RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2005 I am lifting this from THE LAW website for now. More comprehensive cards can be expected in the future. All I gotsta say is HOLY SHIT! ULTIMATE FIGHTER FINALE DATE: April 9th at 9pm EST LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada @ The Cox Pavilion MAIN EVENT: Ken Shamrock Vs Rich Franklin CARD: *Light Heavyweight Finals: Sam Hoger or Forrest Griffin/Bobby Southworth Vs Mike Swick or Stephan Bonner *Middleweight Finals: Diego Sanchez vs. Kenny Florian *Chris Leben Vs Jason Thacker *Nate Quarry Vs Loudin Sincaid *Josh Rafferty Vs Alex Karalexis PRICE: Free on Spike TV DETAILS: A very successful reality series for both UFC and Spike TV with rumors of a second season being discussed. Originally this was only going to be a 1-hour finale but was increased to 2.5 (meaning "Velocity" gets dumped that week for UFC). It's not going to hurt the wallet, so why not? Should be a good show and some excellent promotion for the UFC PPV the following Saturday night. AND IF YOU'RE REALLY HARDCORE: It's "UFC Day" on Spike TV and they will air the entire "Ultimate Fighter" series starting at 9am and it goes right up to 9pm. So it's 14.5 hours of straight UFC! Booya! UFC "COUTURE VS LIDDELL II" DATE: April 16th 2005 LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada @ MGM Grand Garden Arena MAIN EVENT: Randy Couture Vs Chuck Liddell for the Light Heavyweight Title CARD: *Matt Hughes Vs Frank Trigg for the Middleweight Title *Matt Lindland Vs Travis Lutter *Georges St. Pierre Vs Jason Miller *Lee Murray Vs Patrick Cote *Joe Riggs Vs Ivan Salaverry *Renato Sabral Vs Travis Wiuff *Mike Van Arsdale Vs John Marsh PRICE: $29.95 DETAILS: Coming off the "Ultimate Fighter" series this has the chance to be the most successful UFC PPV since Shamrock Vs Ortiz in November 2002. Couture dominated their first fight back in June 2003. This will easily appeal to the casual fan as well due to their visibility as the coaches on the series. This will also be Lee Murray's first appearance on PPV since April 2004. PRIDE BUSHIDO VOLUME 6 DATE: April 14TH 2005 LOCATION: Yokohama, Japan @ The Yokohama Arena MAIN EVENT: Fedor Emelianenko Vs Tsuyoshi Kosaka CARD: (shown in this order) *Dennis Kang Vs Oba Takahiro *Amar Suloev Vs Paulo Filho *Dean Lister Vs Akira Shoji *Daisuke Nakamura Vs Marcus Aurelio *Luis Firmino Vs Luis Azeredo *Daijyu Takase Vs Daniel Acacio *Aleksander Emelianenko Vs Ricardo Morais *Ryuta Sakurai Vs Murilo Bustamante *Ikuhisa Minowa Vs Gilbert Yvel *Suloev/Filho winner Vs Lister/Shoji winner (to get into Pride GP tournament) *Fedor Emelianenko Vs Tsuyoshi Kosaka PRICE: $19.99 DETAILS: This will air on 4/14 on tape delay on PPV. The main event is very intriguing because Kosaka is the only man to have ever beaten Emelianenko (back in RINGS). Bustamante is one of the best middleweights out there so I expect that to be a good match with Sakurai. This is one of the better Bushido cards on paper. PRIDE GRAND PRIX: TOTAL ELIMINATION DATE: April 23rd 2005 LOCATION: Tokyo, Japan @ Saitama Super Arena MAIN EVENT: Wanderlei Silva Vs Hidehiko Yoshida CARD: *Wanderlei Silva Vs Hidehiko Yoshida *Dan Henderson Vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira *Yuki Kondo Vs Igor Vovchanchyn MORE 1st ROUND MATCHES TBA *Participants: *Wanderlei Silva *Hidehiko Yoshida *Antonio Rogerio Nogueira *Dan Henderson *Igor Vovchanchyn *Yuki Kondo *Quinton Jackson *Kazushi Sakuraba *Mauricio "Shogun" Rua *Kazuhiro Nakamura *Vitor Belfort *Alistair Overeem *Kevin Randleman PRICE: $29.99 DETAILS: This will be another strong tournament out of Pride. Tons of strong names in there and some dream matches. My sleeper pick is Vovchanchyn, who has dropped down in weight and just looked awesome at the "Fists of Fire" PPV, though Silva is clearly going to be the guy to beat in this tournament. Can't wait for this one.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted March 28, 2005 = I'll pass on Bushido, thanks. Just the Total Elimination show.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2005 They made a bunch of errors on their update, keyword, they I caught the mistake w. TUF finals, forgot that one.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2005 While we're at it, it's Denis, not Dennis Kang. Apparently only three fights will be aired on the TUF finale. Two and a half hours? What the fuck?

