BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Cruiserweight champion Chavo Guerrero is currently out of action with a cracked orbital bone. Guerrero will continue to work TV tapings to continue the Eddy Guerrero/Rey Mysterio storyline. However, the Guerrero vs. Paul Londman match that was never officially announced, looks to be off the Wrestlemania card. Chavo is not expected to wrestle again until after Wrestlemania. source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 3/21/05 Poor London, Wrestlemania was really his chance to shine. Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 God dammit... one of the few matches I would care about and this happens. And I love the typo of "Londman" from the Observer. Stuff like that happens all the time though, and not everyone is perfect.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 They should just add London Vs. Akio FOR NO REASON AT ALL!
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 That would've been 20 times better probably, since Chavo appears to have gotten quite lazy in the ring over the last few months. London gets screwed out of the Wrestlemania CW Title Match AGAIN. Last year he was the only CW not in the match, and this year his match is dropped thanks to an injury to Chavo. Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Indeed, they would steal the show. Just have London squash Chavo at the next Smackdown! for the Cruiserweight Title, then have the last Akio/London match at WM.
Guest nokia Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Bad news for Paul....but chavo vs Paul will never be as good as Paul vs akio... So my fingers are crossed....
notJames 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Seriously, just do a quickie "belt held up due to injury" angle, have a mini tourney on the next 2 SD!'s, and have London and Akio for the title at WM21. It's not like they haven't rushed through stuff like this before. And the match would definitely be worth it.

Otherwise, bad break for London.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 While I'm all for London vs Akio...Akio's never on Smackdown, it would be pointless to rush him into an angle like this with no build up, at least Paul's got a little tv time in the last few weeks.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Where's the orbital bone? Pretty much no matter where it is..I'm sure they could do something where he's beaten, maybe have someone take him out with a chair to the head before the match and pin him, and that's it. I would say Akio...but yea...London's the #1 contender and it wouldn't make sense for Akio to get a shot first.

The only problem with your idea is that for someone to take Chavo out in such a manner, they'd have to be a bigger heel than he is, and I'd guess the only guy on that level would be Spike Dudley. Dudley/London just doesn't seem like a WM match to me.

Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 They should do a title held up due to injury and have a 4 man tourny for chance to face london (since he's already #1 contender) for the vacant title at WM. then Akio can win that. I think thats what people are implying.
Guest Fook Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I just hope they give us a normal match for the title instead of trying to cram the whole division into ten minutes of spots like last year.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I would hold a mini-tournament, where the winner faces London for the title at Wrestlemania. London already "earned" his shot, so why screw him out of it? He's the "#1 Contender", so give him a free pass to the finals of a tournament.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Hell, if it wasn't for those of us on the net they would just say that London won it at a house show "over the weekend" and have him be the champ as of this Thursday.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 London/Akio should be a Ladder Match~! And it should go 30 minutes~! Plus, they should have Long strip Cena of his #1 contendership, and replace him with Eddie and Rey~! And JBL could crash his limo and never make it to the match, which means Eddie vs Rey for the WWE Title~! With Bret Hart as the referee~!

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I admire anyone who really, truly believes they'll put London vs. Akio on the Mania card. No, wait, scratch that. Admire and pity.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 I admire anyone who really, truly believes they'll put London vs. Akio on the Mania card. No, wait, scratch that. Admire and pity. Why? It's obvious that they've realized that they are both great talents. This is proven by the fact that before, cruiserweights were having what? 3-5 minute matches? Or even shorter squash matches against a heavyweight. Even big matches like Noble vs Mysterio at the Rumble two years ago got like 9 minutes or something. Have you seen how much time they've given them recently? How much more attention is payed to them now? (Mainly London and Akio) (Even if it is on Velocity) They're getting 15-20 minute matches. Just look how long they got in Japan...and I'm sure it wasn't just because Akio is japanese, because well..Look at Funaki and Tajiri's matches. They won, but together they were probaly 10 minutes total. So it's obvious by the fact that another match between the two would be like London/Akio 6? or something like that that they know they can have a great match, that the crowd is actually into. And it's not like the CW title match at WM will really matter...so why wouldnt they? Despite the 'CW conspiracy theory'.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Rey/Noble on the 2004 Rumble got 3 minutes and change.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Mysterio/Knoble got THREE minutes at 2004 rumble. The only really long one on one ppv calibar cw match ever was Mysterio/Chavo last year @ NWO that went 15 minutes. Sadly, this would be vince's easy way out of doing a CW title match by going "well our champ was out, and rushing a title match would be pointless" "but vince what about the other 3928 times we've done.." "like i was saying". I'd have Chavo suddenly be injured and Eddy instantly accuses London but London has an alibi and chavo while writing in pain musters "maybe it was rey?". setting up more of that "who can eddy trust" angle they got going on. All in all we learn chavo faked it to get out of wrestling london(for whatever reason) and to convince eddy to turn.

And they have so much faith in them that they've wrestled on Smackdown...how many times? Akio has had no attention paid to himself, outside of Velocity. And London has been forgotten about for months, save for the past two weeks. They can't get on their brand's show. Let alone a SD PPV. Let alone a joint brand PPV. And let alone Wrestlemania. Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted March 21, 2005 It would be the sixth or seventh match they've had in the last couple months. There was little reason to even give the title to Chavo, and they might as well strip him of it and have him do the "You stripped me of the title, I'm gonna make you pay!" angle. Chavo is good on the mic so he should be able to carry it until his orbital bone is healed up. London vs Akio ladder title match, make it so!

Actually what was said was: Chavo Guerrero has a cracked orbital bone, which is why he wasn't on tour this weekend. Akio was sent in his place to face London. Chavo will be on TV to build for Mania and the Mysterio vs. Eddie angle, but the planned Chavo vs. London Mania match for the cruiserweight title, which was never announced, now looks doubtful and he won't be wrestling for sure until Mania. He will return to the ring at or very shortly after Mania, is how I read that. So, IMO, it's too soon to completely write off the match, especially since Chavo will continue to be on TV between now and then. All it would really take is one or two appearances during a London Velocity match to give it build.
