WWE "Holiday Tribute to the Troops"

Recommended Posts

Just picked a two-disc DVD set at WalMart devoted to the '03 and '04 trips to Iraq. The entire Smackdown episode from each year is included, plus a ton of related extras and such. Nothing spectacular on the wrestling side of things, but it's a pretty cool set if you didn't see it or want to see what went on.

Yes, I know, it's a pretty loud "pat on the back" by WWE, but it's all good. They're donating a portion of the sales to a military-related charity (can't remember off the top of my head what it is), so I guess some good can come from it. And as far as I know, this was only gonna be available from WalMart, so check it out. Best part was the price, it was $12.74, for a two-disc set, that's not bad.

Good move to give a portion of the money to charity. If they were smart, they would have gave all profits to a charity and wrote it off on taxes. Then how can you call it a pat on the back if you aren't making a dime?

i might pick this up as well, i missed both shows (not that i seemed to miss much) but still itd be nice to add to the collection. JBL's stint this year could make the dvd some what worth it

Yeah, the extras are all trip-related, meaning, there's no matches from over here or anything like that. Some of the stuff is pretty cool, I guess, like "After the Show" kinda segments, with the troops chanting for beer, various superstars talking about their experiences over there, a photo gallery, and a couple of promos cut before and after the trip here in the States. Nothing major, but for $12 and change, I thought it was cool.

Sounds like the a total waste of money, since the Iraq shows weren't that good.

All the extras are superstars visiting the troops? Thats like the last 6 months of Confidential rolled into one. No thanks!

They could of at least added the Velocity shows for each... although 8 matches (and I wouldnt mind having that Benoit/Guerrero match on DVD) and quite a bit of extra's it's probably worth the $12 dollar investment. It could be worth a chunk more in a few years on Amazon or whatever, like $25 or something lol..

EDIT: wait or was there even Velocity shows?

I think they were just recaps that week.

Why buy it @ Best-Buy where they would charge 21.99 for it while wal-mart as noted sells it for 12.74.

They have the Royal Rumble @ Wal-Mart for 14 bucks as well. BB is charging im sure 20 bucks.