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 Hate to be a stickler again but you forgot to list Diego for the MW Finals. Whoever said Murilo is boring must be drinking a little too much Nyquil themselves.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted March 29, 2005 Whoever said Murilo is boring must be drinking a little too much Nyquil themselves. Maybe he was exciting once. Maybe he was one of the best once. But the last two times I saw him (Vs. Quentin, Vs. Nakamura) they were the longest respective 20/35 minutes of my life. But the last two times I saw him (Vs. Quentin, Vs. Nakamura) they were the longest respective 20/35 minutes of my life. Those two matches are decent, Rampage/Murilo is nowhere near as good as people think it is, it's still good though. His best match was probably against Lindland in UFC. AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 Supposedly Sakuraba will be fighting a Korean judoka in his first MMA fight. I got no qualms about this, the tourney still kicks ass. Still, it needs confirmation from prideofficial.com before I'll completely believe it.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Two more matches announced: Rampage vs. Shogun and Henderson vs. Rogerio Nogueira. The three matches announced so far sound great.
Styles 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2005 Meltzer: --There is a change in a prelim match on the 4/16 UFC show as Lee Murray wasn't allowed out of England so his match with Patrick Cote is out. Murray will be replaced by Joe Doerkson, who fought Joe Riggs and lost a few shows back. Awwww...I wanted to see Lee Murray again.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Looks like Koscheck vs. Sanford is on for the Finale show. From an interview with Kenny Florian on WO.com: Question: For the last part of the interview, I would like to get your predictions for some upcoming UFC fights. How about Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Sanford? Kenny Florian: "I didn't get to see much of Chris Sanford but if I know Josh like I think I do, he is probably working real hard on all his weaknesses. Josh is obviously a great athlete. I am not sure where Sanford is at in his training or how serious he is taking all this. I will have to go with Josh Koscheck." AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 If anyone wants Bushido results, here they are: http://kakutougi.info/content/view/108/ Sounded like a great event, I'm watching it later on today.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Two more matches announded: Vovchanchyn vs. Kondo Randleman vs. Nakamura, looks like Ryan pussed out again. That leaves: Bushido tourney winner: Dean Lister Belfort Overeem Sakuraba Korean judo guy Last fighter, possibly Arona I expect the last matches to be: Belfort vs. Overeem, two strikers Sakuraba vs. judo guy, safe match for Saku for once Arona vs. Bushido tourney winner, Lister, they're fighting at ADCC so it makes sense. Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 A question regarding the Pride Grand Prix. The date listed here is April 23rd, which I believe is a Saturday. However, will this be like standard Pride cards where it airs in North America on Sunday night?
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 No, I believe it is airing live on Saturday. The last three matches have been confirmed, so the card is now complete.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I believe they're banking on a Saku-Silva rematch for the second round, so Silva is essentially guaranteed a trip to the final four. This is more interesting than the NCAA tourney, and even though you have to worry about bracketology being changed all the time, who do you reckon to be in the final four? Silva, Rampage, Arona and Hendo.

Silva, Rampage, Arona and Hendo. Silva Rampage Henderson Kondo, don't ask why, just a feeling. Good fighters who go through slumps always get it done when it counts. Igor will be a tough test, though.
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Kondo had better hope he subs Igor. I don't think he can KO Igor but I do think Igor can KO him.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I think Kondo has a small chance of KO'ing Igor. This hard match is hard to pick because everyone knows how good Igor is, but he achieved most of his fame as a HW. Kondo is no slouch at LHW.
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Igor has spent time away and has been training on and off with Red Devil so hopefully a Sperry-esque loss isn't likely to happen. Kondo's best bet is probably ground control for a judges decision or a sub. Kondo has beat odds before, but Igor hits people incredibly hard if you are to believe his past opponents. If Kondo couldn't put away Cyborg who got DOMINATED by Rea recently at Cage Rage I can't seem him walking through Igor.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 Greater Toronto Area and I doubt that covers South Jersey so I can't help you.
Styles 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 Oh, well count me out. Unfortunately without PPV here at school, I won't be able to watch it live. If I was at home there's no doubt I'd order it though. I'll have to do what I did for UFC 51, avoid results for a couple days and then watch the show... Luckily, I'll be home the weekend of the 23rd so I can and will order Pride live.
