, or in his better '01 matches, excelled in all 3.

Hogan is a terrible wrestler and often was a poor worker, but he was a fine performer. There were some smartly worked matches he was a part of, like some of his bouts with Savage and the original Warrior match.

Would that be about right?

Well I like the character, even if it is a bit of a Razor Ramon rip-off, but as far as his in ring work goes then he sucks.

However, as haas been stated in the thread, being a good wrestler doesn't always damage the prospects of a "wrestler" becoming a big star. Someone like Hulk Hogan got over not because of being a great technical wrestler but got over thanks to charisma and a large push.

Carlito would have to get over on his charisma alone at this point. Unless they decied to give a push when he wrestle again.

Carlito's one of my favorite superstars on Smackdown, and probably in the entire WWE. I've been a huge fan of his since he debuted.

I don't know if he's got "the look" to be WWE champion, but he surely has the talent and charisma.

I see some real potential in Carlito. I became a believer after I saw his match against Rey Mysterio a few months ago on Smackdown. He really displayed some good in-ring psychology in that match even though up to that point he hadn't really wrestled much due to the injury. I like Carlito though. He's good in the ring & he plays the classic, cocky heel very well.

He needs a few big wins when he comes back form injury before being a legit contender for Cena.

But yeah, assuming they are going with a lengthy reign for Cena as champion, CCC would be a logical choice for a PPV match.

Neither is Cena. Or JBL. Or Batista.

All better then CCC. In JBL's case, loads better.

BTW, JBL is a solid wrestler and gets slept on waaaaay too much.

Bradshaw's the pitcher, and as such, sleeps on top.

I actually thought their mentioning of JBL as the longest-reigning champion of the last 10 years was the best attempt at legitimizing his World Title run to date.

And I'm glad to see the WWE has so much faith in Carlito to continue using him a lot when he isn't able to work for a while.

But getting over by yourself if WWE doesn't really want you to is a big no-no.

in Carlito's case, it has been perfectly clear that they intend to push him. If they didn't he wouldn't remain a on-screen character building his heel base and was in a semi-big angle against long with the petition. Most workers are completely taken off the tv for that whole "when they come back they are fresh", here it looks like they are going to end up making carlito such a chickenshit heel that fans will "clamor" for his death.

I wouldn't say Carlito is a chickenshit heel. He's just playing the role of obnoxious prick. And he's doing it amazingly well.

Well i meant that eventually long would start pondering about the legitmaticy of the injury saying that he's been healthy and has been milking the time away and accusing him of being a coward and such...leading to denials, eventully the fans would want to see this obnoxious prick who'se too chickenshit to get back in the ring get his due.

His segment on Smackdown was pretty funny...for those who didn't see Teddy Long had him 'work' the concessions. The attendant there told him to sell a hot dog. So he sold it to a kid, pocketed the money, then when the kid wanted his change, he sprayed the kid with ketchup and spit hot dog at a guy who tried to defend the kid.
