Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 As someone who hasn't paid for a PPV in 10 years (so that's not the issue), I think this is the least excited about a major event I've been in that entire timeframe. Eight matches doesn't seem like enough, especially when two of them have no business being on the show. The 'Money in the Bank' match would be tolerable if Benjamin wasn't in it, or if he'd dropped the title before the show. I just don't understand the concept of three champions wrestling matches with their belts not on the line (this assumes Eddie & Rey don't drop their titles tonight at the tapings). I already saw the climax of Batista/HHH with the table spot a couple of weeks ago, and things have gone downhill since then. Orton/Taker has no real purpose if Randy needs time off and Angle/Michaels is just there for the sake of being there. Cena may or may not get the title although I'm certain he'll get the victory, and there's nothing right now that seems like a "WrestleMania moment" in the making with the possible exception of Piper's Pit. For a regular PPV, these kinds of matches would be great, for a WM, they just seem really lacking. But then again, you are never satisfied with the WWE product. The card looks pretty good for us smarks with Rey/Eddie, Money in the Bank, HBK/Angle and the Piper's Pit stuff. All watch the show like marks for once, I know it's hard but the show will get better that way.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Okafor is underwhelming (just like WM XX is to me) when compared to other top draft picks in Iverson, Duncan, Vince Carter, Yao, LeBron, etc. You're a dumbass. Vince Carter and Emeka Okafor weren't #1 picks. And Okafor's putting up like 15 and 11 AS A ROOKIE. Very underwhelming. I meant one of the top draft picks. Okafor is underwhelming compared to the other players I mentioned. And if Okafor's rookie stats compare to anyone I mentioned, Okafor is much less popular, therefore underwhelming compared to them. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 He's playing on an expansion team and is averaging 15-11. You're a fucking retard. All watch the show like marks for once, I know it's hard but the show will get better that way. What does this mean? Can I watch the show as a wrestling fan and just like what I like and dislike what I don't like
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted March 30, 2005 You have to explain everything so everyone can understand or you get a "you're a fucking retard" "you're a moron", etc from someone. I edited my post before Barron posted his, hope he gets it now.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 He's one of the leading candidates for ROY and probably the reason why Charlotte didn't break the 76ers for futility. Still not underwhelming.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 And why in God's green earth is Show/Akebono's match taking place on the biggest stage of them all???!! You're going to need the biggest stage of them all to fit both guys. I'd be more interested if they had a hot dog eating contest instead of a match. Then they could bring in that little guy who is the master of hot dog eating. Just imagine all of the buzz that would happen for the hotdog contest if Kobashi did show up. It could of been the biggest swerve in wrestling when they reveal that it is the skinny hotdog champion and not Kenta Kobashi.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Fair enough and I'm not defending him (even though he fast became my favourite Net) but I wouldn't want to play for the Raptors and Sam Mitchell either. And yea- Vince's antics in Toronto were pretty horrible. Can't say I'm complaining anymore with him jacking up 30 every night

naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 What exactly does "watch a show like a mark" actually mean? Does that mean I'm supposed to shit in my pants during Undertaker's intro since he's so mean and scary? Did you see him set the ring on fire the other day?!?!? *gasp* Should I pop for HHH since he ROOLZ? Should I be jerking off during Trish/Christy since that's WWE's version of porn? How about ripping my t-shirt off when Hogan make his appearance? Or smashing some soda/beer cans together when Austin starts causing trouble? Should I chant "WHAT?" during every pause during a promo on the show? Granted, I may have gone over the top with the sarcasm, but if I didn't do that shit when I was 7, there's no way I'm going to do that at 27. It wouldn't make a bad show any better if I did that, and it wouldn't diminish from a great show if I didn't. Dumbing yourself down is just that, dumb. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 1st off Emeka isn't your typical Duncan, A.I., or Jordan because he is WAY more defensive minded then offensive. So shut the the fuck up about Emeka being underwelming. Give him 2 more years he will be the best defensive player in the NBA 2nd off, I'm hyped for WM21. Mainly for HBK/Angle, I have been waiting since Shawn Michaels comeback in Summerslam 2002 to see this match, and finally its coming true. I just hope it dosen't fail and is a classic like I thought it will be. Rey/Eddie if it's given more then 20 miniutes is a given ****+ match, and The Ladder Match excites me deeply. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 WrestleMania is the kind of show that always gets me psyched no matter what, and this year is no exception. Maybe a bit less than other times when I was there live (2000, X-7, XX), but it's hard not to get hyped when matches like Kurt vs HBK or Eddie vs Rey are happening on the grandest stage of them all. And if moments such as last year's Benoit/Eddie celebration or the Evo vs Rock&Sock fun-fest happen again then It's times like these that I'm so happy to be a wrestling fan. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 This would be a terrible show to "watch as a mark." We've got a potential ***** wrestling match between Angle and HBK, HHH losing the World Title, the politics of the Undertaker vs. the Net's most hated young talent, Eddie vs. Rey, and a six-man match for a ticket back to the main event scene. C'mon. It's a smark's paradise.
benoit4hor 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 How hyped? I haven't decided if I'm gonna order it or not. But hell it's a Sunday and I'm on house arrest so why not.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I'm more hyped about this year's show then I was for the previous three main events. nothing about wmx8 appealed to me; not even rock/hogan because i hated how atrocious both main events(that and the title match) were booked. WMXIX had just "meh" sell for me, I was amped for Jericho/HBK to an extent and that was about it. I knew angle wouldn't be 100% or even 70% and had no expectactions. The rest of the card didnt do it for me. WMXX was so underwelming for me going into it; I expected good stuff for the main and got that. WMXXI has me hyped for the eddy/rey, angle/hbk, ladder match and the booking decision of the title matches have me curious. I'll watch and likely be statisfied knowing i didnt spend really all that much money to watch it and hopefully we'll get a couple fantastic matches, decent sport entertainment out of it. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 It doesn't feel like WrestleMania to me. It's at a typical venue with a typical eight-match card, with main events of two midcard-caliber gimmicks and Triple H against a guy who I still can't buy as a top-quality wrestler.
