Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2005 Fine... maybe it can erase the horrible acting of the little piece of shit who played Anakin that nearly ruined Darth Vaders badassness. The idea is that Vader was once a little kid, and a good kid, but was later swayed. He's not supposed to be "badass" until he turns.

Boon 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 I'll be front and center. Imagine that Star Destroyer flying over your head. Fuck. Nothing to do with your post really, but was wondering who's that fighting in your avatar? I can't make out the faces, but maybe Anakin and Obi-Wan? <---hasn't read spoilers yet, so I have no clue. It's the beginning of the battle between Anakin and Obi Wan in the Mustafar control room. This is moments after Anakin kills the remaining leaders of the Separatist group, and force chokes a pregnant Padme Amidala. Uh, that's not what that is. It's actually Anakin killing the Viceroy, not the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 23, 2005 He changed his avatar since then... and he kills The Viceroy (Nute whatever)? Anakin is just making me like hi more.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 He changed his avatar since then... and he kills The Viceroy (Nute whatever)? Anakin is just making me like hi more. Anakin goes on a killing spree in the movie, taking out the Viceroy, Dooku, and many, many Jedi.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 I thought he wanted to move on to other projects......but it seems that he is just a one trick pony. Do the Indiana Jones movies count? American Graffitti Lucas came up with the whole story and character of Indiana Jones, so I'd say he's the main force behind those movies, not Spielberg. Lucas also wrote and directed American Graffitti, so I'd hardly say he's a one trick pony. Guys of the caliber of Francis Ford Coppola have been praising the guy since the beginning, but I guess some people would say his opinion doesn't count. He's a nobody, right? Fun fact: Lucas originally wanted Spielberg to direct Return of The Jedi, but the Director's Guild prevented it because of some dispute with Lucas.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 You're also forgetting THX-1138. Not commercially successful, but damn was that an awesome film, if for nothing besides the visuals.
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2005 He changed his avatar since then... and he kills The Viceroy (Nute whatever)? Anakin is just making me like hi more. Nute Gunray. The Viceroy of the Trade Federation. He's one of my favorite characters in the prequel trilogy. And don't you forget it either.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2005 I always interpreted Nute Gunray and the other Trade Federation dudes of the same race to be making fun of bad Japanese film dubbing.
CBright7831 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2005 Yeah, and that's probably another reason I enjoy Nute's character so much. I'm a fan of Japanese films such as Godzilla films, which all get bad dubbing. However, the real reason I like Nute so much is, well, I really don't know, I just like him. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2005 very true, in fact Kotz, I can remember as a kid, I had the figure for: that alien in the Mos Eisley cantina with the flat, S shaped head with eyes on the side as well as the bounty hunter in ESB that growled at Admiral Piet after he said "Bounty Hunters, we don't need their scum"...IG-88 was also never identified in the movies...so I would agree with that theory for sure... Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 24, 2005 Was the thing in the Cantina that one that kinda looked like a snail/slug? If so, I think the character was on screen for 3 seconds... now that is just milking a profit.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2005 I think I remember some generic names for the toys when they came out, they didn't have the proper names or anything. The "Hammerhead" figure might be the one you're referring to. The alien Obi-Wan maimed was "Walrus Man", and so on.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Was the thing in the Cantina that one that kinda looked like a snail/slug? If so, I think the character was on screen for 3 seconds... now that is just milking a profit. Hey, the man offered an action figure for a character that wasn't even in the movie when it originally came out (I'm talking about Boba Fett.) That's crazy... unless people saw the Star wars Holiday Special, I doubt anyone knew what Boba Fett looked like before the Empire Strikes Back, but I have no idea what kind of stuff on Star Wars was out back in 1978-1980 when ESB was in production. Even then, he wasn't named in ESB IIRC, as he was simply reffered to as "Bounty Hunter".
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Explain further. What about the opening sequence made him quit? If you'll notice, the Star Wars films have a very unorthodox construction. No opening credits at any point whatsoever. This was the superficial problem, but a big reason the DGA raised a stink was because Lucas refused studio funding after ANH, because then he'd have to kowtow to the whims of the director's guild and all the other trappings that come with signing for funding from a major film company. After ANH, 20th Century Fox just did distribution of the film and got a good bit of the profit so they did marketing also. Lucas's real cash cow is the merchandise (duh). as well as the bounty hunter in ESB that growled at Admiral Piet after he said "Bounty Hunters, we don't need their scum"... That would be Bossk. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 Momaw Nadon = Hammerhead. No, I didn't have to look that up (although the spelling might be a bit off).
Vyce 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2005 as well as the bounty hunter in ESB that growled at Admiral Piet after he said "Bounty Hunters, we don't need their scum"... That would be Bossk. Yes, Bossk, the Trandoshan. He's had a rather storied rivalry with Boba Fett. It's very sad I know all of this. Boba Fett is a great example, BTW, of Lucas' greed and him being utterly duplicitious about that greed. I remember, distinctly, Lucas giving interviews way back in the day (LONG before the prequels were ever even close to production), and when questioned about Fett, Lucas would always remark about how he never thought the character was special, the character was never meant to be anyone important other than to facilitate moving the story along (i.e. capturing Han and moving him to Jabba's palace on Tattoine), and that he didn't really understand why people found the character interesting. Fast forward to the prequels, and Lucas, realizing that Fett has become arguably the most popular secondary character in the entire franchise, makes Fett and his 'father' Jango integral to the Prequels.
